The topend in this car is amazing. Way better than my 98 Prelude SH. These two cars handle very similar actually. Im impressed with how tight the body is for this car. It rides and handles beautifully. Engine has a very nice scream. I love to hear the camshafts switch when Vtec engages.

Weakness:

The speakers in this car are horrible. I replaced them the 2nd day I had the car with some 2-ways. Your leg easily blocks the sound and you have to move them constantly if you want more volume. I also am thinking of putting a small amp on the stock Deck. Would like some more volume from a 50x2 amplifier.

I recomment this car to anyone who loves to drive. This is a drivers car. Takes alot of concentration at the limit but other than that..its a dream. Its as fast as my friends Z28 yet it sucks fuel like a Civic. My friends love this car and so do the girls that see it :).

Strength:

Driving a street-legal race car. The handling is incredible, you have to take it to a track to reach it limits safely. The styling is unique and there are so few on the roads that you feel part of an exclusive club.

Weakness:

The carpeting is cheap looking. But there are aftermarket leather goods to spruce it up!

I would recommend this car for people who value handling and performance above luxury and snob appeal. If you want to impress Brad at the country club stick to a German make.

Strength:

This is without doubt the most exciting car I have ever driven. The looks are fantastic, the engine justs BEGS to be driven hard.Seats are very comfortable for both short and long drives. steering is very quick and positive. There is nothing like the feel of that engine running up to 7500-8000 rpm and then shifting into 4th gear (at 110mph) and feeling the surge of power forcing you back in the seat. The handling is superb and the car corners like it is on rails. I'll keep it until I order a 911 twin turbo.
TheS2000 demands your full attention when driving, it's not a forgiving car, and that is the way it should be

Weakness:

The radio sucks- hard to get rural stations and I replaced the speakers with polks. rear window should be of higher quality. no clock in a digital radio?come on Honda- On the other hand, who cares about the time when your driving this rocket

Highly recommended- if you want evcitement, pure driving pleasure, top down,go fast, hang on and smile. It doesn't get any better than the S2000

Strength:

Amazing powerplant - it's a Civic Si up to 6,000rpm and a Boxster S from there to 9,000. Nice, conservative styling - won't get old soon. Excellent build quality. Great shifter feel. Sticks to the road like glue. Very stiff chassis.

Weakness:

It's a roadster - cramped, little storage space. Somewhat numb steering. Rear tires tend to hydroplane. Mirror controls hard to use. Stereo is lousy.

This is not your typical car. Unless you rev the snot out of it, you'd think that you're driving a very stiff Civic. It is quite noisy with the top up (top down too, but you tend to forgive it for that!)

Bottom line: If you value performance above all else, this car *might* be for you. If you feel otherwise, save yourself some time & trouble, and get something more expensive.

Similar Products Used:

Miata - I didn't fit.
Z3 - smaller cockpit, heavier car, more expensive.
Boxster - way too expensive.

This is the only Honda Car which generate so much envious that some people will actually try hard to find or quote anything negative to make them fell better about their BMW or Porsche.

This is a special or single purpose car which optimizes race track performance and give up some on rooms and practicality. It runs neck to neck with in terms of 0-60 and 1/4 mile time with M-roadster, M3, Porsche Boxster-S and Mustang GT. However, what makes it better than BMW and Porsche competitors is the feeling of quick steering ratio, superior suspension, wide power band to 9000RPM redline and reliability.

It has a very neutral handling in which ome can

Motor, Motor, Motor. I've read many other posts by people who've been "priced out" Too bad, this car is destined to be a classic.

Weakness:

Availability and price gouging by dealers.

Bought my car about about three hours ago. Dealer wait list 1 year plus. Found one someone had ordered and could'nt afford (probably a two star poster here!). Very streetable car. Sub six times are obviously based on 8K clutch drops. Wanna go FAST run it up. One run down the on-ramp made me a believer! Mine had 22 miles at purchase. VERY NEW, haven't had a chance to really comment. But as I have a Honda snowblower, quad, sportbike, and generator.....I already know I won't be disappointed. Don't but this car as a daily driver (9,000RPM?). But if you can afford it it will be worth twice the money in twenty years. Trust me, my 12,000 dollar Panteras are know at 40K! Oh....you might want to suck up all the promotional literature you can as this will escalate faster.

I do not know where to begin! The first thing that I love is the BIG RED START ENGINE BUTTON. Then it all comes down to the drivers finger tips. Starting from right to left, Audio Controls, the Obviously the Steering wheel, and the large digital instument pannel, next, the A/C-Heat Controls, the top down ventilation system is pretty good during the summer. Below the A/C the radio, and the ever so awesome Shift Nob, the 01 model in Yellow, has a darker shift nob than the others (I like the color change!). The dash is simple, and fun to read. Your adrenaline is automatically boosted when you see the RPM'S hit 8300 as you throw the stick in to 4th after cruising 106 MPH in 3rd. 6200 RPM's in 6th, you are comfortably cruising at 117 MPH. Now, the new improvements for the 01 model, the CLOCK, yes there it is, on the radio where it should be. What is nice about it's location, close the dust cover for the radio, and you do not see how much time that you have actually spent driving (makes the car seem timeless.) Some other great attributes to the S2000. 0-60 5.3 seconds, 1/4 mile 13.83, Braking 60-0 128 feet. That is quick!!!

Weakness:

Radio is a little weak, but if you put a couple hundred dollars in to new speakers, the problem is gone. The plastic rear window, yes, most agree this is a small problem, but here is a solution, that is cheap, like free.
Take a large bath towel which I am sure that we all have, roll it up width wise, so that it is about 3 feet long, and however thick you can make it; then simply place the towel on the window as you begin to lower the roof. You will see that the window begins to fold, place the towel here, this will help prevent the window from creasing. As for the plastic window fogging up, check with your local automotive shop and ask if they carry FOG-X or a like product. If they do not carry it, check with local SCUBA dive shops, they carry products to prevent masks and goggles from fogging. If you do go with the SCUBA shop, please read the instructions, it will tell you if you can use is on plastic windows. I have not tried this method, but have heard that it does in deed work.

First off, why do I recommend them, Honestly I work for a dealership, so I see them quite often, as well as handle a majority of their sales. I have driven numerous S2000's as well as the cars that I have listed in the similar products used section. I have played on private parking lots, toying with the power of the car. For instance the burnouts, and donuts a like. There is something about having 11 1/2 inch ventilated disc brakes on the car, that just says go fast, I will stop in time. The in-wheel house double wishbone suspension system, and the 50/50 weight distribution says that it is a true sports car, built to be pushed to its limits. The overall ride, granite, a little rough, but I do not see it to be any worse than the Corvette, or Porche, besides why pay that much more money? If you are considering the S2000, feel free to email me, I have them in stock.
Last but not least, who should and should not own one of these cars. To be truthful, everyone who can afford the S2000, should have one, only if you are looking for a sports car. This is not the family car by far, and is not suitable for anybody over 6'4, or 6'2 if you are not built proportionately. If you are considering the Porche because you like the looks, or the name, please consider the S2000. You will save thousands on the selling price, as well as the servicing of the car. The oil change for the S2000 is only 21.00 or so. Consider the cost of insurance as well, if you are a younger driver, from what I have seen with my customers, the S2000 does come out cheeper on the insurance side of your wallet.

Strength:

This car is as close to pure racing as you can get on the street. 9000 RPM backed by the manufacturer? Handling is superb with just the right amount of oversteer. Car needs to be driven hard, not like a Honda. Completely intense when approaching you at dusk with the Xenons on.

Weakness:

No clock? Who got fired for that? Plastic window needs constant attention. Speakers really suck.

I highly recommend this car to someone who loves driving. The car will beat you up on long hauls but it's so much fun getting there. In order to get the most out of it performance wise, you better know how to drive it hard. If you can't do 0-60 in 5.2, go buy a Corvette. Car will attract A LOT of attention!

Similar Products Used:

Boxster S, M-Roadster - Both have their strengths and weaknesses. For my driving purposes, on the track, the S2000 has these two beat. My confidence is much higher in the S2k than in either the S or the M-Roadster.
