Strength:

Timeless supercar styling which still looks better than many European autos costing much more. Great ride and handling. 5 speed shifts like butter. Super paint finish. Unusually low purchase price for such a supercar. Bought mine for 10K with just 42K miles from original owner who always garaged it at home and work (never driven in snow).

Weakness:

Eats clutches every 40K miles, original owner replaced clutch at 38K miles. Replaced timing belt / tensioner / waterpump at 60K miles, poor design which costs $800 every 60K miles. Drivers seat corner tore at 46K miles like every other one I have ever seen. Exhaust system is rusted out now and requires replacement at $900-1000. Too many loose fitting plastic interior parts. Expensive car to own and operate compared to any American car but still lots cheaper than any European exotic. Friends have warned me about hard braking which can cause warping of the rotors and also about the usual early failure of drive shaft U joints ($750 replacement cost). Good thing I have a job making lots of money. Driving this car hard will cost you bucks because this engine is overstressed, especially the twin turbo models.

If you have to have a supercar exotic this is it. It costs to much to operate because of repair expenses, but the alternatives from Europe are much more expensive and don't look as nice. The performance is great even if the build quality isn't. Could be a future classic at a very reasonable price but this car will cost you much more to operate than a Z28, Mustang, or Trans Am and won't take the same amount of abuse and that makes it less attractive as your only transpotation. Recommendation: Buy one as second or third car only.

Similar Products Used:

IROC Camaro, Porche 911. Iroc was faster and less expensive to own, engine was understressed and handled a lot of abuse, better value per mile for the dollar, fun to drive but too common. 911 was about equal in performance to 300ZX but cost much more per mile to operate and had dated styling. Repair costs were out of sight and build quality average at best, engine was overstressed and prone to damage during hard use, I guess it was the snob appeal I paid for.

Strength:

Excellent performance, great reliability, very tight body, paint still looks new, has held up incredibly! I've driven mine for 170,000 miles and still performs well and looks beautiful!

Weakness:

The engine compartment is kinda crowded, which makes labor slightly more expensive for repairs and makes it kinda tough for me to do anything.

Best car I've ever owned! I plan to keep this one 'til it dies... which could be awhile!

Nissan 240SX and numberous sedans: The 300ZX blows the 240SX away on performance, reliability, overall costs (repair, operating, maintenance), and integrity. my 240SX was looking pretty shabby at about 70,000 miles. The Z still looks new at 170,000+! 240SX looks and performs ok when new, but doesn't hold up well. The Z is hands-down THE BEST car I've ever had!!! At 13 years old, it still looks and performs like new!

Strength:

Just recently got a new paint job(looks like a ferrari). Has 102,000 miles, runs great. Only had to replace alternator. T-tops are fantastic in summer. People love to look at this car. Especially when they don't know what kind of car it is. Classic. This car also has sooo many goodies like radio controls, volume, and cruise controls on steering wheel. Power everthing. Great car.

Weakness:

gas milage not the greatest

I love this car and hope to keep it for a long while. I love to wash and wax it and show off on the strip. Looks and drives great:)

Strength:

Great styling and performance, not a car you see everyday like Mustangs and Camaros

Weakness:

hard to find aftermarket products, unlike 90-96; some aspects of styling are outdated but can be modified

Great car overall, very reliable, very few problems for an older car, easy to customize, hard to find parts made specifically for this car, great performance for the price, my dad bought an 85 2-seater, we both love them.

fast fast fast acceleration, hot styling, great interior, love the sounf of the engine, t-tops are nice too

Weakness:

slow braking and scary blind spots

this car is great! its a fast sports car with a reasonable price, if you can find one. due to the insurance rates id say its not too good of a car for anyone under 25 but if you can afford it, why not.

Strength:

Amazing looks, if you want the stares you will get it with this car. Performance is above average even for the 222hp 2+2. It has a classy look even in 2001, the 13 year old design is simply incredible. Better then your average Civic, Integra, Talon, Laser even some Beemers.

Weakness:

Name not as popular as the BMW, expen$ive to maintain, expen$ive insurance especially on the TT model.

I bought it in the Summer of 2000 after driving around in a 98 Civic for a year. Since then I had to put in about $600 for replacement of some suspension parts and about $1000 for a set of new tires (Michelin VX4).
But other then that ...

amazing car.

i give it the highest rating posible nissan basically did everything right its great sports car with a easy way to modify for hot rodders to make it even faster turbo or non turbo

i think compared to anything else the has come out of japan including any honda, mazda you name it is the best for its price, even do it was a bit pricey in the early 90s now you can get one relatively cheaply
