Strength:

Descent looks, excellent ride, powerful engine

Weakness:

Overall Relaibility, Cheap Interior - too much plastic to go with the leather interior

I bought this new and fully loaded (32 K - sticker). After 10,000 miles the transmission had to be replaced - the dealer had never seen this before and could not tell me why this happened. When I got it back it had a significant hesitation upon acceleration and only about 75% of the original power. This Blazer was in the shop 17 times in the forst 6 months for repairs - UNACCEPTABLE!!!! I even contacted GM regarding Lemon Laws/retail trade in options and they were less than helpful. The rear seats squeak every time you hit a bump in the road, and now some oil coolant line needs to be replaced.

After 50 K miles - the repairs are still rolling in!!!

Strength:

Vehicle has ample power out of the hole, but lacks a bit on hills. Pulls my 22' 3000Lbs. boat with no problem (suggest a tranny cooler). Gas mileage is excellent relatively speaking at 23mpg on the highway. Like the styling of the 93'. The rear two piece door an window great for loading and unloading. Turning radius is superb over any others!! currently have 130,000 mile never had to replace any parts that have been described here and it's the same engine. I do replace all fluids regularly and annually which may have reduced wear and tear.

Weakness:

Lower clearence than other SUV's in it's class. Dash depth is a problem when installing a after market stereo/cd layer, has to stick out. Wished the hitch was located higher and license plate intergrated in the spare tire to give more clearance. can't put larger tires with stock height. main thing for me is the low clearance issue, and that the newer models are mainly sold with road tires indicating to me that the main intent of the blazer is not for 4x4 rather to just sit up high. Would like the avaliablity of locking hubs and a posy rear

I purchsed my blazer used with 60k on it for less than $14,000. I would recommed this vehicle to anyone except if you're looking for more clearance .

Good Looks

Weakness:

Everything. Major problems early and often. Some requiring 2-3 trips to the dealer to resolve. Average of 1 to 2 trips to the dealer each month.

I paid $27k expecting to receive a quality product for my money. To say that I was disappointed would be an understatement. I contacted GM regarding my disappointment only to find that they couldn't care less! One good thing that has come from my ownership experience with this vehicle....It convinced me to NEVER own another GM vehicle!! If possible, I would give this vehicle 0 stars.

everything. this vehicle has cost us nothing but money and there is absolutley no support from either the dealer or chevrolet. customer service does not exist here!!!!!!

23 thousand. we would not reccomend this vehicle unless you have way too much money. then you could afford the repair bills. we have contacted the gm headoffice and had no satisfaction from them either. we have paid 5000.00 in repairs in less than 3 years. how reliable is that?

Model Reviewed: Chev Blazer LT

Strength:

Good looking vehicle with lots of luxury options. Adequate space and comfort. 4 wheel drive and ABS in snow country is why I bought it and I wasn't dissapointed with that.

Weakness:

I just returned from a 250 mile trip on the interstate and the transmission has failed for the third time in 5000 miles. The first failure was at 200 miles, the second at 5000 and I've put 500 miles on the latest tranny. The dealer cannot explain the problem and claims they don't see many transmission problems (I seriously doubt this). I got to this site looking for Blazer problems and researching lemon laws.

Paid $28K (after rebate) which was a little heavy but it's loaded. Would I recommend it? Gee, let me think about that. NO!!!!!

Strength:

Smooth shifing automatic transmission, with good acceleration in second and third range. Leather faced seating is fortable.Controls and switches are well placed.Climate control operates well. Convenient lift rear hatch for loading.

Weakness:

Hood fit to fenders is sloppy. Poor vehicle control in windy conditions, as well as a highly noticable noisy interior. Frequent visits to a chev dealer, resulting in a over nite situation, ie;Transmission repair to faulty pump.Replaced leaking water pump. Replace belt adjusters.Replace fuel injectors. Body and door rattles not repairable, as well as in dash noise and rattles

Price paid was about $26,000
Although My experience with this unit is not exactly positive,I suppose there is a place for this SUV, fortunately not with me.The selling dealer has not been cooperative.

Model Reviewed: Blazer ZR2 LS

Strength:

To begin with the pickup on it is very nice and if your into offroading and mudding its probably one of the best Stock suv/trucks you could take off road , The tires are big enough and its got enough clearence and the ride is quite nice offroad. The car handles really well on and off the road

Weakness:

First off the groudeffects that sit right under the bumper are really cheap ... if you plan on offroading expect to get some cracking and possibly tear it off ( its only held on by some cheap plastic pop rivets). And after taking it through the mud it squells for awihle. IT SQUELLS loud but if you do buy a zr2 they will fix most of the probs under the warranty if you take it offroading, and the chevy service department was excellent. Also, expect to spend ALOT on gasoline, the fastest ive gone through a 19 gallon tank of 89 octane gas is 2 days.

The sticker on my car is 29,000 but that is for a fully loaded ZR2. The bose speaker upgrade, in my opinoin is a must. I am 17 at the time and all my friends LOVE the car and even my friends who own regular 4 and 2 door 2000 ls blazers like the car better than thiers. With all that said i think that i am completely happy with my purchase it is everything i expected it to be and so if you dont mind either zip tie-ing the ground effects on or takking them off if your going offroading i would definetally recommend the car.

Strength:

Looks. I've owned Chevys all my life an this is my second 4WD, the first being an S-10 pick-up.

Weakness:

Reliablity, as there is none

I paid 25k for the car and have had nothing but problems with it. First the water pump went. At 20k Miles the engine warning light went on, which according to the manual can indicate anything from a loose gas cap to... In my case the transmission was gone, the mechanic couldn't even check the trans fluid becasue the dipstick was rusted. After the head of service swore to me he personally rested the car my wife drove down the road to which the light came back on along with the smell of something burning. They finally fixed that. Next came the oil leak in my driveway. The car has 35k miles on it and I'm going to sell it for I want no part of this car with no warrantee. This is truely a disappointment as I bought the car becasue I liked the looks and had hoped to drive it forever, little did I know forever was 2 1/2 years away. I give it 1 star because that's the lowest rating.
