Strength:
Great engine-transmission combination . . . wonderful power, smoothly delivered to the road.
Weakness:
Everything else is sub-par. Dashboard is cheaply made, with fisher-price looking buttons and switches. Back seat is horribly small. Body roll is horrendous - the Blazer lumbers through turns and rough roads like a drunken sailor, and the sloppy steering doesn't help! Lack of quality - random clunks, squeaks, and rattles make me and my passengers nervous. Leased. Would not reccommend. Similar Products Used: The Ford/Mercury SUV's are much, much better products. |

Power, stereo, looks
Weakness:
Lack of room in backseat, poor visibility, BUT most importantly I have spent about $1000 on this vehicle and have owned it less than two years. Brakes, battery, fuel pump & sending unit just blew out. Against my better judgment, I bought a Chevrolet thinking that since it is a newer vehicle, SURELY it is well-made and will be reliable. WRONG. I think I will be happy with it if I don't have to have anything major done to it within the next ten years, but otherwise I will never buy another Chevy product. Strength:
Not much
Weakness:
it creaks, this small piece of carbon repetedly gets stuck in a valve causing me to take the car in to get bigtime repairs about once every 2-3 months. I would not reccomend it, it's poorly made and constantly requiers repairs. |

Blazer 4dr
Strength:
It has a powerful engine with good pick up, Many useful interior features, Feels solid when you drive it, also has a good stereo system, also which is a little thing but unusual is it comes with a full size spare.
Weakness:
Shifter is on the steering column, Not a lot of room in the back seat, The dash seems to be extended out more than in earlyer models I paid $28,000, I do recommend it to any one looking for a good SUV. I have driven and Explorer before, and it can't even to begin to compare with the blazer. Also with the new Trailblazer there is no point to spend the money on a BMW, Lexus, or Benz SUV when you can get a sturdier more reliable, road and off-road worthy truck for a lot less. Similar Products Used: 1997 Blazer, The 2000 has much better options, but I still liked the 97' a lot. |

Strength:
Powerful 4.3l engine, respectable fuel economy, good build quality, HVAC, good looks.
Weakness:
BRAKES! they're pretty bad to start with and only get worse with use. It is to easy to overheat them. I would definetly recommend the blazer. I love it. I have let ti sit idling for over ten minutes in 90+ degree heat and have never heard the cooling fan come on. I don't thin their will ever be a better V-6. I owned a MErcury Cougar with a V-6. It was always at the top of its operating temperature. I am a freshman in college in Minnesota and this vehicle is perfect. The snow has never been a problem. I have even passed an expedition in the snow. Even in 2wd it's traction is amazing. Most people say it is top heavy. They are right, but it is an SUV. For an SUV the handling is quite good. especially when compared to the 1970's technology found in a Grand cherokee or durango. As for the ford Explorer. It barely beats a taurus in ground clearance. I'm not a soccer mom, so no thank you. |

Chevrolet Blazer
Strength:
This vehicle not only performs well on dry pavement, but mainly in all conditions. This vehicle handles extremely well off-road which is very important when living in Michigan. The powerful 190 horsepower and 250 ft/lb torque V-6, amazes anyone owning this vehicle. This vehicle has overpowered the Ford Expedition by almost 40 more horses and nearly 60 ft/lbs more torque.
Weakness:
The capacity inside is extremely small and should be improved and as I believe, is being improved by Chevy Corp. in 2001. Placing a pair of skis inside will occupy half the back seat. However, there is alway a ski rack that can be placed on the vehicle. The engine options are only a 4.3 V-6, however, 2001 models are going to be larger and have a V-8 option. We recieved our vehicle at an auction, which we were able to repair. Total cost was about $14,000, which was really worth the buy. This vehicle is overpriced as well as all other SUV's. I would recommend this vehicle over Ford Expedition any day because the Ford is just way under powered and the 4X4 system is not as reliable as Chevrolet. Similar Products Used: A friend of mine owns a '98 Explorer with a V-6 4.0. He dislikes the vehicle after he's done riding in my Blazer. The Blazer is quicker more reliable off-roading, he says, and more comfortable. Sitting in an Oldsmobile Bravada is similar, however, he has it fully loaded and was more comfortable sitting in the leather seats. |

Strength:
Good in bad weather. Drives nicely, seem sturdy.
Weakness:
Wish it was bigger inside. I have the LT, so no leather, so I wish it was a little nicer inside. Don't know where you got your MSRP from. I paid around 27k for mine in 98. I like Chevy so I would probably buy another one. But I would defintely upgrade to a higher class for a nicer interior and features. |

Powerful V6, nice interior and dashboard instrumentation, Beautiful exterior
Weakness:
Fuel Economy is lower than my '94 Blazer Overall, the Blazer impressed me much more than when I drove Explorers and Cherokees. I was very unimpressed by both (steering is horrible on the Ford and a Pinto almost has more power than the V6 Cherokee) and stuck with the Blazer since it had given me a great amount of reliability. A fairly smooth and quiet drive. Brakes are much improved over the '94 model.Powerful engine makes passing easy. The 4 wheel drive electronic transfer case is great! Just flip the switch and the axle locks--a great car to take into the mountains. If you're looking for a smaller American sport utility, the Blazer is the best! Strength:
Great for highway driving: comfy seats, fairly quiet, ample power. The electronic 4WD was a great option, and probably saves gas since it's so easy to switch into/out of 4wd. Good winter vehicle, and the factory roof rack is very easy to find a Thule or ski rack that fits. The 4 door version also has ample seating in the back, even for long-legged passengers. Still looks good on the road after 5 years. Good resale value.
Weakness:
Crappy breaks (I'm sure they've improved since 1994). Had to get a warranty replacement of the transmission as the casing had cracked (!) when the vehicle was 4 years old. Bad on gas, as expected. Expensive. Currently a five year old vehicle, and still runs great. Aside from a transmission problem, no big repairs that were unexpected. Newer models probably have improved breaks. Looks good, has lots of passenger room, good for long trips. Best ski vehicle ever. |
