Strength:

Reliable, foldable rear seats/cargo area, quiet, comfortable (leather and electric seat adjust) CD player is really cool don't need to upbrade - very high tech kinda thing, and parts are cheap cheap CHEAP! Chevy is #1 for cheap parts - people don't consider this - many a junkyard with zillions of Chevy parts :)

Weakness:

Get rattles from jack kit have to adjust sometimes. Rear gate squeaks when dirty - so clean it up and squeaks go away. I have had none of the severe problems people on this site talk about :P This thing has been hit by 3 cars and they just bounce off (2 of them rear ended me hit the tow bar and it smashes them up but it does nothing to the truck!) I give this car an average rating because I feel $23,000 is a lot to pay for what it is. I should have bought one with perhaps more miles on it, but then again maybe would have ended up spending the same on additional repairs - who knows - catch 22 LOL I find it funny how people b itch buying a used car because it breaks - of course it's going to break - it's USED! LOL I have not spent any of my life any more working on fuc king cars and I thank the Blazer for that - IT ALWAYS RUNS! :-D

Not as pretty as a Ford Explorer, but people tell me the Blazer is more reliable and I would tend to agree - but have not actaully dug up stats on it. The blazer was cheaper for the same features and looks almost as nice :) I really like the wheels on the Tahoe LT version which is what I have - very Ferrarri! (is that how you spell it?)

Jeep Grand Cherokee blah blah (very zquirly stearing feels dangerous all the time, and no headroom!), Ford Explorer - nicer interior and exterior, but worse mechanical and electrical.

Strength:

Quiet smooth ride, a lot of power, on-star system, computer system to adjust everything to your preference.

Weakness:

OK, this is the main reason for my review. DO NOT buy this truck if you plan on installing your own stereo system/SUB/AMP/ETC...
After I purchaced this I found out that I couldnt install a head unit, SUB or AMP without stripping the factory head unit which controls everything in the SUV. i.e. user preferences, alarm, etc...
This truck came with a BOSE system that the dealer raved about. I think it sucks and its even worse because I'm stuck with it.

This SUV is great. It rides like a car but has the all the advantages of a good SUV. It is the strongest MID-SUV out there.

I love my Blazer!!!! It looks great, rides great, has great features and is very customizable!! I cant believe all the bad reviews on this list!!! I know tons of people with Blazers, and they have nothing but good things to say about their vehicles!!! The reviews on here are either way good or way bad, I think the overall poor reviews on the Blazers are wrong, and unfair!! What would you rather drive a Ford?? A Dodge?? LOL!!!! A rice burner??? Gimme a break, Chevy ALL THE WAY! Blazers rock!

Strength:

The leather seat, cd player and the two-tone paint job
the seats were incredably comfortable to ride in.
It was a great truck until that Friday afternoon

Weakness:

It honestly did not have any weaknesses that I was aware about excpet
the steering wheel that almost took three lives.

YOU CAN REPLACE METAL BUT NOT PEOPLE!! THATS WHY I RATED A ONE STAR
*MY ADVISE* IF YOU HAVE THIS KINDOF TRUCK GET THE STEERING CHECKED PLEASE
I loved my '97 chevy blazer 4dr 2wd never had a problem with it until
Friday June 29,2001. My sister and a family friend and myself were going down the road around a curve at 35mph and my steering wheel locked, causing my truck to nose dive in a ditch and flipping three times along with this my air bags did not come out. I was driving and my sister was in the passenger seat all three of us were wearing our seatbelts but my 15yr old sister was thrown from my truck because her seat belt came undone. Three lives were almost taken that Friday after noon and I called General Motors to find out that they do not care about my accident. So now I have to take legal action to get some where with my accident.
So if anyone has had this same problem or can help me or has any advise
please feel free to email me at MCWAEW2000@aol.com
There are injuries but I did not list them. But no deaths thank GOD
I REALLY NEED TO KNOW WHERE TO TURN OR SEE IF I'M THE ONLY PERSON THIS HAS HAPPENED TO PLEASE EMAIL ME MCWAEW2000@AOL.COM

Strength:

Good looks, smooth shifting tranny, quick, good mpg(for a gas-guzzling SUV)

Weakness:

Spare tire mount got stuck...thus making impossible to acess the cargo area. CD Player just stopped working...when I took it to the Chevy dealer to have it looked at, they told me it would be $225 just to mail it to the factory. Tranny needed rebuilt at 41000...the guy who leased the truck before I bought it put something in the fluid to gum it up.
Cheap looking buttons on the dash.

Has a balance of good and downright annoying qualities. It's hard to come up with a long view, being as I've only owned it less than a year. I really expected better quality from such a distinguished name as the Blazer. Chevy does not stand behind their product in any way, shape, or form.

Strength:

Very reliable, for me anyway. I routinely (once a year?) use STP stop-leak in oil and another stop-leak in cooling system. This seems to keep seals from failing which seems to be a common problem. Very good in snow, best I have ever driven.

Weakness:

Gas mileage is a bit poor, some shakes and rattles here and there. Engine has always sounded funny.

Nice vehicle, very low maintenance. Only oil changes, tuneup, tires, etc until 100k. Then a cooling system servicing and exhaust system replacement, that's it. I think I had the brakes done once also.

Like it better than Explorer, rate it equal to my Ranger but for different purpose.

Lots Of Power, Towing Capability, Looks Great With Black/Silver Paint Job. Many Usefull Driver Accomidations

Weakness:

It Could Use A Little More Off The Line Speed, But At Highway Speeds, It Cruise's!!, Very Top Heavy And Have To Take Sharp Turns Slow

My Blazer Was A Great Puchase, It Looks Great, It's Reliable. I Dont Understand How All These Other People Say The Blazer IS Garbage. I Feel(And WIth Almost 10 Years Of Blazer Driving) That A Blazer Is A Great Bang For Your Buck. All You Have To Do Is Give It The Regular Tune ups, And They'll Last Forever

Strength:

Best qualities: Im looking forward to the winter so I can use the 4 wheel drive. The gas milage so far is okay. I love the ride and I feel safe in it.

Weakness:

Now that I read a few reviews I also noticed that hot air blows at my feet when I drive it..I will definitly bring this up when I bring it in for service. The rattling drives me crazy....but when u turn up the radio u can hardly hear it (lol) thank god it's a lease.........

The minute I drove this Blazer off the lot I was in love with it. This is my first suv and so far the only problem I am having is the rattling noise on the passenger side. I brought it to the dealer and they claim to have fixed it saying that it was something in the door panel that was rubbing up against something. I drove away from the service department and the rattling started again. I am bringing it back in a few days to have a test drive with the service department. I should have came to this site to review this car before I got this blazer because now im afraid that I made a mistake in getting this one. Hopefully I will not have the same problems. It's a lease car so maybe I saved myself..........

Strength:

Dependable. 4x4 is great in the snow. Nice features and options. Fairly cheap to fix. Great engine (not the components, the main engine block)!!!!!!! will fun forever if taken care of.

Weakness:

EGR valve clogs far to frequently!!!
Typical Chevy body. (rusts in the tail gate and under the doors.)
Gas milage is horrific.
Digital dash typically has problems and is expensive to fix.
Too boxy and does not ride well on highway, especially on windy days. (Hold on for your life!!!!)

watch out when it rolls 100K

Ok truck. Very dependable. Starts and runs well (Bourght it at 70k and I now have 130k).

I suggest buying this truck for a second car, but not a primary everyday use vehicle.

After this truck rolls 100K, it will nickle and dime you to death. It will always start and run smoothly, however, outside engine components are only warrenied to 100K for a reason...

Dont expect to get much back for this when it comes time to sell or trade in.

Bottom line.... If you can handle a body that will surley rust, and a engine thats components will nickle and dime you to death, and a quick depreciating truck, this is a good vehicle.
