Strength:

Very comfortable ride with lots of room. I have the LT with third seat and it has come in very handy. I think it has a much sportier appearance than the expedition as well.

Weakness:

I have had several electrical problems with it. I bought it just 3 months ago but already have 13,000 miles on it. Problems so far:
Both rear windows stopped working. Took it in to have it repaired and it was...2 days later and the passenger rear window is not working again. Expecting the other to fail anytime now.
Brakes go out, I'm not talking about the normal underpowered brake problem but that they completely disappear. It is like being on ice and I have nearly been involved in at least half a dozen wrecks because of it. Took it in and dealer said they could not find any problem.
Air Bag failure, the air bag light started coming on and going off randomly. When I took it in for the windows I asked them to check it out...they reported that their diagnostics equipment reported no problem...I told them that wasn't good enough and to check it again...they ended up replacing the drivers side side impact air bag in the seat..so far no more air bag light.
Radio went into Lock mode...we never entered a code and the tahoe never lost power...just went out one morning and the radio was in lock mode.
Traction Assist locked in "off mode". Just driving down the road from Dallas to Houston and the traction assit off light comes on..pressing the button had no effect. After stopping for gas and killing it and restarting it the light went off.
When I took it in to get all of the above fixed it came out with only the windows and radio fixed (and one window is broke again as stated above) and the lumbar support was broken when I picked it up. Someone inflated it all the way and it won't defalte (drivers seat)...back to the dealer I go.

I paid 34k for this Tahoe LT which I felt was a good price...now I'm beginning to wonder. I have had several electrical probelms in the short time that I have had it and more keep popping up all the time. I explained to the dealer that there must be some sort of underlying problem leading to all of these electrical failures. (Computer, faulty ground, moisture, something)..but they couldn't get me in and out fast enough. I'm taking it back to the dealer again tomorrow and we'll see how things turn out.

Strength:

Great vech. a lot of room in back see and cargo area.

Weakness:

Well I had to replace the rotor, brakes, 4WD acuator, AC refr. been refilled twice. mirror stop working, door handle cracked. they had a recall on the wiper motor after I replaced it(figures). all that has happend uner 80,000 miles. lots of problems with this one

would recomend 2 door for off roading and a 4 door for family. bought it of of another user in 98 had it for about 2 years now. I've had to have the r134a refrigent replaced in my AC 3 times since i bought it. I think the workman ship on it was poorly done and expect that newer models.

Model Reviewed: Tahoe LS

Strength:

Outstanding engine power, very roomy (seats my husband an over 200lb bodybuilder, my two tall teenage sons and a 100lb dog with ease), front and rear AC (love it!), headrest on third row seats, great sounding audio system w/subwoofer, smooth ride, highway handling is great especially in LA traffic, sits up high, second row folds down flat for someone to sleep while others ride in third row, automatic headlights.

Weakness:

Side steps too narrow, other than that, nothing.

I would recommend the Tahoe, sorry THE ALL NEW TAHOE, to anyone looking for a large luxury SUV. It's worth the money, and I'm not easy to impress.:)

I own a 93 Izusu Rodeo. This SUV has plenty of power but as boys got older, leg room became a major problem, this vehicle was just not built for comfort. Test drove the Ford Expedition 7 times, the glove compartment JUST FELL OPEN!! If something that minor fell apart, I was not impressed. Highway handling was not impressive, and third row was difficult to access and was not comfortable, not headrest. Also test drove the GMC Yukon, which is basically the same vehicle as the Tahoe, just slight changes to the front grill and name change, but they are mostly identical inside.

Strength:

The room available to move around in the back seat is great, especially if you have a little one to strap in a carseat (or two). The rear A/C is a dream and the rear storage space is huge! Gets decent highway mileage on a full tank, however, city mileage leaves alot to be desired.

Weakness:

Well, considering we're on our third set of tires in only 13 months, this is a big one. GM insists on using defective tires that cannot be balanced properly (and since it's a lease, why should we pay for an upgrade?). Other than the tires and having to deal with less than courteous customer service, the brakes are also a definite weakness-very spongy and needed to be replaced earlier than expected. We've also had the power steering go out on us twice in 13 months!

Basically love the style, roominess, and features; but hate the poor craftsmanship and customer service we've received. I hate to say that, after owning GM's all my life (except for 2 Hondas), I am very disappointed in the '99 Tahoe's performance and reliability. Actually regret trading in our '95!

Strength:

It has truck suspension but, rides like a car. alot of accessories like luxury car. Great turning radius, especially for such a roomy vehicle. For such a large vehicle it gets good gas mileage. Since we have had this SUV for such a short time I am not able to tell much about reliability, but a frien of our had one for two years and had no problems with his. The third seats are easily taken out or positioned forward. There are alot of little extras that you don't find in a foreign vehicle.

Weakness:

none

38,000. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a larger more comfortable vehicle.

I would recommend this vehicle, I'm not normally a GM fan. This won me over from the imports.(I can't believe it)

Strength:

Definately roomy and stylish

Weakness:

At about 28000 miles I needed a brake job not to mention at only 38000 miles(right AFTER my bumper to bumper had expired) my A/C Compressor needed replacing, that knocked me out 1300.00 bucks. Brakes are spongy and definately a gas lover

I paid about 32000.00 for my new 99 Tahoe, I would recommend this truck, I guess you have to take the good with the bad...
