Strength:
Interior appointments and details; interior layout and functionality; third row seat; spacious interior; smooth and supportive ride; great captain's chairs with side bolster supports and lumbar support.
Weakness:
Gas guzzler; stereo system. I've waited 6 years to get this SUV (actually, it's a SLUT - Sport Luxury Utility Truck). My husband doesn't like trucks and I had to convince him that the Tahoe rides like a car and is convenient and safe. Obviously, he's convinced! He drives a Lexus everyday and loves to drive the Tahoe. It feels solid, powerful and smooth. The interior appointments are of much higher quality than the Ford Expedition, Explorer, Dodge Durango or the like. Very good build quality and luxurious, yet functional interior. The third seat option is a must and is very useful. The engine is powerful and quick, but sucks a lot of juice. Great SLUT overall! Brakes (1997 Model) - Buy the 2 door if ya dont need the space of a 4 door. The 2 door handles better with the sport suspension!Handles off road stuff like a goat!On road ride is great also, only other truck that rode as good was the LX470 which was about $15000 more, that buys a lot of gas!! |

Tahoe 4Dr LT
Strength:
Excellent value. Fun to drive. Good pickup and power for size of vehicle.
Weakness:
None. (pre 1997 Model) - I have put 75,000 miles on my 1996 Tahoe LT in three and a half years. I have had very few problems with it, and feel strongly that this is the best vehicle I've ever owned. I expect to purchase Tahoes for as long as Chevy manufactures them. |

Black Chevy Tahoe
Strength:
Lots of power, very comfortable ride, excellent OEM stereo, plenty of room for everything
Weakness:
Gas guzzling, little bit noisy, product defects like rear defroster won't work, left socket tailgate bad, brake pads & tires dies quick,.. this is after 25000 of miles on it. (1999 Model) - Excellent fun ride, quick response & pick up.. Plenty of room to store anything you need.. Plus the sits fold down for extra room, Ot of 10 of 10.. I give it a 8. |

Strength:
This vehicle has a great ride and is very comfortable on long trips. The automatic 4 wheel drive is great on snow packed roads. The gas milage is good for this size vehicle (17.5). The six way power seat on the passengers side is a plus and the seat heaters are fabulous on those cold sub-zero winter mornings. The air conditioner cools the interior down very quickly, even in Florida in the summer time. ABS brakes are working well especially in the snow.
Weakness:
The brake pads must be replaced every 30,000 miles (1998 Model) - All systems are working well after 65,000 miles. Works well off road and in transporting materials from town yet fits right in when going to the symphony. This is a great all-around vehicle. |

this is a great looking truck, it has it all, big v8 leather all the bells and whistles...
Weakness:
far too many repairs i drive my wifes 1990 toyota camry more and haven't done 1/10th the repairs to it. i really thought i'd have this truck for 10yrs and 200,000miles but at 5yrs 109,000 i'm ready to give up... this is the most money i have spent on a vehicle (more than my first house) and i love the style, ride and power. the on going repair bills are killing me and i purchased the extended warranty, it seems everything that goes wrong with it isn't covered. funny when you read the reviews of owners of 2000-2001 tahoes they rate them as 5's hold onto it for a few years and see how you feel. it has just let me down again 100miles from home towing my 23ft trailer (the reason i bought it) the transmission is now sitting in the dealers workshop waiting for the warranty company to approve repairs. the worst part is all my friends have ford diesels and are laughing at this chevy lover... Chevrolet Tahoe
Strength:
Smooth ride, interior roominess and comfort, good torque. Fair mileage...10-11 when towing/ 16-18 when not towing.
Weakness:
I have replaced the started 4 times in the past two years. I just learned that the exhaust manifold is too close to the solenoid and tends to 'cook' the starter and surrounding wires. (Towing makes this problem worse.)A Parts Manager told me that on the truck models, Chevrolet has installed a heat shield, but has not done so for the Tahoe and Suburban. I plan to ask for a shield to be installed. I have generally had a good experience with my Tahoe. I purchased it primarily to tow a 26 foot travel trailer. It provides comfort and adequate power while towing. Similar Products Used: None |

Weakness:
Fuel Mileage, replaced starter at 49K miles. Would love to see a diesel offered in the 4dr Tahoe. Very happy with the truck. Love the barn doors over any other rear end setup on the market. Good ride, steering, comfortable interior with captains chairs, good power by the 5.7 350 V8. Plenty of interior room. Would definately buy another one, probably will replace wife's 2000 Explorer with another Tahoe. Stereo system Biggest factor in purchasing this vehicle was the ride. This SUV rides like a luxury car. one highway, it is smooth and quite and absorbs bumps well. I purchase this SUV with the 5.3L engine which provide more than adequate power. Amazingly, I have average about 18MPG in highway. Additionally, I love the exterior design.
