Strength:
Smooth ride, interior dimensions, good handling
Weakness:
Unreliable, afraid to keep past warranty time. I have had it into the shop over 12 times in 20 months, three times this month. Chronic AC problems thay they cannot identify. Sme problem with the high RPM's. Three recalls so far...Front end noise that after three tries ended up needing stabilizer bars replaced. First time told it was maladjusted hood. Ha! |

Nice Interior, Exterior, Design. Smooth ride for now !
Weakness:
Everything you can imagine goes wrong with this car, it will be at the repair shop more than your driveway. MASS GAS HOG, and sucks oil like it does gas. To many recalls/bulletins over 100. This car is not worth its trouble. If you are out on the market to get a new vehicel, I suggest you look else where, unless there's been some serious updates for these SUV's sicne 2002. So I have had such terrible problems with mine, and It's now a lemon, I filed a suite with a Lemon Law Lawyer, and GM settled with me on 3,500.00 whooptie doo, and I payed 40,000 for it haha, This car is nice, but you got to get past all the problems your probally going to have with it. Highway passing. AutoTrack
Weakness:
Poor low RPM power, L & R sides of windshield heavily distorted (appears common), slow steering, underbody spare-tire, cheesy dashboard, door-window trim/gasketing very poorly installed (seems semi-common) Frame rigid, suspension very good, ride is better than average for class. Engine has great power at top end, but very poor low-end torque hurts accel from stoplights, off-roading, and trailering. Poor build quality. Similar Products Used: 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee |

I posted my summary a few months back and am glad to say we are out of the Trailblazer. Too many problems, especially with high rpm's on start-up, sometimes lasting more than 2 minutes. Made the vehicle surge, almost burning rubber out of the driveway. Customer Service finally said, after numerous trips to the dealer, that the vehicle was operating within "normal" ranges, however they couldn't give me anything in writing. It was to the point of hiring a lawyer, when, low and behold, the dealer came through and provided us with a nice trade-in on another vehicle, (Tahoe). My point here is don't give up and stay on the dealer. They don't want trouble and most should meet half way if they want to stay in business. For those that are having safety problems, like the high rpm's, I suggest you take the time and call the National Highway Safety Commission, which is listed in the back of the owners manual. I have filed a complaint, eventhough, we got rid of the vehicle. I just got information from them in the mail that they have other similar complaints and once they get enough they will contact Chevrolet/GM, and make them fix the problems. Good Luck!! |

Strength:
Great engine and comfort. Stock stereo is one of the best I have heard and the design is sporty and tough.
Weakness:
Terrible stock tires and a few bugs that will have you back to the dealer for things that are more annoying than anything. The looks, power and speed of the 4.2 inline six are what sold us on the vehicle. Gas mileage is low 20's what we expected. We have had a few small things that we have taken it back to the dealer all covered under warranty. The tie rod ends going bad at 29,000 miles was the biggest concern. The stock tires are terrible as far as not lasting. My 2002 has 32,000 miles and we just had to replace all 4 tires. This is a great vehicle if you want something large enough for a family and fast enough to play in the passing lane. Similar Products Used: Ford Ranger, Dodge Dakota and Chevrolet S-10 |

Strength:
All the power I need. Good ride and gas mileage on my last trip (2500 miles round trip) was better then I expected (Low 20s).
Weakness:
One recall so far-every Chevy I've ever owned has at least 1 recall!). Minor problems. A rear latch handle that broke and a cloth panel under the front passenger seat that came undone. Sometimes the engines rev's high for a few miles before it idles properly. Bought this because of the gas mileage (rated slightly higher then a few other SUVs) and the room in the vehicle. Other SUVs like the Xterra have car like space inside. The trailblazer is a bit bigger. Similar Products Used: None. This is my first SUV. |

Strength:
Stable truck. Strong suspension, powerful engine and comfortable ride.
Weakness:
wind & engine noise plastic panels fuel consumption poor paint job Nice & stable truck. Never had roadside problem. Engine is powerful but acceleration is rather slow. Seats are comfortable. After less than a year, the plastic covers and panels in the doors & dashboard became loose & started squeaking. Engine & wind on the highway is very loud. Coin holder does not fit Canadian currency. I suffered a cut in my head when I entered the car with the sunglass holder open in the overhead console. The corners are sharp and can be bad news for the driver and front passenger. Be ready to burn fuel. FM radio is poorly designed with no memory channel shown. Sound quality is good. Rear wiper blade has slow and fast setting, no interval w/c would be more appropriate. 4WD stopped working twice. Wheels lock on tight turns using 4WD on dry surface. They say its normal? I can feel the door panel bulge out when window is closed. I've been to the dealer 3 times for a paint repair job due to premature corrosion under the doors. God knows where else they might be. Power, lots of room, maneuverability, comfortable.
Weakness:
Only have a couple of complaints. I will be making an appointment soon to have the A/C checked out. It will work fine for awhile then quit for no reason. Also I have had problems with rear window wiper working properly a couple times. I love this vehicle. It has great styling, is comfortable and rides great! It has a powerful inline 6 cylinder engine that gives you excellent power. I didn't get one with all the bells and whistles, but it suites me just fine. Short trips or long trips I love driving this SUV. Similar Products Used: 1998 GMC Sonoma, 2000 GMC Sonoma |

Height of vehicle is nice. Smooth ride.
Weakness:
Seat limitations. Center console design. Engine that seems to want to die when stepping on the gas. Miserable gas mileage, but I knew that going in. I must start this review by saying that I have not did not want to buy an SUV until I saw the new Trailblazer. Wife went and looked at them while I was at work and then she called me and I went and checked out her choice. It was nice and seemed to have plenty of room. We did not purchase the vehicle for luxury and opted out for the leather seats and so forth. Just wanted a dependable vehicle that we could use to transport our Mastiff. We have not had the vehicle a week but here are my conclusions thus far. 1. I am 6'4" tall and as stated earlier in a review that if you are over 6', the seat will not go back far enough. I am looking directly through the sun visor. I have to sort of scrunch down to look through the entire window. I have laid the seat back and that seems to help a bit. 2. The center console is extremely hard on my right calf muscle. Since I have such long legs, I have them leaning up against the console. I have taken a 1.5" wide by 8" long piece of self sticking foam and stuck it to the side of the console. This might work. I just got around to doing it yesterday. Hope it works or as I told my wife, I will not be able to drive this vehicle much at all. 3. When stepping on the gas, I have noticed that the vehicle hesitates. Both in forward and reverse gear. My 2000 Silverado did the same thing. Rather odd to me. It can be rather scary, when at an intersection and you step on the gas and the engine stalls. I am hoping that there are no major mechanical problems with this vehicle as I will not think twice about getting rid of it. 4. This thing gets absolutely the worse gas mileage I have ever seen. My 2002 Vette has, on average on the DIC, 23.8 mpg. This vehicle is nowhere close to that. Oh well.... suxxors but what can you do huh? Similar Products Used: Many HMMWV's |

Strength:
None. It sucks entirely.
Weakness:
See above. I have many more complaints, but I'm getting so aggravated I can barely type. Worst. Car. Ever. Bought it in August 2001 and was having ENGINE replaced by October 2001. This was after 3 extended stays at the dealership. Currently, in addition to the numerous recalls, The passenger door leaks and is full of water, the wipers barely work, and there is a roaring from the engine and no power when the A/C is on. The doors lock and unlock intermittently and locked between me getting out of the front and going to get my young children out of the back. Since my keys (both sets) were in the car, I had to break a window to get my children out. I cannot WAIT until this lease is up. |
