Strength:
WHY DID WE BUY ANOTHER ONE? It is unbelievalbe in the snow. It is roomy, and comfortable. To me, it is the best looking SUV in it's category, and of course we believe everyone and everything deserves a second chance. That's what the warranty is for!!!
Weakness:
see "summary" My wife and I purchased a 2002 Trailblazer last year for her to drive in the snow to work. She put over 30,000 miles on it, and we decided to upgrade to the 2003 with the 0% financing last week. Here are the problems we experienced with the 2002: #1. Annoying hesitation when accelerating. #2. Annoying squeaking when going over bumps. #3. Rear windshield wiper motor needed replaced. #4. Front headlight went out. #5. Numerous recalls Similar Products Used: 2001 Mazda Tribute, and 2002 Trailblazer |

Chevy Trailblazer LS
Strength:
nice looking vehicle, feels safe and solid, love the sunroof, good sound system, handles well, good travel car
Weakness:
trans control module was out when I bought it(the first snow I couldn't get it out of my driveway!), signal lights went out almost immediately, had to replace a part in the rear wiper assembly, there is a hesitation when the accelerator is depressed(they reprogrammed the corresponding electrical component, but it didn't help),just rec'd a recall notice on the security system and a letter warning that some 02 models may have a cracking of an engine cylinder bore liner. The most aggravating thing is the hesitation in acceleration, however. Sometimes a clunking noise when shifting from reverse back to drive also. I paid what I consider a lot of $$ for this vehicle, and I shouldn't have to deal with all this BS. Good news is I purchased the extended warranty! Also had a tailight go out--all this since 9/02. Bought in 9/02 new with about 7500 miles. Love the lines, power(V6) is just so-so, but adequate. Rides ok but a little noisy. Gas mileage about 16 in town and 22 on highway. Wish I had researched this vehicle before I bought it. I want to like it but it just won"t let me. Similar Products Used: This car is my very first SUV. |

Strength:
POWER, 4X4 capabilities in 4+ feet of snow here in Denver, stereo, towing, cargo room
Weakness:
Gas mileage isn't great, but not bad. slight hesitation when floored, small gas tank, but that has been fixed, could be more trimmed out After owning a truck, I thought the SUV crowd was overdone. Once I bought my Trailblazer, I have totally turned. Everyone who has ridden in it has nothing but great things to say as well. I definately will be turning myself to this vehicle. I have none.
Weakness:
Do not buy the Trailblazer, you will be disappointed. Started having problems day afterI drove it off the lot. Rear coil springs needed to get replaced, steering alignment was off, Front seals needed to be replaced. The truck still makes a vibration noise at 52 to 59 mph. Chevrolet says this is normal from the torque converter. It's very annoying to listen to. |

Strength:
smooth riding on long trips; love the extra power points for dvd players, etc.
Weakness:
first of all there was a really loud engine sound, sort of like a "winding". then the engine light came on, took it in to be serviced, i guess they just reset the switch, because less than a week later, the light was back on and the sound never stopped. now they have said that its something to do with the fan or something. called onstar when all this happened and they said it looked like something with the pcm module. hopefully it will be fixed this time when the part comes in. in the mean time, the brake light went out, had them order me a light, then they said it was a bad circuit board, so that's been ordered too. also the back window fell off track and that had to be re-set. now, when you turn a very sharp curve at slow speed, there is a very loud squeak sound. will have to have that looked at when in for the other ordered parts. so far, this is it, hopefully they will get fixed and that's the end of it. the dealer has been really nice, except was disappointed when they just "reset" the engine light. oh, one last thing, my onstar quit working, onstar said it was something within the car... The 2002 Trailblazer has a very smooth ride, great on the highway. Poor Gas mileage though. Overall, very roomy for my family. Love the leather interior and moon roof. Car done really great this winter. had no problems getting around in the snow. Love the stereo system with 6 cd changer. Cargo room is great, love the little "cubby" in the cargo. great for car washing materials. Have had several problems though. see weaknesses -- Similar Products Used: 2000 Ford Escape - NO PROBLEMS!; 1999 Dodge stratus -- don't buy, too many electrical probs.... |

Strength:
Power, towing, value, ride, turning radius, its better looking than the Ford. 100 more horsepower than the Xtera with 3 more mpg and way more room.
Weakness:
Does not corner at high speeds well. I would like stiffer springs and better tires. The paint is so soft that you can almost scratch it with your finger nail but its probably the same as all of rest. I have 31,000 mile on it now with several thousand towing. The only failure was a bad brake light bulb. I get 21 to 22 mpg at 75 mph, 18 or 19 back and forth to work. The cooling fan will make a lot of noise when its cold for about 1 block and this is normal, the manual says so. The computer controls the fan by adjusting a valve in the fan clutch. When the oil in the clutch is to cold it does not flow fast enough but its only for a minute. |

Strength:
All the features and more than a luxury vehicle! The Bose stereo is a definite must for an add-on. The Exterior design is beautiful. 275 horsepower is amongst the highest I have seen on the market --- more than a Land Rover or other luxury or high powered SUV.
Weakness:
The name, "Trailblazer" is not a good name, considering, this name is similar to "Blazer", when in fact, these two vehicles are two worlds apart! Whether I am just glad to be out of a small foreign sporty car or not, the Trailblazer is very cool! The design is great, the features are abundant, 275 horsepower is very powerful, built in rack on top, no stupid tire hanging from the back door like most SUV's, beautiful vehicle that rides well and has more features than most luxury SUV's, all without having to look like all the other yuppies who drive BMW X500's!! Weakness:
poor interiors quality, a lot of plastic, paid too much for that. I have used it for two months and I hear a rattle that I have not been able to identify. gear shifts take too long to change from 1rst to 2nd, Great performance, on and off road, gas consumption not bad, great exterior, modest interiors vs. grand cherokee Similar Products Used: grand cherokee ltd. |
