Strength:

Engine-Tranny combo is love at first stomp, tight fit, finish inside & out. Roomy (I'm 6'1" 235lbs.)& Handles day-to-day driving very well. Rides smoother than my dad's 2001 Caddie Deville. Mucho truck for the $.

Weakness:

Bigger gas tank is sorely needed. Also (suprise!) the mpg sux. Anywhere from 13-15 in city driving conditions. Also, the rear lighter cover dents the leather on back seat when it's folded down-engineering oversight, along with the rear headrests which are awkwardly exposed when seats are folded down. Ford has better design here.

Great Truck! Roomy, Tight turning radius, tight, solid feel and super engine/tranny. Quality feel to controls and interior. Way to go GM! Little things set it apart from everything else I tested - dome lights are located as to not blind driver at night-almost everything is one-finger control. I can set cruise w/out looking or taking hand off wheel-same w/ radio & AC. Very tough on the inside-I have 4 dogs and carry tools around-it's built to take some knocks! Great city truck & love it in the snow. Easy to drive w/ gloves on. Actually FUN to drive, unlike the schoolbus-like Explorer. My friend has a BMW X5 & while he wins the snob contest, we both agree this is a sweet ride for more than $20K less. Definately best in class. Tried Envoy -fake wood overdose & GMC dealers are few compared to Chevy. Durango has quality issues, Cherokee too (Owned one). Honda Pilot is nice, but they don't give you a break on the financing & it's really more of a minivan.

Strength:

The engine is a rocket. Feels more like a sports car than truck on takeoff. Matter of fact, I've put a few sports cars in their place when they challenged me. There's no roll on turns. I never feel any tip, which is impressive for an SUV. The cabin is safe, secure, and fun. Lot's of toys to keep the man busy and comfort for the wife. Stops on a dime.

Weakness:

Gas mileage, of course. Turns more like a truck with steering, of course.

My first SUV and probably the only model in my mind from now on. I have only owned cars in the past. Trucks were always clunky to me and I saw SUV as underpowered gas hogs for me who prefers GT Pontiac engines with muscle and ability to curve on a dime. I was really impressed when I took it out to Colorado and drove from Co. Springs to Denver. I was rolling with the traffic, looked down, realized I was humming along at 110 mph. Felt like I was doing 55! The wife looked at Cadillacs, but now all she wants is her Trailblazer.

Tested the Envoy, comparable, but not as pretty. Tested a V8 Jeep and a Ford Explorer, they were no match.

Strength:

Super onroad ride, smooth and lots of room for driver and passenger.Good power!

Weakness:

Terrible offroad, worst positioning for the wiper switch. Rear seats don't folddown flat enough.Cruise control needs work. Allwheeldrive is quirky it works but yanks hard when catches.

Don't buy ! Rent this suv first! as you will notice a great onroad ride. Has a funky wiper switch, and this suv should not be taken offroad as it is not made for it you will get stuck easily. The allwheel drive is just ok as it has a tendancy to yank as it catches the road. Not very good low 4 gear ratio. Not easy to get in and out of 4 low. I would never buy this suv....

Strength:

The engine, is great. I can easily beat many cars off the line at the light. you can feel it push you in the seat at full acceleration. (Not like a twin turbo Corvette, you can feel it unlike some other automobiles I've driven). The styling is awesome too, so much better than the outdated Blazer. The interior too is better than the Blazer, not necessarily the materials, just the way it is layed out. Not so driver oreinted. It looked like the Blazers interior up front was twisted towards the driver. I didn't like that at all. The auto floor shifter I like better than the column too. It also rides really high, great for the snow.

Weakness:

I can' stand the body roll on this bad boy, I really have to slow down to take turns. But on straight aways it is awesome. Because the suspension is so soft it takes bumps like no other, but the body roll is outragous. I also have a real hard time trying to smoke the tires on it, even though it has a 275 horse engine, and most of the torque comes in between 1500-3000 RPMs. I could spin the tires better on the Blazer.

Great, I love this SUV, it pulls hard, shifts good, and the steering is nimble. I would recommend this over anything, because Ford sucks (I'm a Chevy guy), and this is the best midsize SUV out on the market. IT will beat any foreign SUV out there.

Model Reviewed: TrailBlazer LS

Strength:

Strong, reiliabe engine. The Vortex L6 gets us anywhere up here where we live. Tranny shifts smooth, and the A4WD works like a charm.

Weakness:

Nothing major. Some options are not available on the LS, like the AM/FM 6 CD changer, but oh well. ANd L/R back can't fold down with the driver's seat all the way back. Bad because everyone, including my wife, is over 6 feet tall.

Now THIS is an SUV! It's not a "yuppie in the city" station wagon like you find on the useless "mini's". The 270 ponies get me through the hills and mountains, and the A4WD makes it real safe for my wife to drive to work in the winter.

Strength:

1. The engine is strong and is getting better gas mileage as the engine breaks in. 2. Sound system is a Bose - Excellent! 3. We can carry six passengers comfortably, and that is nice when we go skiing with our friends. 4. Plenty of options that makes the driver feel at ease.

Weakness:

1. The engine can be loud at very high acceleration. Overall, it doesn't bother us since the engine is producing lots of torque and speed. For an inline V-6, it is very smooth. 2. No lock for fuel tank doors. It would be nice to know that no one could siphon out or sabotage you gasoline.

The new TrailBlazer EXT is a great mid-size SUV. The engine and leg room inside is what we love the most. With front and side airbags, this is one safe SUV for your family. My wife drives the new TrailBlazer, and I wanted her in a safer vehicle. We live in Colorado, where SUVs are a common sight.

Strength:

powerful and quiet engine, roomy, comfortable seats, easy pull down seats in the rear and great storage.

Weakness:

Not enough features on the LS model. Also you cannot upgrade features as easily due to the infored system these cars now use.

I am really enjoying this car. It istylish, roomy, the engine is completley quiet, has a great stereo system and a powerful engine. I am so stoked on this car. I have driven many of cars and have not enjoyed one as much as I enjoy this one. But always remember you need to research the exact car you are buying cause you can get a lemon on any car or suv you buy

Strength:

In-Line 6 engine at 270 hp that really produces. Smooth shifting transmission. Great legroom front and rear. Very comfortable rear seats -- better than Cherokee or Explorer. Rear seatback folds almost flat, better than Explorer, but Cherokee goes completely flat. Sound system really pumps and the AM/FM/CD/Cassette is great. All controls are ergonomically designed with large knobs and buttons. Dual climate control is nice since my wife tends to like it cooler than I do and there is a rear A/C control with two vents and heat vents. Nice under floor storage in back and two side storage areas. Center console can hold cassettes and CDs.

Weakness:

After only 1300 miles so far -- NONE. I hope I can return after the warranty expires to continue to review it favorably. My 1995 Ford Aerostar minivan has 200,000 miles and still runs great. Hope this vehicle is as good.

We traveled from Florida to the Great Smokey Mts. in NC to Cherokee area and the engine is great! I am a Ford person and never thought I would buy a GM product. However, after comparing with the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ford Explorer, the Trailblazer has them beat with comparable equipment for the price. The message/note recorder is useful since I previously would have to get out a notepad and pen. Getting forgetful! The HomeLink system is handy since I have two garages each with its own door opener.
