Looks...my other car is a 68 Mustang and love the classic look. All the luxuries make it a great place to live since I drive 3 hours roundtrip to/from work daily. 4 wheel ABS disc keep you feelin' safe. Love the fold down seats and after all this time the interior still looks new. Can't say enough good stuff about it!
Weakness:
The issue with visibility to the rear was solved by removing backseat headrests. Goodyear tires sucked. Replaced two almost right away due to belt separation and then had to replace another at about 30,000. Low profile tires a pain! Wish the antennae was stiffer...can't put a jack ball on it. Biggest dissatisfier was having to pay mark up and now a year later the new ones are way cheaper. Lesson learned: Don't buy cars until after in production 3 years! This is actually my second one. The first was totalled by a Navigator at high speed. I actually came out of it pretty good with bad bruises etc. Anyway, love the look and after putting 30,000 miles on it have had only minor issues. Brakes needed to be replaced and I messed up the rotor a little, door seal started coming off but dealership fixed with no problem. Seems like the mpg (20/23) and sluggishness are improving with age as engine loosens up. Bought it knowing it wasn't a race car and I just love it. Quiet inside, good audio, roomy, carries lots but not a p.u. truck, have used on 4000 mile roundtrip with comfort. Great for just cruisin'. Deep Cranberry Rules!! Similar Products Used: GMC Jimmy |

Strength:
It was very nostalgic. My wife said it was like a "grownup Volkswagen"--the instruments were nicely arranged and nearly aircraft-like in their sophistication--lots of nice little trim touches--overall pretty good fit. The car was spacious enough for 5 big 'uns.
Weakness:
The 4 cyl was a little weak--visibility a little restricted due to forward pitch of body (the thing that looks so cool)--surprisingly bad mileage--suspension a little go-cart like with road noise, but not a bother. Big "bait and switch" deal--Noe agency a bunch of crooks. They had hundreds of units; the prices were falling. We shook hands on deal and took PT Cruiser/5 sp/4 cyl home for 3 days--fun & responsive--teen kids fell in love--(when we returned to settle up, the Noe sales people gave us the "we made a mistake" routine--tried to up the price by 3.5 grand--walked out and bought a wondeful new Honda Civic. Similar Products Used: We have owned a '95 Voyage since new. It's been okay. probably sticking with Jap cars from now on. |

Strength:
large amount of room inside for what is rated as a small car. handles well on the road at high and low speed. roomy inside and very comfortable to drive and ride in.
Weakness:
hard to see out the rear and gas milage has been fair [24 mpg on road] but could be better for small car with stick shift and cruise control. after I bought the car I added pin striping by kafka, smoothie wheels with baby moons and 10 inch wide tires on the rear. the car attracts so much attention that when i walk to the car at stores or restaurants there are notes or people standing around the car. i have even had a few people try to buy it from me so the car review has to be very good! people complain about the power but how many cars have engines that get 1 h/p per cubic inch. Styling, versatility, fun to drive
Weakness:
Poor gas mileage. Both front window mechanisms had to be replaced. It's had two factory recalls so far. Front spoiler is too low and rubs on every curb. My wife loves this car, but it gets lousy gas mileage and until the 3rd visit to the dealer, the service department wouldn't even acknowledge there was a problem. The best we've gotten is 17 on the freeway. Around town mileage is typically 11 to 13. The cuteness of the car has faded quickly! |

Not a mini-van or an SUV. Love everything about it. My wife wants one now. I've wanted one since I saw one in Auto Week back when it was just a concept car.
Weakness:
Did have to add baby moon mirror to side mirror..but I've had them on all my other cars. Rear headrests do cause a blind spot. Just traded my 2000 Cirus for this car on 8/23/02. Dealer had 3 Inferno Red LE's and one Black with 5 speed...I like auto trans best so I now have a Inferno Red PTC. NOw have 1080 miles on it and love it. Added a FuelMaster to in fuel intake line...improved power and got rid of the low RPM sluggishness...that was at 100 miles...just added a Tornadofuelsaver to the air intake the other day at 1000 miles...no more power problems...runs better than my 2000 Cirus with it's V6. With just the FuelMaster on I got 26.8 mpg highway and 18.5 city. Haven't had the Tornado on in dry weather (its been rainning since I put in on) to get a good mpg reading yet. I like the versitility of the interior. Like the gas mileage 24 town, 30 road. Standard transmission is fun to drive.
Weakness:
I just changed spark plugs and had to remove parts of engine to get to the plugs. Also, plastic air intake ports are noisy when car is running. My car seems to be running really "lean" with no tailpipe discharge and at times you get a "bump" which seems like AC cutting in and out. With a standard transmission this seems to be magnified. A car that is fun to own and drive. Bought mine used, but is exactly what I would have chosen if buying new. No trouble, just turned over 30K miles with no problems. Changed spark plugs and increased the power. Similar Products Used: None |

Trac Control w/ 4 wheel ABS does a good job in the winter months and snow. Yanking out the back seats (heavy business) lets you haul big items.
Weakness:
Can't run through a standard carwash. Sits too low and would rub under carrage. I think the paint is a little to easy to scratch by the brushes anyway. Darker colors exteriors, VERY hard to keep clean. Back hatch area the worst for dirt. Would be nice to have an engine that did not have to kick into a higher RPM to climb a hill in cruise control. I now own two 2001 Limited Editions . #1 was new and crossing the 20,000 mile mark. Zero defects to date. #2 used and at 22,000 mile mark. Yet to have any problems. |

Weakness:
I just replaced two rotors at 30,000 miles. Midas says they have seen an awful lot of PT's with brake problems. In other forums this seems to be a common problem Really love the car and the looks I get from other drivers |

POOR GAS MILAGE - I have yet to get those 19 miles per gallon city driving!!!! The PT Cruiser has style, spunk, room, versitility, and great options for the money. This Big "Little Wagon" is AWESOME! This is a fun vehicle to drive! Yet, practical for a family of four. Similar Products Used: There has been a varity. |

Limited PT Cruiser
Strength:
Looks good and lots of options - if you buy the limited. Nice sound system and lots of room for folks sitting in back. Nice interior. My brother just purchased a new luxury SUV from Toyota - the PT had the same options as the Toyota for 1/2 the price and the PT looks better. I like that the front floor mats have a little hook attachment (to the floor) to keep them from sliding around. Like the heating system - not too hot or cold - unlike my old Toyota.
Weakness:
I think the wheels look kinda cheap, so I may replace those. Lousy gas mileage but I hope that will improve. Parking brake location is odd for me and can be cumbersome when the armrest is down. To get an extra key made you have to go to the dealer and have it made for $35 and then pay another $40 or so to have it programmed. I wish the vehicle had a remote fuel lid-cover "thing" and hatchback device. Was initially concerned about buying an amercian car since I''ve always driven Toyota''s or Honda''s and quality/reliability was an issue for me. Went to the Autoshow and saw just how nice the vehicle was. Liked the look and the price was right for me. Did lots of research and asked alot of questions and had no doubts. Skipped the heated seats and roof rack. I opted for the 5-speed manual and it''s got lots of power. I think the woody option is price appropriate if you really wanted to upgrade. Didn''t like the flame option - I think a custom paint job by a real artist would look nicer and more original. Lots of pretty colors to choose from. Easy to get - didn''t have to wait weeks and weeks. Took advantage of the recent 7 yr/100k powertran warranty Similar Products Used: Previously owned a Toyota Corolla SR5 Sport Coupe before purchasing the PT. |
