Strength:

Looks, price, handling.

Weakness:

smaller driver compartment, way more room in back than in front, not very good gas mileage hoping it gets better as it gets more miles. The automatic trans and 4cyl are a bit sluggish when you have 4 or more people and a load in it, heard the manual trans is better.

Seen them around town and knew it must be my first new car purchase. Got mine fully loaded with ALL options except roof rack, flame decals, and leather heated seats. I would recommend the 4 wheel disk antilocks, heard from a few other PT owners with drum rears you get a significant hum from them.

Strength:

Ride quality, room, PRICE, insurance rates, mileage(when compared to vanssuv''s). We have put a lot of miles on it over the past year and a half, and it''s great for long trips, around town and everyday life. Plus it''s a heck of a lot of fun to drive.

Weakness:

Could be a few inches wider, difficult to keep clean.

A few years ago my wife and I were in the market for a new car. We currently had a 93 BMW 5 series and just wanted somehting different. Don''t get me wrong, BMW''s are great cars, but we wanted something new. We drove just aobut every car under 40K and couldn''t decide what we wanted, then the Cruiser came along. I must say I love this car. Has Ok power. I''ve owned a lot of sports cars and no, it doesn''t compare, If you want more power, get the stick and install a supercharger. Mileage is Ok, could be a bit better, but it''s a heavy car. We have around 34000 miles on it now and not a single problem. Paint does chip a little easy, and the rear drum brakes squeal a bit when thye are cold, but I love this car. Just what we have been able to fit inside of it is amazing. Take the seats out and it easily swallowed a dryer, large trees, tons of wood. Just wish it was 3" wider so i could get sheetrock and plywood in her. But that is what my roof rack is for. Must get the stick, auto is really slow, also, this is a very difficult car to keep clean. Especially the darker colored ones. Ours is patriot blue, and has to be washed all the time.

AND THE BASE CAR WAS 16,200 ADD THAT UP AND THAT WHAT I PAID. BUT ENOUGHT ABOUT THAT I HAVE MY DISLIKES AND LIKES. MY LIKES OR THE ROOM THIS IS THE FIRST CAR WERE MY BACK SEAT COME OUT THATS GOOD FOR ME BECUSE I HAVE TWO ROCKWALLERS . AND I LIKE THE WAY IT SITS UP HIGH IN THE AIR AND LOVE THE WAY THE CAR LOOKS. I DO NOT LIKE THE STERING VERY MUCH IT IS KINDA OF TIGHT (I GUESS I WAS KINDA SPOILLED WITH MY 95 TOYOTA AVOLN LOVE THAT CAR AND STILL DO)ALSO IT SEEM TO HAVE VERY POOR TORUK BETTWEEN 10-30 MILES AND HOUR, AND WEND YOU OUR GOING UP A STEEP GRADE IT TAKES A FEW FOR THE POWER TO KICK IN. (TRUST ME I KNOW ABOUT GRADES I WAS A OVER THE ROAD TRUCK DRIVER FOR 13 YEARS) AND THE LAST TWO THANGS THE REAR VISSABELLITEY IS HORRIBLE AND LAST DO NOT PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE ON A HILL IF YOU DO MAKE SURE YOUR FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE OR IT WILL GO STARIT ON YOU (LIKE IF YOU OR POITED DOWN ON THE HILL)OVER ALL IT IS A PRETTY GOOD CAR. Strength:

Gas mileage is acceptable. The drive is nice. I''ve had it on trips over 500 miles.

Weakness:

Now let me tell ya all a little something. The turning radius is better in my dodge ram p/u. If you live in an area that has snow and they use salt and sand on the roads you had better check your rocker panels where the front fender and the door come together. You won''t have paint their very long. Mine was going at 5000 miles when I noticed what it was doing. I took it to the dealer and they asked the district manager if this was a covered item. NO, was the reply. Went back at 10,000 miles (after the primer started to go) and asked them to bring him (D.M.)out and have him physically look at the problem. Again the same response. NO. Finally at 17,042 with bare metal showing my dealer stood behind me and had it repainted. Henceforth I would advise to add extention flaps to the ones that come with the car. At least one and one-half inches further out and down from theres. To me this is a design flaw, because the tire sticks out further than the flaps. I was dissappointed that Chrysler would not rectify this matter. Thank God for a very good dealership. Little moon mirrors work wonders on visibility. No arm rest for passenger. Sorry you gotta share. Also for you that already ow

Love the style of the body and interior. I know that the interior window switches vary from the X build to the Y build. It was an improvement to add the rear windows to the front cluster with a lock-out on the rears. Keeps the kids from playing with them.

Strength:

Seating is wonderful for a small car. I''ve got a bad back, and getting out of this car is easier than exiting a 2001 Concorde. Comfortable for four, and versatile. Plenty of storage room, for my needs. Well built. Although this is a heavy car, for myself, I like the ''big car feel''.

Weakness:

Visibility to the rear is quite limited. Also, the car could use more power. Gas mileage disappointing-I can not reach 19 mpg around town.

Overall, I''m very satisfied with the car. I particularly like the styling and versatility. Mine is a base model-so I added chrome to the grille and bumper, silver pin-stripe at the belt-line,chrome accent to the hatch, and chrome 10 spoke artillary wheel-covers. Also changed the car''s name to ''Airflow''. I plan to convert the automatic shifter to a manual style, and ''cap'' the tail lights body colour.

Strength:

Excellent gas mileage (31 mpg, as verified at a AAA "Car Fair") Excellent manual transmission (first one I''ve ever had that was being shifted by "wires" rather than a direct connection to the transmission.) Lots of room, with functional (i.e., removable) seating. Super comfortable seating (I have the leather seats) and all-around visability.

Weakness:

I should have bought two, so I could ditch my minivan, and get better gas mileage.

Exactly what I wanted! I ordered it as a Limited Edition with the 5-speed manual. It is the easiest to shift manual I''ve ever driven (that includes a ''46 Chevy Stylemaster, ''76 Pacer (please don''t laugh!), an ''84 Jeep Cherokee, and now the PT). It has plenty of room for my three kids and wife, plus a full grocery buy at the local store. It handles the road well, and allows me a clear view (except when surrounded by the "brontosaurus-trucks" that seem to be so popular now.

Strength:

Versatility/function, safety features such as dual front and side air bags, ABS,traction control, heated mirrors. Excellent brakes and handling.

Weakness:

NONE except it pulls to the left and the 5 speed manual is a bit notchy when driven aggressively. Not a big deal though this is not a high performance car of course.

Very nice car all things considered especially for the price. Great looking, handling, braking, versatile,COOL! Love it even though I would like to have more and smoother power such as in V6 form. Have one problem that I wish someone would write to me about if they also share it with me or have an answer for. The car pulls to the left under normal acceleration and cruising. Dealer has it as I write this and this for the third time. To no avail they have aligned the car and also rotated the tires. Not good. Feel there is a power train problem, one wheel pulling more than the other etc. This is not torque steer nor is it a road crown condition. Other than this the car is immaculate. Have owned a few veichles in my time, Passat GLS V6, Mustang GT, BMW 528E, Toyota Celica GTS etc etc. Never felt so good about a car as this PT. Doesn''t have the raw power of the Mustang but than again I didn''t buy it for that purpose. Great design and practicality at an affordable price. The car has a great build quality feel, doors, hatch as well as the hood sound and feel solid. Interior is spacious and very confortable although the front seat cushions could be a bit longer and not as leaning forward as they are, feel like one is falling forward. Gas mileage is fine, burns regular, not bad mileage overall. Winter is here heated seats feel gooood! Sound system is also very descent for a stock unit. Subwoofer is a bit expensive or I would have gotten it, hear it''s great. Nice chrome 16" wheels, had the front side windows tinted with the inferno red metallic paint the car looks awesome! like it very much.

Weakness:

Like everyone else. Visibility is slightly limited because the styling is emulating an old car but acceptable. Gasoline mileage is not up to what we would like but who buys this kind of a car for mileage?

While my wife has just bought this car, she loves it already. It is a delight to drive and very peppy. Love the way it looks.

Strength:

Driving fun. Interior flexibility and space. Great styling. Very solid construction.

Weakness:

I keep close track on problems people are having with their PT''s and here is the list of common complaints/problems: 1) Bad fuel mileage for such a small car [True, but still much better than a minivan in city driving. About the same as a minivan on the highway]. 2) Main engine gasket leaks [I had this problem, but they fixed it no problem under warranty]. 3) Poor rear visiblity [not bad once you get used to it]. 4) Poor paint quality [true it chips easily, but so far mine is fine otherwise -- we''ll see in a few years how it lasts]. 5) Windshield washer nozzle dribbles on hood [I didn''t have this problem, but it is minor and fixed under warranty in the U.S.].

An incredibly fun and versatile car. Great carrying capacity for such a small frame. This car is effectively a "microvan" with very appealing styling. I own the 5-speed, and it shifts very well and is very peppy. More power than I really need. Below I go into detail about all the weaknesses I know, but in fact these are all minor points when compared to the problems I have had with my other vehicles after the first year.ú
