Strength:

Love the styling and the small sizeÄ

Weakness:

Transmission just replaced at 50K. Rear end started shaking right from the beginning especially at 40 MPH and especially when towing. Went in a few times for adjustments. Finally it started slipping and shaking under normal driving conditions so I invoked the warranty, (the dealership, thank goodness, finally agreed there was a big problem) and got new one. Now new tranny sounds like it is doing the same thing!! Also, intermittent electric window sticking problems just like everyone else. Am baffled as to how the drivetrain could be so completely under-engineered, especially as Dodge makes so many claims regarding towing capacity. Plan to use this new tranny until it also gives up (while warranty is still good) get a new one installed and sell the car.h

Needed a V8 in a comfortable, small size SUV to do towing. Purchased, (fortunately) the 100000 7 Year Powertrain Warranty. Also got all the bells and whistles including 5.9 and premium Infinity stereo, etc. Window and Powertrain problems like, (apparently) many, many others.o

Strength:

Size and styling.

Weakness:

Long uphill grades. Can''t seem to find a comfortable gear.

I feel lucky after reading all the other reviews. No oil leaks, windows go up and down, didn''t need brakes until 62,000 mi and only in the shop to fix tail gate latch. Did some serious 4 wheeling in the desert and survived driving through a flash flood. But.......now having transmission problems (66,000 mi). Won''t shift from 2nd to 3rd while accelerating until rpm up to 4500. Haven''t had it to the shop yet but fear the worst. Went through 3 trannys in a Plymouth Voyager so I should have known better.

POWERFUL,ROOMY,3RD ROW SEAT

Weakness:

ITS A DODGE,VERY LITTLE UPGRADING,BRAKES SUCK,SOME SORT OF ENGINE TICKING. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER AMERICAN MADE VEHICLE.

I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE FOR THE 3RD SEAT. I HAVE ALWAYS DROVE NOTHING BUT HONDA''S. THIS IS A POWERFUL VEHICLE AS WE ALL AGREE BUT THIS TRUCK IS NOT RELIABLE AT ALL. I WAS ON A ROAD TRIP NOT EVEN DRIVING IT HARD. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP WHEN MY TRIP WAS OVER AS THE CHARGED ME $52.00 AN HOUR TO TELL ME SOMEHOW THE ENGINE BURNED THROUGH THE SPARK PLUG AND ALSO THE DISTRIBUTER CAP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. JUST JUST HAD THE CAP AND PLUGS CHANGED 2 MONTHS EARLIER.$208 LATER IM ON MY WAY TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP TO GET THE ODESSEY

Strength:

Size - not too big, not too small. Third row seating - great for kids and short trips with adults. Nice looking truck - got 55,000 miles from the original tires.

Weakness:

Stereo system (not upgraded) is absolutely the worst I''ve ever heard in a modern vehicle. Reliability is an issue. Chrysler customer service is amazingly incompetent.

We leased this 4WD SLT in November ''97 and our lease is up in November of ''02. We had all of the power window problems beginning 2 months after purchase and continuing for two years (every window failed at least once, most 3-4 times). Finally Dodge either recalled it or did a change order. Either way the problem is gone. The irritating thing was when I continued to take the same problem to the same dealer they always said "I''ve never seen this before". Obviously it was a common problem but Chrysler Customer Service 101 must counsel deniability. We''ve had several problems since, including dead battery at 15,000 miles, new brakes every 15-20K, failed AC compressor, oil leaks and most recently a water pump failure. Overall, however, after the first two years the truck has been reliable. We''re at about 60K miles and are considering negotiating the lease residual price. No way we''re paying $19K in November - Blue Book will probably be $14K or less... And the Durango will be worth it! The size is great, the power and ride is great, but Chrysler''s customer service and the little niggling build-quality problems are frustrating. We won''t buy another Chrysler product. It''s just too risky.

Lexus LX470 - Great vehicle, great customer service. Just too much $$. Test drove MDX and may purchase if we can''t get the Durango off lease for CHEAP.

Weakness:

The dashboard''s design was not well thought out in a wreck your knee is likely to be crushed causing long lasting damage, as well as so pretty pricey medical bills.

Great car with alot of power behind it.

Strength:

Rugged looks, 5.9 LTR V8 power, solid feeling quiet ride, roomy interior, heavy hauler with no complaints.

Weakness:

Soft brakes, gas mileage, bumpy ride at low speeds. Doesn''t like short trips.

Evidently Chrysler got it right for this model year based on alot of the reviews I''ve read here. One of the best, most solid vehicles I''ve ever owned. Awesome power, quiet ride. Growls when you step on it and goes like a rocket! Absolutely no shakes or rattles. Well engineered and very functional for the average family. A real joy to drive this truck!

Strength:

Roomy, great acceleration, sporty body style, greating towing ability.

Weakness:

rubber molding around doors was glued on and is coming off. The part that is loose hangs down below the door. Back end rattles.

My husband and I have been driving this SUV since it was new and overall we really like it. It has a lot of power that comes in handy pulling our 18ft. boat out of boat landings.

Strength:

Roomy...

Weakness:

Shortly after purchasing the vehicle it started jerking when you accelerated. Took it in, they could not locate the problem. Now at 60,000 miles the transmission is gone and we don''t use it for hauling. I''m afraid we made a financial mistake. We have also had air conditioning problems, and trouble changing from 1st to 2nd. Also the gear sleeps into 2nd gear periodically. Too many problems for the cost.

We were not aware of the problems before we purchased our Durango. But we will do our research next time.
