Dodge Durango
Strength:
I do a lot of driving in the snow, and it worked great. It had some pickup and was wonderful for most of the time I've owned it. If you don't value your life it's a fine car.
Weakness:
Gas mileage is pathetic. My father drives a Suburban which gets better mileage by far. Also it is extreemly unsafe. I paid $26,500 for it new. The dealer gave me an increadible deal on it. But I wouldn't reccomend it to my worst enemy. I had an accident with a head on collision that happened at about 30 - 35 miles per hour and the airbags didn't deploy. What was even worse was that upon reviewing the skid marks and noticing that they stopped 10 feet before the impact we realized that the brake pedal had actually fallen off before the impact! I won't bore you with too many details, but Dodge didn't want to be bothered either! They've done nothing. Think again before you get in one, they aren't safe at all. NONE! my wife insisted on this piece of crap.
Weakness:
WHERE CAN I START???? well first i think it is the ugliest "suv" on the road. my wife liked it alot at first, but after about 2 monthes the problems started. first the windows started to not work. dealer said it is not under warrenty. the AC is not blowing cold air. dealer says it is normal at first. this carrpy "suv" has spent about 1/3 of the time we owned it on the shop. after about 5 monthes we said forget it and we sold it back to dodge. we instead got a new Land Rover Discovery Series II. this is a true suv. it is seriously the best and coolest looking car on the road. i WOULD NOT recomend this crap, but instead i would recomend A Rover. i feel safe with my wife driving this car. i think i may even get one for my self! Quality, Noises and rattles, Gas mileage and Tire and Brake eater! Good looking Body. Fair Quality expected better. Ride is good. Engine(5.2) strong. Storage Good like out of sight storage compartments.(no 3rd row seats). Followed friend's recommendation and put larger than required Transmission cooler and have had no problems. Strength:
I like the overall feel of the vehicle on the road. It is nice blend between a truck and a car. 4wd is a real plus in the winter on our steep driveway.
Weakness:
Turning radius is very poor. The larger Expedition can turn 180-degrees much easier than the Durango. Problems, problems, problems! I have been very dissatisfied with the overall quality of this product. For the high end price paid, I expected high quality, performance and durability. After 37,000 miles all 4 ball joints went. 30,000 miles later they went again! Nearly all of these miles are highway. I wouldn't expect an SUV 4WD vehicle to have ball joints going every 30,000 miles. At 38,000 miles we had excessive oil loss due to a problem with the intake manifold. The security system and keys have been a problem and we've given up trying to fix it. We just unlock the door on the passenger side to keep the alarm from sounding. Similar Products Used: I owned a Maxima, lexus, and Rabbit. Not one of these cars required anything except routine repairs (brakes, oil, timing belt at 60K etc.) |

power, looks, stability, comfort
Weakness:
front seats, needs better brakes for every model i just bought it and im realizing that for a large suv, the front seats are not very safe - especially if you're over 6'4" - a hit from the rear will definately give you wip lash. good power, looks. |

Strength:
Awesome styling, excellent driving position, very good handling for a vehicle of this size, huge cargo room, feels very solid and I was surprised by the overall quality of the exterior and in particular of the interior, fits into Swiss garages, powerful 5.9L engine, excellent 'snow capabilities' (tested in the Swiss alps)
Weakness:
Appalling fuel economy (about as bad as it gets!), wind noise at 70 MPH +, about 30'000$. This SUV is surprisingly solid and of very good quality. Although it is a heavy truck it does not feel that way. It is very agile and fun to drive since the engine delivers a lot of torque, power and a great sound . Despite a relatively low ground clearance this vehicle will take you almost anywhere, in particular in the winter. The styling is absolutely superb from any angle, the cargo room is huge. The two main weaknesses are the appaling fuel economy and the somewhat mediocre braking system. Apart from that, I absolutely love this truck! Similar Products Used: Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L V8. Felt somewhat sportier, better mileage, but: |

Strength:
Good looks, pleanty of room, excellent in snow (full time), versatile seating, strong enging (5.2), good ground clearance, 9 cup holders
Weakness:
Poor mileage, lots of wind noise above 70mph. Paid 27,000 because they just came out. Many people had problems with things I did not get. Like second A/C, CD player. My little wife even likes driving it. And she is a small car person. Easily carries 6 people in comfort. Have enjoyed thougholy. Dodge should put a diesle or reduce the weight for this truck.
