Strength:

the looks and performance were the selling points but since i purchased am totally impressed with the quality fit ride and handling. it can really rock & roll when you stomp on it.

Weakness:

of course the gas mileage is not great but who cares it out guns and out looks just about all but some of the latest arrival on the suv scene. biggest problem has been getting the right parts for after market add ons for the sport model. had trouble with a wood dash kit for 'durango' didnt fit the 4x4 console. the latest is a safari light bar. brackets do not fit the sport bumper mounts and cant get any help.

great bang for the buck. cant go wrong for size, handling & performance. definitely recommend it.

Strength:

Roomy compared to other same size SUV's

Weakness:

Have had nothing but problems. The transmission needed to be rebuilt soon after purchase. Brake springs were operating with alot of noise, defective parts from vendor but Dodge has no solution. Rear leaf springs were replaced due to suspension issues. Now the suspension needs new bushings due to another vendor to Dodge delivering bad parts. The driver's seat is coming apart at the seam. Poor workmanship. Dodge dances around there issues and blames there vendor's for the problems. They forget all honor to there customer's once the sale's pitch is over and you sign.

I would not recommend this product to anyone that want's any kind of quality for around $27000.00

looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks, now that you gt the pint i like the looks,ok, 1 more, LOOKS, turning radius, looks, power and more power, head turner.

Weakness:

windows wont work, tranny is weird, speakers tend to throw sound more at you ankles then you head which really decreases treble, if you want good sound from the stereo, you have to act like your some bird buring your head n the sand to get your ear to the speaker. THIRSTY, my 79 corvette with many mods gets more mileage:(.....definitly not looks:)

i would definitly recommend it.

Strength:

Mobility, looks, performance

Weakness:

The front end seems to feel loose (for a vehicle with only 23K miles). The rear latch failure caused 4 trips to the dealer for repair (leaving me with no vehicle). Now the two rear windows (electric) do not role down and front ones are starting to malfunction at times. Fuel efficiency is not comparable to size of the vehicle.

Not nearly enough vehicle for the money!
I would NOT recommend this to anyone, and I have already talked some people out of considering it. The initial comfort and ride of the vehicle exceeded my expectations, but the stability seems to have deteriorated in less than 2 years - front end (it was checked by the dealer), brakes, etc.

Strength:

Great Looks. Still a good attention getter after a year. Strong engine. Its a real truck!

Weakness:

After towing a boat and horse trailer noticed minor engine ping now becoming excessant. Windows not working properly. Had to take it to dealership twice to get them fixed. Minor paint chips on front bumper

This is a very good truck for a family needing the room and wanting a nice looking vehicle. I would recommend it to anyone in the market for an SUV

Strength:

Beautiful, aggressive styling, lots of room for the family, many nice accessories to add on to vehicle to dress it up even more, lots of luxury at an affordable price, plenty of power to tow a 25ft (5500 lb) trailer, extra nice leather interior with all of the available extras.

Weakness:

Like other Durango owners, gas mileage is extremely poor and we try to drive it in an economical way. I'd hate to think what our mileage would be if we had to get on the throttle a little more! We have only a few thousand miles on the rig and I'm hearing quite a bit of clicking & clacking noises coming from the front and rear brake areas. It's kind of embarrassing to drive a brand new rig around in the city knowing that your car's looks aren't the only thing turning heads. Guess I need to have the dealer figure out where to put the duct tape. The plastic interior is prone to scratching with little effort and the stereo system could use a kick in the pants.

We got a great deal on our trade-in and a totally loaded 5.9L SLT+ package for $29K after a $2K factory rebate was used towards the purchase. Even though we are die-hard Toyota fans (NEVER thought I'd EVER own a Dodge), we needed the towing capabilities of the Durango (we wanted to stay in the SUV market & didn't like the other vehicle choices). Even though I've read
several bad personal reviews and have a few small concerns of my own, I would still recommend the Durango. I hope I can whistle this same tune years and miles down the road.

Strength:

1. It's not a Ford product.
2. Off road performance is very good...but afterwards everything and anything bolted, screwed or glued to the Dodge came undone.

Weakness:

1. The entire thing is platic.
2. Handles horribly in normal conditions...in rain, forget it.
3. Really loud on highway trips.
4. Rated very poorly for highway safety and general accidents.
5. Black paint faids very quickly in Florida sun.
6. After about a year - when it rains it gets that Chrysler moldy smell from the airconditioner.
7. Dodge service departments suck.
8. Cheap, cheap, cheap...and I'm not talking about price.

We paid 30,000 and change. Would I recommend it? Only if you were in the market to buy a Ford, then I would. I would not buy this vehicle again and I am looking forward to trading it in (probably for a Mercedes ML 320).

Strength:

4.7 V8, Super smooth transmission, Style, ride, quiet interior noise, 3rd row seat

Weakness:

A lot of plastic inside with a cheap feel to it. Rear end looks a bit too mini-vanish.

I had a Ford Windstar for 2 years (lease) and it was very good to me and my family. Before the lease was up we had to take it in for some body work. So, my wonderful mother let me borrow her brand new 2001 Durango in Garnet red, which looks gorgeous, and I instantly fell in love. I had to have one. My wife fell in love with it too, thank god. The price of them was at the very top of my scale to say the least. We went to every dealer in the Indy area and decided on a 2000 model SLT, since they have some good deals on them. The ride is great, a bit bouncier than my Windstar but much more solid feeling. The transmission is ultra-smooth. They make them just north of me in Kokomo, IN at a brand new billion dollar facility (only the 4.7 though), and I couldn't be happier. The engine is great. The only thing I don't care for is the abundance of plasic. Feels like you could put your finger through the dash. The 2001 makes many improvements in the area of ergonomics and improves the design for the rear a/c and heat. I am very content with my 2000 though. True love.

Strength:

A great looking vehicle! 5.9 liter is silky smooth. Quiet cabin and well placed controls.

Weakness:

Fit and finish is lackluster at best! Air conditioning (rear and front) has never worked right. Transmision is quirky. Steering is very vague at highway speeds. Brakes are downright dangerous! Let's get some disks on the back of this thing, huh guys?!!! Also, the high end sound system could use some help. The paint on the front bumper started to peel off at 15000 mi. And the transfer case seems to have a mind of it's own, kicking into 4wd only after gentle coaxing from forward to reverse several times!

For a vehicle that costs upwards of $33000, the quality just isn't there! There is room for ALOT of improvement in both the drivetrain, and quality control. The A/C problems for example are pretty much showing up most of these vehicles. I would think twice about buying another one of these overpriced gas guzzlers!
