Just wanted to let everyone know....no V-6 is available for the truck, the last 3 years only V-8's were offered. (4.7, 5.2, 5.9) The truck has only been out for three years. The V-6 should be available when we come out with the TTR. (Hybrid Version)

Model Reviewed: SLT+ 5.9L all options except block heater

Strength:

5.9L V8, Dakota like styling, 3rd row seat, FT4wd, right size SUV, wood grain interior

Weakness:

no cd changer option, fuel low indicator comes on too soon, some options should be part of a package

Being 6'3" it seemed like most other SUVs in this class didn't have enough legroom and I didn't want a full-size SUV for just one person so the Durango is the best and only option. I like all those cup holders especially the one in front so u can put a supersize drink in. I like the infinity system. I think they should have the deck control a cd changer though, most everybody else does. Even though I have the SLT+ there are still a few options that I think should come with the package automatically: 4WABS, FT4WD,heated foldaway mirrors, rear a/c, skid plate group. Some other features that would be nice are: dual power seats, lift gate flipper glass, auto headlights, information center, power moon roof if possible.

Overall this is a good SUV for the money. I guess they left the more luxurious features for the Grand Cherokee Limited. How many SUVs in this class can you get fully loaded with with V8 power, leather, 3rd row seat around $34000. I'd definitely recommend it.

Strength:

roomy, decent stereo system, big, powerful. Very nice looks

Weakness:

gas mileage

It's a great truck, I mean SUV. It drives like a truck, which isn't too bad, but not as smooth a ride as the jeep. I love the looks. I'm glad they carried over the Ram's design to the Durango. Very powerful, handles well in bad conditions. The stereo system is decent
The Durango gets one of the worst gas mileages of any SUV. Sucks it up quick.
I would recommend this SUV to familys with men who don't want to drive a minivan.

Strength:

Great looks, plenty of power, most of all the seating (3rd seat)

Weakness:

Of course the gas mileage, but I didn't buy it for mileage...

I squeaked out a deal at 28,000...it's a great truck for the family man with an ego...I wasn't buying a mini van...however I have run into a problem with the oil pressure dropping and rising...I have 40,000 miles on it and use synthetic oil....if anyone has had the same problem let me know.

Model Reviewed: /Durango Sport 4.7l

Strength:

Handles Predictably in corners it has very little body roll (out corners my Volvo 240 dl). Turning radius is great (it out turns my Mercury Mystique). 4.7l has plenty of power. Roomy. Engine components are easy to get to if you are a DIY'er.

Weakness:

Rough ride, however it is a truck. Gas mileage, best observed is 17 on the highway. Speaker placement (in lower doors) is in adequate. Sound fires at your legs, not your ears.

This a great price/performance truck.

Strength:

Outstanding sytle and overall performance for a truck.

Weakness:

In the first six months had the transmissions replaced. Subsequently, have had a rattle in the dashboard and a continuing odor of anitfreeze in the engine bay. Other than that it is A-OK.

Do NOT pay more than $200 over dealer invoice. If you do, you are throwing your money away. An respondent earlier commented he paid approximately 40K for "limited edition" are you nuts! At any rate, it is a solid vehicle despite its' problems.

Strength:

5.9 V8 is smooth and powerful. Size is just right for me. Price was good. Tows good with the 5.9 V8. Quiet, roomy and seating if comfortable for me (6'1"). 3rd seat great!

Weakness:

Bumpy ride, but hey, it's a truck! Windshield noise during highway driving. Gas mileage. I thought the 5.2 V8 was a dog when I test drove them. Couldn't imagine this vehicle with the 3.9 V6.

The price was great. I tow a boat through mountains, so I needed good towing. Tahoes and Yukons were painfully expensive and huge. Explorers can't tow well. 3rd seat great and drops down without hindering cargo space (Dodge did a great job designing). Expedition 3rd seat was a joke. Too high, and had to be pulled out for cargo room (and it wasn't easy as the showroom!). Rear air was priced right.

Model Reviewed: Durango SLT

Strength:

Excellent Product. Great styling, durable, roomy but not overly large. Excellent power and comfort for the money. Can fit 8 with front bench seat. Handles well and gets 17 mpg on the highway with the 5.9 Liter.

Weakness:

Nothing to complain about. If you want an SUV don't cry about gas mileage or driving like a truck. SUVs are trucks with the beds covered.

Highly recomended for the price. The third seat makes all the difference. Much better looking then anything else right now.

Strength:

Nice ride for a SUV. I have previously had a Ford Explorer and I thought the ride was a bit harsh.
Good 4X4 on the fly shifting and usage. I was in Tahoe in the mountains and the 4x4 was great. A lot of other cars and trucks were stuck in the snow, but the Durango was great.
Good amount of space/storage in the back, didn't need a rack for 2 snowboards and 5 sets of skis along with the boot and poles!!

Weakness:

Gas guzzler, but what can you expect from a V8 adn four wheel drive?

I think that the Durango is definitely worth the price when compared with the Ford and Chevy models. The ultimate call goes to the reliability of the vehicle. Still in question, but so far I have had no problems and I like the ride, power and styling of the whole package compared to the comps.

Definite Recommend
