Bronco and ''92 EB
Strength:
Power, Big comfy captains chairs, roll-down rear window, cargo, short wheelbase (manuverability), Cruises 70mph at 2000rpm. Acceleration (good for a truck) Beat my buddies new Durango Pack about a million inebriated honeys up in it!
Weakness:
Gas milage (deal with it), Door panels jiggle a bit Aftre riding around in my ''92 Eddie Bueur, I fell in love with the early Broncos. That led me aon a quest to find a tricked out, restored, lifted Bronco. A year latr I found what I was looking for and towed it home on the back of a u-haul with my ''92 EB. I have to say, with almsot 6000 lbs behind me, and some of those back-azz country hilly roads I was on, my ''92 was hurting. But, faithfully, w/o a burp, it made the 400 mile trip safe and in good time. Similar Products Used: The ''92 is for sale if anyone is interested. Contact me via email, and I''ll send out a ton of pics. Got to concentrate on the ''73, and I want a Vette |

It can turn on a dime. Alot of fun to drive and looks good also. Similar Products Used: a blazer and was not satisfied. |

cost of ownership, what you can do - go everywhere (beach, mountains, mud!)

they don''t make ''em anymore! The Bronco is simply one of the best, value for money of road vehicle out there. I have owned two before the SUV ''revolution'' and there is no finer 4wd out there for the money. Similar Products Used: chevy 4x4 can''t hold a candle (and I am an old GM bigot!) |

size on the trails When I bought my 79 Bronco, it was my second four wheel drive. It was great! If you are looking for a rock solid 4WD, this is what you need. I was the second owner, and it had 96,xxx mi. I sold it with 175,xxx mi. The entire time I had the truck I drove it daily, and went four wheeling with my cousins Jeep club every weekend. The Bronco would take anything I could put it through, and I could still drive it home. I''m currently looking for another 78 or 79 Bronco. I reall like the off road ability. Space a lot of it!! Sport truck looks
Weakness:
The stock auto locking hubs. From the factory they used plastic gears. I replaced them with WARN manual locking hubs (premium brand) After the install the 4 wheeling abbility was great improved. It has 50/50 distruibution. Climbing rocks is know problem I bought my Bronco so I could tow my race car. I really like the old school look to it. It gets a lot of looks. In the past year I have had about 5 people come to me and ask to if they coud buy it. Similar Products Used: None |

Very comfortable. My second choice over a Hummer! The list is too long to type in here..so if you own one then you'll know! You can do a U-turn on a 2 lane road.
Weakness:
Poor gas milage, poor rust protection (solution for rust though) Other than that.......I can't complain My first 1979 Bronco was seen by me when I was in the 5th grade at my dad's work. It belonged to his boss, and needless to say it is now mine. I am 24 years old now, and I am honestly addicted to these fine trucks. I bought another 1979 model XLT for my restoration project. Then I bought a 1985 Custom fullsize which is being used for my daily driving purposes, and then a 1984 fullsize XLT to fix up and just play on the hills with, and a 1981 to use for body parts and pretty much just a Bronco for parts. Yes I own 5 fullsize Broncos now, and I have to say that they have cared for me and kept me safe for as long as I've owned them. When Ford stated "The Best Never Rest" and "Built Ford Tough" that's damn sure what they meant! Similar Products Used: Jeep (flips too easy) Blazer (Chevy enough said) These Bronco really don't compare to anything else. Just look up the history on the 1978-79 models. Those models set the standard for the rest of the competition! |

Bronco
Strength:
Very powerful. Great driving visability. Good for hauling stuff and people. Resonable stability - didn't feel like it was going to tip over in tight turns. Go anywhere in the snow. Good ground clearence.
Weakness:
Terrible gas mileage. Everything is expensive to repair. e.g. $500 for a gas pump. Not too good at stopping in snow/ice (5300lb vehicle on 4 - 10" wide tires (skis). Bought it used. Had 32K on it when I bought it. Got rid of it with 190K on it. Had constant problem with it eating the front hubs. It would try to engage the front wheels by itself. At 140K the transmission was rebuilt and a snap ring in the transfer case was missing. Probably the cause of the front hub problem but Ford would never admit to it. Problem disappeared after the missing snap ring was replaced. I had to eat $600 dollars for the front hubs. They were broken again before the snapring was replaced but I didn't want to spend the now $700 to replace them. Had the 5.8 liter engine, HD transmission. Very powerful. Terrible gas mileage. 15 to 17 at best. At 185K the oil pump went. $1800 to replace - truck went bye-bye. Similar Products Used: 78 1/2ton Ford pickup. More expensive to drive |
