Ford Bronco (1996 and older) SUV | Crossover

Ford Bronco (1996 and older) SUV | Crossover

DESCRIPTION

The Ford Bronco is a sport utility vehicle that was produced from 1966 to 1996, with five distinct generations. The original Bronco was an ORV (Off-Road Vehicle), intended to compete primarily with Jeep CJ models and the International Harvester Scout. The redesign of the second generation Bronco in 1978 was based on a shortened full sized F-100 pickup. It had a removable top and forward folding rear bench seat, similar to the competing Blazer.

(1980 - 1986) The Ford Bronco received a major redesign for 1980, coinciding with the F-Series pick-up truck. The new Bronco was shorter, and had cosmetic changes along with powertrain, suspension and other odds and ends.

(1992 - 1996) The Ford Bronco, along with the F-Series truck, was updated for 1992. The new Bronco was redesigned with safety in mind, incorporating front crumple zones, rear shoulder seat belts, a third brakelight embedded in the removable top, and after 1994, driver-side airbags.

Strength:

It is very stong and runs great. The stock engine has 200,000+ miles on it and it still runs great. I am currently running 33" Super Swamper SSR's on it with a 4" Pro Comp Stage 2 lift. I am looking to add flowmaster cat back exhaust and drop a new engine in it. I also would like to add a bigger lift and bigger tires with lockers and new gears. When ever I go bogging it never gets stuck and it pulls other people out really easy. This truck is a must for anyone that loves power.

Weakness:

GAS MILEAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The four wheel drive broke the other day but I think that was fault. The wires in the door for the speakers get pinched in the door and makes the stereo system cut out. Other then that it is awesome

I recommend this for anyone that wants a lot of power. I also recommend this for people who want a car that will let them drive it forever. But if you want a car with good gas mileage don't get this truck. But if you want something that looks good and can stand up to any situation then get this truck.

I have drove my sisters camaro and this one handles a lot better and that is with a 4 inch lift and 33" tires. I have also drove my mom's Ford Explorer and my bronco has more power then hers. Nothing compares to this truck

this truck has awsome power for a small block 302. everything still works
(windows, heater, radio) all the intierior still looks new, and the 4x4 is beter then most chevys

Weakness:

clanky trany. hard to start in cold weather but when started runs great. bad gas mileage

this is a great truck i love it but i dont recomend it for anybody who does not know what they are doing when i comes to mechanics or if you dont have any money to spend on gas.

Strength:

Looks and power of the 5.0 (V8). It is a true truck able to go anywhere. I have added a K&N filter, and a Borla stainless steel exhaust which have really made a great power improvement. Love all the room for camping gear and its towing capabilities. Even handles great for a 4 wheel drive.

Weakness:

Poor gas mileage. I try to keep it running in top condition and use synthetic oil which helps my gas mileage. Also it runs better on 93 otane (no pinging)which increases gas cost.

It is a great vehicle and I would highly recommend it. There are a lot of newer 4 wheel drives with few more extras, but, for the money and looks and overall power, nothing rates.

1990 Jeep Cherokee. Does not compare. The Cherokee was worthless in even 2 inches of snow without being ingaged in 4 wheel drive. The Bronco I don't even engage in 4 wheel drive unless it is 6 inches or more.

Strength:

I love the size and power. It is almost always the largest vehicle in the parking lot and is great offroad.

Weakness:

It has been one small problem after another, but then again, it is almost 11 years old. None of the problems have been so bad that I couldn't fix them myself.

I would recomend this to any young driver because it is a tank. You could hit anything and be fine. It is also fun and there are millions of ways to make them customized to your liking.

Strength:

My truck is the Raven Black(out), 5.8 liter, XLT Sport. This TRUCK inspires confidence off-road right out of the box. I have tried time and time again to get this vehicle stuck and have been very unsuccessful. It floats and plows through the deepest sand and mud, and that's while it's in two wheel drive! Switch on the four wheel drive, and the things unstoppable. Since I've owned mine, I've added a K&N air filter, cherry bomb Duel After Cat exhaust, Lund hood deflector, and last but the best mod, 31X10.50 BFG all-terrain KO's. I plan on adding a 4 inch lift by superlift, 4.10 gears, and a rear and hopefully front locker or limited slip. I'll remain with the BFG all-terrain's but they'll be 33X12.50.

Weakness:

The main weakness that has not been be fixed is the steering. It is very vague and required constant input to keep the vehicle tracking straight. I've taken it back to the dealer for reallignment but they still have not been able to correct the problem. I'm hoping that the Superunner Steering System from Superlift, which was designed for the TTB front end, will correct this problem. I'm not going to really complain about the harsh ride, I'm hopefully going to lessen it with the lift, and better shocks.

If you like to play hard and rough with your vehicle, this is the best choice for ya. Built right for roughing it, and should you need to fix or upgrade, there are a wide variety of part to fix, improve, or just plain out customize. Keep 'er clean, and it always gleams! Plus chicks dig it!

I'm in the military and have used a multitude of domestic SUV's and Pickups, but none have had the same prowess off road like the Broncos (Well except for the Hummer of course, but if you had $100,000+ for a new truck, you probably wouldn't be reading this anyway!) Chevy Blazers, and Suburbans very quickly turn into rattle traps, and they just don't mix Brute Force, and smooth style like the late Broncos. Also Broncos of the late 70's are still the meanest and toughest SUV's out there!

big powerfull 5.8 L engine. Looks and performes great with a lift kit. Have lifted it 2 times and is now 6" lift with 35" tires. I love hitting the speed bumps fast, trail master shocks kick ass. Great off road,I go wheeling with jeeps and mangage to rock crawl really well with a spotter. the spare tire rack has held up even though i 4wheel a lot and i have a 35" spare tire on it. Drive it to work every day and enjoy the view from the high ground. Power windows have been a problem but the rear window has held up well, no rust either even though it came from the east coast. replace power steering right after i got it to AGR (pump & box), is noisy but i can steer the bronco with one finger. have JBA shorty headers, jacobs electronics, powertrax locker. for some reason the motor was bad when i bought it and i had it replaced under warrenty, no problems after 60,000 miles.

Weakness:

steering, but i fixed that. Gas eater. when 4wheeling you will scratch the paint off due to the bronco size. need lower gear ratio's for arizona 4wheeling ($2000 transfer case will fix this).so much to do and so little mony to do it with.

the bronco is a great truck for off roaders and people who want to build a unique truck. lots of mods available, and the truck is now a classic, as of 1996 when they stop makeing them. The bronco is a off road rugged vehicle that stands way above all the new full size stuff available.

OHHHHHH, this car KICKS ASS. my friends all drive chevy's and dodges, and when we go offroading, were in a little friendly (high-speed death defying)race! and this truck win EVERY time! it has plenty of stock clearance, i put an 8 inch rancho rs 9000 lift with 35" BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires,:56 rear transmission gearing, hooker headers, air raid air intake, gibson dual exhaust, and this thing is a machine! get you anywhere, and gets you out of anything! with the 351 v8, no other car co. can beat this thing!! "BUILT FORD TOUGH" their not kidding!!!!!!!!

Weakness:

power windows, GAS MILEAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (all the performance accesories actually help the gas mileage a little, im getting around 15 miles to a gallon) (and im not talking high way driving, im talking TOUGH OFF ROADING!!!!)

ohh, recomended to any true offroader!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never new the advantages of having such a mean 4x4 like my bronco until i bought one. There is a huge amount of power under the hood with a rebuilt 351, and a 3" flowmaster exhaust. The sucker is stock, and I'm able to go everywhere my friends in there lifted chevy's and toyota's go. Who else can put 33" tires on a stock truck? almost no one.

Weakness:

The car is as old as me (18 years old) and the engine parts break, but with the amount of love i have for my bronco, its totally worth it. oh, and one more thing....GAS...GAS....GAS!!!! UNDER 10 MPG...but who cares? also, getting the beast smogged.

i love my bronco. It has done me well, and is extremly loud with a 3" flowmaster. The satisfaction of idling through a parking lot and setting off alarms on imports from the bass of your exhaust is just indescribable.

Strength:

BEST truck ever made. I use it off-road 80 % of the time and need the 4WD about 1 % of the time. Very even weight distribution, and with the 351, nothing comes close to the power output. I photograpgh landscapes and the Bronco is my most powerful tool. 190,000 + Miles on original engine.

Weakness:

Like all things, parts wear out. The engine uses a little oil and the steering is a little loose. I have not encountered the rust problems otherwise noted with the bronco.

I would recomend this vehicle to anywone serious about off-roading. Nothing beats it... Built Ford Tough
