Ford Bronco (1996 and older) SUV | Crossover

Ford Bronco (1996 and older) SUV | Crossover

DESCRIPTION

The Ford Bronco is a sport utility vehicle that was produced from 1966 to 1996, with five distinct generations. The original Bronco was an ORV (Off-Road Vehicle), intended to compete primarily with Jeep CJ models and the International Harvester Scout. The redesign of the second generation Bronco in 1978 was based on a shortened full sized F-100 pickup. It had a removable top and forward folding rear bench seat, similar to the competing Blazer.

(1980 - 1986) The Ford Bronco received a major redesign for 1980, coinciding with the F-Series pick-up truck. The new Bronco was shorter, and had cosmetic changes along with powertrain, suspension and other odds and ends.

(1992 - 1996) The Ford Bronco, along with the F-Series truck, was updated for 1992. The new Bronco was redesigned with safety in mind, incorporating front crumple zones, rear shoulder seat belts, a third brakelight embedded in the removable top, and after 1994, driver-side airbags.

Strength:

can take a beating, comfortable, good offroader and very reliable

Weakness:

very hard on gas while begging it(12 miles to the gallon), rust rust and more rust

bought this vehicle for a winter beater. it can go through more crap than people think. i have got stuck but always seem to get myself unstuck. i trust this vehicle to take me anywhere and im not afraid to abuse it. it has only needed one little part in the distributor in the couple of year that i have been abusing it. overall an excellent vehicle!!!

Strength:

It can really take on a rock washed out path. My dad took his Explorer up the same path and it was bottoming out and just plain didnt handle real well. But my Bronco really did great , it took on the washed out holes and never got stuck at all.

Weakness:

None so far (lets hope it stays that way)

I love it. Its only had 69 thousand miles on it when i bought it , and it runs like its practically brand new. I plan on using it alot for hunting and fishing , its just a great all around vehicle

I can't really compare it. This is my first car and before this i drove my moms 95 Pontiac Grand Am

Strength:

Towing power, some rust but still cleans up well, dependability, handling, BEAST

Weakness:

Rust, gas mileage, interior rattles

I am 17 and have had this truck since I got my license and have driven other cars such as a mustang gt and I would still choose my bronco. It is a beast. Only 31 inch meats and it still does anything. I have raced some Chevy PUs and I always keep up or blow them away. I just replaced the engine with 118,500 miles on it, but it still had some life left in it. I will always have a bronco in my garage. Probably this one. Anyone who wants a truck that has power, looks decent and is just great to drive anywhere would enjoy a bronco. I don't see how anyone could complain about one of these things.

1999 Expedition. Bronco has more power and is better off road and is just more fun to drive.

Strength:

Tough as Hell.. Can take a Crash.. You Will Live.. Good Looking Truck.. Make it a convertable in seconds.. Can put an amazing lift kit on it. Can
Make the neighbors mad in seconds of the sound of ignition.. Tuff, Tuff,Tuff!

Weakness:

really , a CRASH like I had and walk away?? none..

The 1979 Ford Bronco is teenager's dream! It's Tough, Rough, Ruthless and you can drive it into what ever ail's u and guess what? No Air bags needed! You got fine "real" American workmanship behind you! I crashed mine (my 79)in '86 ..two days after geting it lifted six inches with 35 inch tires and crashed it but good! It was a goner.. no hope, but.. I would not be alive today If it was not for the way Ford made their good product line of then called 4x4's (not SUV's).. Ford needs to get it togther and bring the Bronco Back.. Forget the Exporer.. and get back to making Heavy Utillitiy vechicles again.. I am searching for an old '79 to re-build.

Strength:

power, interior room, go-anywhere 4 wheel drive, comfortable to ride in for a truck, durability

Weakness:

well it likes gas but its to be expected, ive had to replace some ignition parts but i have no complaints

My parents bought it new and put 130k miles on it and gave it to me when i turned 16 im 17 now and the thing is extremely durable. very impressive on snowy and icy roads especially with my cooper discover stt's. its got 31's on it but im hoping to get a 6 in lift and some 35's in the near future. All i can say is im very impressed with the durability of ford's engines. im gonna drive it till the wheels fall off (then im gonna put them back on)

its just a beast all around. ive driven my brothers dodge, and my mom's Z71 tahoe and i would take the bronco every time as far as 4x4's are concerned

Strength:

Off-Road Ability, reliability, looks.

Weakness:

gas mileage, but I have no overdrive or cruise control. The biggest flaw would have to be the back window. The guy/gal that designed that needs to be kicked in the a*#! It needed to have a manual way to roll it down if the electric motor failed. Not real good with infants in a car seat in back.

This has been a wonderful vehicle. VERY reliable. One of the best vehicles I have ever owned. On road ability is good, off-road is excellant. Have gotten stuck ONCE in 4 years and the New Dodge 4X4 that came in to pull me out got stuck. We had to have a CAT pull us out!

1996 Explorer Limited, still have it, but is not comparable since they are used for totally different reasons.

Strength:

Big wheel wells. Awesome Gearing. HELL OF AN OFFROADER!!

Weakness:

Horsepower.<-easily adjusted though. loves gas, but isnt to bad compared to other SUVs. The adjustable back window..it the only pain in the a@#, and the tail gate is know to rust.

Hardcore Truck. Do all, go anywhere! Easy to add on to, and easy to fix. There is room everywhere..underneath, engine compartment, passanger compartment...so on! It can cruise Highway, beach, the mud plains anywhere. I have enjoyed every minute of owning and driving her! I will always own one, if not the one on have now, the rest of my life!
Can be driven by all, moms, dads, teenagers. Probably not a good idea for the elderly. Ford should start making them again!

Strength:

Very very rugged body and drivetrain, roomy and comfortable

Weakness:

The gas mileage

Large, roomy, safe, very comfortable w/ captains chairs, extremly strong drive train, these trucks where designed & made to last w/ over 45,000 hrs of development .My bronco has close to 400K miles w/ over 180k on 2nd motor. and I will rebuild it once more. The best differentials, transfer case, motor you can find. The turning radius is phenominal, on a dime, not even my CJ-5 came close. I have pulled a full size chevy pu 4X4 and jeep together with no problem . Excellent climber.

Similar Products Used:

Jeep CJ-5,M38A1- Far more stable, roomy, bronco has a much beefier and stronger frame than the jeep, and the gas mileage about the same

awesome power, awesome looks, steady handling, sounds great...most importantly i enjoy driving it every time! even in bad traffic in LA!

Weakness:

the gas mileage of course! but that's my only complaint! you gotta pay for power

I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!! THIS IS THE BEST PURCHASE I'VE EVER MADE! strong, powerful, like a f-cking mack truck, this motherf-cker powers through everything. looks awesome, looks better than any other car or truck on the road. engine growls like a pent up beast...when i moved, i hooked a u-haul trailer to the back, loaded up like 2000 lbs. and this beast didn't even feel it. it wants to show you its power. bad motherf-cking truck. this here is the TRUE KING OF THE ROAD. everyone gets the f-ck out the way when i come barreling down the street. mothers gotta shield their young kids. everyone is feeling the power.

no comparison. maybe only the 60-70s bronco is a badder truck on the road. otherwise this here is the king of the road

gas milege, but who cares, spin 350 hp out the rear tires and 6.5 mpg doesn't matter

the best 4x4 ever built. nothing can compare. plenty of power, excellent steering (on a dime), soft ride, lots of room, easy to work on. simply the best

only thing i've driven that compares is the 78' and 79' f-150 shortbed pickups. but not as much room inside
