Ford Bronco (1996 and older) SUV | Crossover

Ford Bronco (1996 and older) SUV | Crossover

DESCRIPTION

The Ford Bronco is a sport utility vehicle that was produced from 1966 to 1996, with five distinct generations. The original Bronco was an ORV (Off-Road Vehicle), intended to compete primarily with Jeep CJ models and the International Harvester Scout. The redesign of the second generation Bronco in 1978 was based on a shortened full sized F-100 pickup. It had a removable top and forward folding rear bench seat, similar to the competing Blazer.

(1980 - 1986) The Ford Bronco received a major redesign for 1980, coinciding with the F-Series pick-up truck. The new Bronco was shorter, and had cosmetic changes along with powertrain, suspension and other odds and ends.

(1992 - 1996) The Ford Bronco, along with the F-Series truck, was updated for 1992. The new Bronco was redesigned with safety in mind, incorporating front crumple zones, rear shoulder seat belts, a third brakelight embedded in the removable top, and after 1994, driver-side airbags.

Strength:

Looks, turning radius and comfort.

Weakness:

IT EATS GAS LIKE NOTHING ELSE ! And i also have this strange " bumping " noise comming somewhere from the rear end at stop and go and over bumps in the road ! if anyone have the same problem and knows what it is, please e-mail me ! I also think that the interior is a little bit to " plastic " and it makes alot of squeeking and rattling noise on rough roads.

This is a nice " car " i love the space and it`s really easy to handle for being such a big car and you feel like your " The king of the road "

So much power with the 351 and the bigger rear end, easy to drive for a big (and first) truck

Weakness:

Well, lemme see, I make 6.75 at my job, and it has a 30 gallon gas tank and a big v8.....

Had been looking for a first vehicle for a couple months, and decided I wasn't going to buy anything until i could get a Bronco. Came across this in a local news paper, and for the price, I was expecting to have to do some work. This wasn't the case at all. The vehicle was in emaculate condition for being 12 years old... small dent in tail gate and front fender, and needed tires and a windsheild for inspection. That was it! NO rust at all... even on the tail gate. It has the 351 and towing package, I've pulled several tree stumps out with this!

Strength:

Reliable overall. Good off road for it's size. Good traction control. Good ground clearance. Engine runs VERY smooth and quiet.

Weakness:

5.0 is underpowered! Can't haul over 3,000 pounds unless it's over flat road. Real gas guzzler. 50,000 mile check is a rip off for anywhere from $1000 to $1500.Hubs replaced 3 times in the first 28,000 miles - was told by dealer it was a factory defect so charge. Hubs would not disengage was the specific problem.

Overall pretty good truck. A real classic. Bought new in 1996, last year for them, and still have it. May never sell it. Factory defective hubs are VERY common. Good reliable engine, but too underpowered. Get the auto trans if you tow. I paid $17,892 with auto and air in 1996, should have bought two for the value.

Surprisingly handles well for its size, Strong drivetrain, Good looks, Removable top, and o yeah my friends adore it.

Weakness:

Yes the gas mileage. But think about it. Would you feed a tic-tac to Sasquatch and expect him to call it a meal? Hell no!

Have to say I love this truck! Unfortunately, the previous owner beat the crap out of it, did his own rewiring, gutted out the interior, and was hit on the skull before working on the engine. Yet I still love it. I bought the truck as a project vehicle and have done some extensive restoring. Yes the truck has some rust spots but nothing too severe to fix. But hey, some battle scars are inevitable from off-road abuse. The stock 302 has never had any major work and neither has the C6 tranny and 9 inch rear end. This beast is strong!!! I will have this bad boy for as long as I live.

Strength:

Reliablity, Strong drivetrain. Torque Four wheel drive. Small turning radius. Build FORD tough

Weakness:

They stopped making it or I will get a brand new one !!! Ford image is the strongest weekness. People just assume since it's a Ford it's no good.

EAST OR WEST BRONCO IS THE BEST !!!! I have head this bronco for about 5-6 months now. Put like 8,000 miles on it. Now it runns as smooth as my 2001 Corolla (which I sold to get it). It has a little 2.9 ltr V6 but it got enough torque to it. I can still spin tires and go fast. My wife just got a ticket in it for driving 70+ miles in 55 miles zone. She says it goes too fast (She drives a Caddi otherwise !!!!). I can fold down the seats and put whatever I can think of and there would be room for more. Only one little quarter size rust spot other than that it's perfect. When I take it for an service people gash at it they can't beleive how good a condition it is in. Strong strong 4 wheel drive. I do not go off road other than occasional trips to park but I tried a few times and it doesn't have any problem in going anywhere.

Duh...the strength...torque...room...i just love it

Weakness:

like everyone has said...gas mileage...and i know that its going to be expensive to repair when it starts falling apart

Ok...i am a Bronco chick. I am the only one of my friends who doesnt want a car or a sporty sleek looking vehicle. I want to mud bog, and tow stuff and go on road trips. I finally have a Bronco after always wanting one. Now i love it. Its a 1993 Eddie Bauer Edition....power everything...lots of torque...and hopefully it will last a long time...and if it doesnt...oh well..i will just replace everything, even if it makes me lose everything and forces me to live in my Bronco. I really love Broncos...mine needs some work, but when its all done, it should kick ass.
