Ford Bronco (1996 and older) SUV | Crossover

DESCRIPTION

The Ford Bronco is a sport utility vehicle that was produced from 1966 to 1996, with five distinct generations. The original Bronco was an ORV (Off-Road Vehicle), intended to compete primarily with Jeep CJ models and the International Harvester Scout. The redesign of the second generation Bronco in 1978 was based on a shortened full sized F-100 pickup. It had a removable top and forward folding rear bench seat, similar to the competing Blazer.

(1980 - 1986) The Ford Bronco received a major redesign for 1980, coinciding with the F-Series pick-up truck. The new Bronco was shorter, and had cosmetic changes along with powertrain, suspension and other odds and ends.

(1992 - 1996) The Ford Bronco, along with the F-Series truck, was updated for 1992. The new Bronco was redesigned with safety in mind, incorporating front crumple zones, rear shoulder seat belts, a third brakelight embedded in the removable top, and after 1994, driver-side airbags.

Strength:

Strong driveline. Excellent traction in all conditions. Very dependable once I went through it and worked out the bugs from the previous owner. Very cold A/C.

Weakness:

Hey, who am I kidding? What gas mileage?? Brakes are HARD to keep adjusted. Also, has anyone ever had a Bronco NOT rust in the quarters or the tailgate??

I love my Bronco more than ANY other vehicle I''ve ever owned. This is one vehicle that is very versatile. It served as the "family" car for a couple of years until I bought my wife an Expedition. On weekends, it turns into the work truck by pulling a trailer full of landscaping stuff or hauling supplies for my home projects. Shine her up, remove the top, and she is the ULTIMATE party wagon!! All of my 15 year old son''s friends think his dad has the coolest car around. Initially I had to do some rebuilding on the front suspension. It now has some rust on the quarters that will be fixed this month. Other than some usual problems for a vehicle with 155,000 miles, this baby''s been an absolute DREAM. I''ve thought about selling it a time or two, but I couldn''t part with this rig for anything!

Strength:

Roominess, gas mileage, strength, and the looks.

Weakness:

Frequent u-joints, two starters, air conditioning, tire alignments, front locking hubs replaced at 50,000, and had a crack in front axle (probably my fault?)

Broncos were built to last. Thinking about bying one, definately go for it. I got 155,000 miles on it and had the transmission rebuilt at 125,000, but that is expexted. I''ve pulled the boat many times and she gets the job done better than expected. Better than average gas mileage for such a bulky vehicle,(17mpg). VERY comfortable captains chairs w/ excellent cargo room in the back. Can turn 90 degrees into a parking spot. A little bumpy ride, but is expected with such a short wheel base. 302 has some balls in it!

Strength:

turning radius, power from 351, removable top, plenty of room inside, off-road capability that is second to none.

Weakness:

the only weakness is the gallons per mile fuel economy.

the best 4x4 built period. i have a 4"lift with 33x12.50 and have never been stuck. the 351m has more power than needed for hillclimbing, mudding, etc..... i like the turning radius and removable top too.i plan on doin more in the near future.it has only 72,000 miles on it so it will last for quite a while.

looks mean,5.8 power, real comfy bucket seats, strong suspension for a halfton and it pulls my 24 foot boat with ease, killer cold air cond, not a head turner but a neck breaker, shiny paint no peeling like gm or dodge, comfy ride could put you asleep, the list goes on,,,

Weakness:

swallows more liquid than a drunk on payday, junk ford stereo, loose steering, creaks and cracks from the use of hard plastic for the interieor,,engine set up makes it hard to work under the hood, chevy v8 much easier,,have to give it lots of gas to really get her movin from a stop, but when u gunner she shoots, backrest on back seat not good to far leaned forward, electrical probs, hey every vehicle has its faults,im happy,,so far, very cool

being a stuborn chevy owner and only a chevy owner,i can say this is my first ford and im not disapointed at all like i thought i would be,i sold my big red 3/4 ton chevy 4x4,and went out on my hunt, looking for days i came across this black beauty there she was a 94 black with chrome rims no rust she just came from florida so i was lucky not 2 get a rusty truck like i was used to,being she had no rust anywhere i mean even underneath, she does have some in the tailgate bottom wich is caused from drain holes being clogged in tailgate,oh well, she still passed my inspection, now i will begin with why i got her so cheap,,,i ask for the key from the dealer he tell me nothing,,ya see these wise guys wont either if theres something wrong you will have to discover it yourself,,and that i did,,i put the key in and turn that beefy 5.8 over she started good,,passenger side power window went down but wouldnt go back up,nothing on the steering wheeel worked like the horn and cruise control, power locks and power lumbar dont work either wait im not done,,tailgate window goes down and up from inside botton but doesnt work from outside key at tailgate traler wires dont work so i cant tow my boat tailgate also will not drop down when i reached in and pulled the handle,,i think thats about it ,but for the price of 5300 for a 8000 truck,it was worth it to me cause im wrench head and i just said to myself ,ill fix that at home when i pull her in the garage,so i went and gave him the cash got her home, and,,new power window motor for passenger side,$60.00,,new trailer wiring kit $26,00,2 fuses $5.00 it didnt fix my power locks or lumbar theese 2 are on the same curcuit,,found out it a voltage drop,i said screw it with the stuff on the steering wheel,,who needs a horn or cruise anyway..tailgate hmmm dont know she wont release,oh well atleast the window goes down haa,,better then the blazer window,,anyhow i buffed all the oxidation off and she shine like a mirror, not a scratch, she was well take care of,,female owned so thats cool ,with all of these problems im happy its agreat truck,,,,

Strength:

Powerful high output engine, good 4x4 drive train, tough and well built, even the paint still looks good.

Weakness:

Leaks oil, lost oil pressure until I put in new oil pump. Unusually small gas tank. This is easily over loked.

My dad originally bought this truck but gave it to me when I started driving. My fist and only truck so far. It is an XLT 4x4 with a 351W H.O.,4-barrel holley, 4 valves per cylinder and dual exhaust. Suspension is stock with 32" all terrain tires. Plenty to have fun but I plan to change it. I love my truck, it has power, size, and durability. It has 147,000 miles and only one major problem. The 310 ft-lbs of torque makes this tank of an suv get up and go. It is the best real suv Ford ever made.

Strength:

The feeling of safety from having 2-1/2 tons of American steel surrouding you. The maneuverability, owing to the short wheelbase, is outstanding.

Weakness:

Blind spots on either side an Abrams tank could be driven through without being seen - situation slightly improved with a couple small aftermarket mirrors glued to those already on the vehicle. Steering that''s a bit unresponsive at speed.

Awesome vehicle. Appears to be easy to maintain and keep in tune. You feel invincible tooling down the highway in this big rig. Right around 17 mpg combined highway and city driving, too - not bad at all. Plenty of pickup from the 5.8. My Bronco is lifted about 3" and is riding on 33x12.5x15" Mickey''s. Next improvement will be a K&N Fuel Injection Performance kit, and perhaps some trick wires & plugs.

Anything and Everything, That lil 5.0 L starts right up everytime, never fails. Makes it better for 4X4, because i got a 4 speed manual. Like i said, this beast goes anywhere and everywhere, and does everything! more hardcore than my mom''''s explorer (taken it off roading once or twice) Nowhere near as good!!!

Weakness:

Absolutely none!

I LOVE this vehicle! It''''s my first vehicle, and i plan on keeping it for a long time! Guy originally wanted 1500 for it, but talked him down, because he thought engine was bad. It wasnt! It was just the Oxygen sensor for the EFI! We did a complete restoration on it, new paint, interior, stereo, etc. Best 4x4 Ford has ever made! My buddy thinks he can beat it with his lifted Blazer (BOOO!!!) I can go more places with my bronco STOCK than he can with his blazer lifted!! I got 31" wild countries on em, looking into getting 33" super swampers.
