Come on people do you really need to drive these tanks around our city streets. Don't buy something like this unless you really have a need for it, taking the kids to school doesnt count.

Strength:

Amazing road handling, quiet ride and takes you wherever you want to go.

Weakness:

I'd only be nit-picking. Nothing worth mentioning

I'm in awe of this vehicle. It's hard to believe how well it works. Feels like a Lexus and works like a truck. The feeling of control when going down the road is exhilarating. I can see over most cars and slow down long before the guy in front of me slams on his brakes. I fill up the car with my wife and four kids and we have never felt safer. We have also been able to vacation in the mountains in places we could not go before. What a great product Ford has made.

Strength:

Size

Weakness:

Engine is underpowered, Ive had too many problems to date.
Engine leaks, power windows are noisy, my tranny was rebuilt.

Sorry, I tried Ford after a few years with a Tahoe and BOY!
What a mistake! Im trading mine in for a 2000 Suburban. My last GM had its problems (what vehicle doesnt?) but not nearly as close to the number of disapointments Ive had with the expedition.

Strength:

Great feel on the road, Tight turns are a breeze.
Fairly quiet except for a rattle I still can't find in the
back.
I'm 6'4 and occasionally take a nap in the back of the vehicle (I removed the 3rd seat), and I can stretch out without any difficulty.
I have the 2 wheel drive version.
I have been called by Ford in Detroit asking if I am having any problems with the vehicle and if I need any help. They even scheduled an appointment with my dealer here in Hawaii.
Tons of room.

Weakness:

Poor Gas Mileage. Says 15MPG on the the sticker but I'm getting 11 in the city and that's with the 4.6 and 2 wheel drive.
Directionals are annoying, You have to have the wheel perfectly straight or moderately turned, Otherwise the directional won't stay down.
Engine underpowered. I don't tow anything and I'm glad I don't. I hate being passed by 4cyl Honda's.
My biggest disappointment is the 60/40 front passenger seat. I should have gotted the console with the bucket passenger seat instead. I does have a center armrest that comes down but anything you put on the seat slips under the armrest and falls into the backseat. (POOR DESIGN).

All in all I love my truck. I will find a smashed up one and change the passenger seat and put a console in. The one thing I can say about the truck is that it is underpowered but a solid piece of truck. I'm a tall guy and you can't beat the room and comfort of the Expedition.

Model Reviewed: Eddie Bauer 4WD 5.4L V8

Strength:

Quality, comfort, drivability, visibility, reliability, safety. Handles great in the snow. Engine is powerful -- we took it to Yellowstone and had no problems accelerating up hills at 10,000 ft.

Great mix of luxury and ruggedness.

Weakness:

Not enough cargo space unless you take out the third seat.
Poor gas mileage (11 in town, 15 on the highway.)

I have absolutely no buyers remorse for this vehicle. I got a good deal through the Costco vehicle purchase program -- a fully loaded 4WD Eddie Bauer edition with the 5.4L engine for $36K. List price was $42K, and other dealers in the area were marking them up over list price by 3-4K.

If you make a lot of road trips or live somewhere with adverse weather, you will love this SUV.

After owning an Expedition, I am sold on the quality Ford has engineered into their vehicles, at least on the higher end.

Strength:

I have never actually loved a vehicle like I LOVE my Expedition. It handles very well - feeling more solid than the Explorers we tried. My favorite option? Heated seats!

Weakness:

One thing I will not do without is keyless entry (keypad). Ford has changed keyless entry so that you can not use it if you leave your engine running and lock your doors. This was a handy feature on my previous vehicles if I wanted to leave the heater on in my car while I "ran in" a store for a minute. So, the weakness is the limited keyless entry.

When my lease is up, I doubt I will even try anything else besides another Expedition.

Strength:

Fits in my garage, suburb wouldn't, Tahoe too small. Enough room for kids on long trips. Pretty good power.

Weakness:

Mine handled pretty bad. Not all drive this way! Maybe the 17" wheels must be changed. Too sensitive steering. Bounces out of control on bumps. Dangerous!

Well replaced the steering box for a 2000 model and improved the steering a bit. Edlebrock made some shocks for my X, handling improved greatly. Rear swaybar replaced for better cornering. I guess I'll replace the 17" wheels for 16's. Rented a 98 and drove it fine. All in all, I'll keep it, handles pretty good now, Safer! Payed 32.6K for it, 100$ over invoice. I shouldn't had to do all this for that price.

Strength:

Reliability, quietness, quality, off-road stability

Weakness:

Tires don't have treads aggressive enough for snow.

I sell land in Las Vegas. This machine can handle a fine silt we call moondust and all sorts of desert obstacles while keeping my clients cool, comfortable, and steady. It is a surprisingly good off-road vehicle, and a superb and quiet highway cruiser.
