Strength:

Roomy,Comfortable, Quiet,Powerful,Trouble Free. We've had this vehicle for just over 1 year and it has been a pleasure. Not one single thing has gone wrong with it. It drives and handles amazingly well for such a behemoth. I especially like the in-dash CD player.

Weakness:

Gas mileage is not good, but we knew that when we decided upon the vehicle. I absolutley HATE the self locking doors. Every time the car is put into gear, the doors lock. Seems like we're always unlocking doors that we don't want locked.

As you can tell from the above, we are very satisfied with the Expedition. For very little money more, it is way better than an Explorer. Despite being a much taller vehicle, it doesn't feel nearly as tippy.

The power leather seats are suportive, the controls are logical and easy to use, there are loads of storage bins and pockets and the ventilation system is excellent. Everything EXCEPT THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS is well thought out.

Who would have thought that such a big lug of a vehicle could be so much fun to drive.

EVERYTHING, POWER, HANDLING, SAFETY FACTOR, SEX APPEAL (WOMEN LOVE A MAN IN A NICE CAR),

Weakness:

I don't see any REAL weaknesses. people would complain about gas. Yet I feel as with anything in this world, it's gonna cost you if it's even close to being worth it. As long as a person maintains a "normal" routine the gas should not be a big deal.

I absolotely love this vehicle!!! I jumped from my 94 Camry to this awesome piece of machinery. I am 6'5" in height and 265lbs in weight, so I NEED a huge machine. I love it, and recomend it 2 anyone.

Strength:

The most comfortable SUV we've driven or ridden in to date.

Weakness:

Third seat entry difficult for some, gas guzzler. Our Check Engine light came on numerous times, dealership told us the gas cap wasn't on correctly, they'd reset it and send us on our way, continued to happen after warranty was up ( we were stupid and didn't get the extended warranty, we did with both the Olds and Toyota and then never used them)
after being in the shop and within a week the light coming on again, they finally figured out the problem and fixed it. After we'd had it 6 months we started blowing a fuse that controlled the electric windows and all the interior lights and running board lights, it happened several times under warranty and they'd put a new fuse in when it was serviced, after the warranty was up it was happening more frequently, Ford couldn't find the problem so we now have someone else trying to find the cause. At 50,000 miles the under carriage is starting to rust, we do drive it as it was intended as we live in the country and drive rural roads, but is always garaged and kept clean. I do feel like it is a lemon, too many little things to list but one royal pain is the childproof locks seem to lock themselves, we flip the switch so they are off, and the next time one of the kids go to get out they are locked again.

This was our first Ford and will be our last, the quality and longevity of the vehicle is horrible and the service is poor!

Pure confort, convenience and power! The big 5.4L V-8 goes like a rocket. 4X4 will be great this winter. Tons of room. Big leather seats. Awesome stereo AM/FM/CASSETTE/6CD CHANGER rocks! Dual air, etc! How can anything compete with this vehicle?

Weakness:

None so far. Replacing the 17" tires will be expensive. Came with Goodyear's about 50% good, but they threw in 2 new Goodyear Wranglers and the spare is new, so I only have to buy one. I got a hell of a deal on this rig! Only 50,000 miles on it. Just like BRAND NEW shape. There are no weaknesses in this vehicle to me!

I have owned this ride for 1 week and I LOVE it. Who cares about gas prices give me power and comfort and get outta my way! haha This ride has everything. Leather, 3 rows of seats. The 3rd seat will probably go to ebay, but I'm not sure yet. Every option, tons of power, 17" wheels, tight ride, and definitely King of the Road. This unit drives and rides like the luxury SUV it is supposed to be. Did I say I love it? Buy one.

I replaced a 1988 Ford F250 pickup with this. It was not as powerful or roomy and had a manual trans. I take good care of my vehicles and keep them for quite awhile. But good riddance to the F250. I drove an Explorer, too and it was like a poor baby compared to the Expedition!

Weakness:

Too numerous -- see Overall Impression

Benefits: Big and roomy period. This truck handles very sloppily and I agree that it is very dangerous, especially on windy stretches of road. have had numerous pesky problems, molding coming off, tears in laether seats, etc. Have had one BIG problem that seems to be happening to others out there: Driving back from Vegas a spark plug blew right out of the engine incapacitating the vehicle. (69900 miles) This was obviously a manufacturing defect, and unfortunately, our warranty had run out. The Ford Dealer -- Hemborg Ford in Norco, CA is charging us $2000 to fix -- the whole cylinder head has to be removed and fixed!! This is something that has happened to many other expedition drivers, but Ford probably thinks its too expensive to try to recall. Hembnorg Ford doesn't care and Ford Motor company doesn't care! We're dumping this lemon as soon as we get it out of the shop. No more Fords for us!!

Strength:

Roominess, Comfortable seating, well placed controls, excellent turning radius, engine fluids easy to check, great tow vehicle, oil changes are a snap, quiet ride, easy to use 4WD

Weakness:

12mpg city, 17.5mpg highway, spark plug look like they'll be a nightmare to remove, front a/c vents limited on adjustments, minature glove compartment, hard for elderly to get in

We bought this vehicle 15 months ago with 34000 miles on it and have been quite impressed with the quality and overall charteristics of the vehicle. The only problem, which has only happened 4 or 5 times, is the air suspension light has come on, this is easily remedied by stoping and turning the ignition off and then restarting the vehicle. The vehicle is equiped with the 4.6L and sufficiently tows a 2800lbs. boat. The only repair thus far is new front brake pads and the front rotors turned.

Weakness:

Interior fit, finish, and quality of materials. Handling on 17"" wheels

(1998 Model) - Having owned almost every other SUV, this product is much better than most. Performance is excellent though fuel economy is tepid. I have one strong complaint - the interior finish does not stand up to everyday use. The plastic material is easily scratched and efforts to clean the material results in discoloration.

Strength:

Size, maneuverability, great turning radius. Comfy interior. Drives really well with a full load (7 passengers + equipment.

Weakness:

1 week after purchase, I had to bring it in for a week. Faulty seatbelt recall. If you bought a 2001 Expedition, definitely get this checked out. Front seatbelt can come unclasped randomly. Scary. Recall happened smoothly though.

Clearance is almost 6'06" I like this, but some parking structures are too short (esp. w/after-market roof racks).

Lots of fun! I dig the power and size of this vehicle. So far the gas mileage sucks, but I use this vehicle mostly for trips. I'm lucky that I don't have to drive to work, otherwise it would make no sense. I am 6'04" and can stretch out in the back. This is what did it for me. The Tahoe and Sequoia were the other options, neither felt as roomy, and neither could offer significantly better gas mileage.

Also: I got a really good deal with the summer rebates. MSRP on my vehicle was over $40K.

Note: If you are not planning to use this vehicle for off-road adventuring, get a minivan for pete's sake.
