Strength:

Gas Mileage Handling Room Looks (interior and exterior) Options that are standard Engine very quiet

Weakness:

Could be a little quieter on the road noise. A good set of Michelins will probably help that.

Love it so far. Great SUV. Handles great. Lots of fun to drive. Tons of room and storage space. Looks great. Comes with automatic and power locks, windows and mirrors standard. Most other SUV others you have to pay alot extra to get these features.

Strength:

Great reliability, great gas milege, easy parking. Wow-the trunk space is amazing, did some heavy duty shopping at Ikea, Sears, and nurseries. Everything so far seem to fit except for a large couch!

Weakness:

No power going up hills (what do you expect for a 4-cylinder automatic), minor problems after 60K miles.

Good SUV for its price. Nice Honda reliability. Started having minor problems at 60K miles. First whenever you hit the accelerator, it has a "cough" like jerk. I put in those gas cleaner liquid in my gas tank, it helped a little, but it's back. Also, the door lock on driver side is broken. I have to pull up the lever manually now. This seems unusal for a Honda.

Strength:

Has been low maintenance, comfortable ride, good pick up, lots of room inside. Has held it's value. I actually leased it. Was the first lease that I am not upside down in! Makes a good car to lease.

Weakness:

Have had trouble with the passenger door sticking. Been in to the dealer 4 times, can't fix it. Worse on cold days and first time opened for the day. Makes it a pain to drop kids off at school. Have to put their feet on the front seat and leverage themselves to pull it open. Front seat cup holders don't support well, lots of spills! Getting a little noisier inside (road noise) as it gets older.

I have been very happy with my minivan. It is comfortable both for myself and my tall husband. Lots of cup holders for the kids. Very low maintenance, except had to replace tranmission this year, under warranty :).Love the rear seats, all four (middle and back can come out, and even I can do it. (Heavy but posible). Can remove any of them or all of them. handles like a car. Good sound, good exceleration when needed.

Model Reviewed: CRV EX

Strength:

Gas mileage, EX package loaded, handling, simple dash controls, rear door very user friendly, back seat fold down process,

Weakness:

Bucket seats poor, styling (wheels/ tires look "small", audio system not as good as our previously owned GM products, Honda service department (see comments in above review), could not get price below sticker (talked to 5 dealers).

First, I AM NOT A HONDA EMPLOYEE! I wanted to review our Honda, but I wanted some miles on it. Just turned 10,000 miles and my wife and I are very pleased with it. This is our first SUV and first non-American vehicle. We drove them all; Vue, Liberty, Santa Fe, Escape, Rodeo. If it wasn't going to be the CRV, the Liberty was a close second (gas mileage killed it). We went with the EX model; the LX was just to bare-bones. Have a warning light that comes on occasionally; retightening the gas cap takes care of it. I have a problem on trips longer than 3 hours; my back starts hurting. The seats are not as comfortable as my Chevy Astro. Took it in for the 10,000 miles service ($120 - ouch). They did not rotate the full size spare tire in; they said they only do this if the customer requests. My reply: What good is it if you don't use it! Also, we have a rattle that they did not fix; service guy said it's the brakes and is inherient to the CRV. I said: I don't think so. Taking it back to have the tire and brake thing taken care of. Hope we get many more enjoyable miles out of it.

Strength:

Longer and sits higher than last years model Roomier Nicer Sunroof available in EX only Easier than before to pick up speed although only a V-4

Weakness:

Seats Interior color-only 2 colors available(black and brown)

I love my brand new CR-V. I had wood grain added to this EX model as well as leather seats and my only BIG complaint about this car is the interior colors available on it. I have a white CR-V and the only interior color is this nasty brown color that as the salesman put it, "it'll grown on you" and I guess you can say it has. I love that it now comes with a sunroof if you get the EX model. Now you don't need to get a car to get a sunroof! The windows come with tint already in them from the manufacturer! How about that?! It rides GOOD and looks great! It has alot more room in the back than the older model CR-V, I know since I traded that one for this one. I have to admit that the seats are ackward. You can't quite fix them to your desire as much as you try.

Strength:

Profound Safety features are reliable and accurate for what they are meant for. The Airbags do not hurt you when deployed. The seatbelts hold you with minimal discomfort. The leg area did not buckle at a collision speed of over 110 mph impact (combined speed of both vehicles). Stress Points absorb impact as they should. An extreme safety machine. When it ran well, the maintenance was almost non existant as the vehicle after 46,000 miles only had fluid changes.

Weakness:

The noise of the road was apparent until floor mats were put in. Then it quieted down some.

This small SUV saved our lives. We were in a head-on collision with our 2000 CR-V on a highway, and that was 1 week ago. We are both fine and went to work 3 days after the accident. The other car did not fair so well. The driver is alive but will be in hospital for up to 2 months. Our CR-V was extraordinary in our own personal crash test, and we WILL be purchasing a 2002 CR-V this week. If the reports are correct with more enhanced "safety" features, this new vehicle will alleviate all worries as to our survivability in similar circumstances.

Strength:

Powerful 4 cylinder engine; Well-designed instrument panel; Great CD player/ radio Convenient space arrangement for the size; Love the full sized-spare tire and accessibility.

Weakness:

Please, please, please redesign the uncomfortable seats; Make the rear seats removable; Consider bigger wheels as a possibility.

This is a great little SUV that will probably last a long time. There are some considerations that your will need to make before purchasing one, however. In spite of being built on a car based platform, the vehicle does not ride like a car. The seats (my biggest complaint) are not very comfortable for the average American male's frame -- I'm still trying to adjust to them. If they weren't so wrap around...they'd be tolerable. In spite of all, the torque (for a 4 cyl engine) is very impressive. This SUV has no problem towing my 19' sailboat! The interior space is great, but sometimes I have to be a little creative loading stuff inside. It's too bad that the rear seats don't come out instead of just folding forward. Don'e expect to get 27-28 mpg as advertised -- 22-24 mpg is more like it which brings me to my final suggestive criticism -- I think that the vehicle could use a 20 gal tank instead of a ~15.5 one. I think that we will keep this puppy, but hope that I can do something about those seats. Doubt if I could take it on a long trip.

The Honda CRV is everything good you hear about it. I purchased mine the same day I saw it. I bought it Certified so I get an additional 100,000 mile warenty. In the relm of SUV's the CRV in not the fastest or the roomiest, but for the money and you get to carry around the title "Honda" to the vehicle you drive. My first two cars were Honda's and they are the best thing since sliced bread.

Strength:

reliability, resale, great gas economy, style for 2002

Weakness:

Even though it got a boost in horses this year, I think it could use a little bit more of them.

I think the CRV is a nice overall vehicle. It's reliable, good on gas, and has great resale value. That is all that matters to me. Even though it's underpowered, skimpy on space and lacks many features found on other small sport utes, I'm still happy with it. I'm a young, single person, so space and features don't really interest me. In other words I never go off roading nor haul sizeable loads. I do wished it had a little more power. That would have been nice. I think the CRV is an excellent choice for people who just want a good deal on a reliable small SUV who don't need or want to spend extra on features that they'll use very little or not at all. On the other hand, people who do perfer more space andor features should consider another small SUV that offers them.
