Strength:

Strong enough motor for the size; even though it's 4-cylinder, it revs up great. New looks make people turn their heads. Comfortable seats and easy-to-use control knobs. Great gas mileage. Lots of storage space, etc.... ?

Weakness:

The only weakness that I can find is the rims on the LX model - yuk! I am going to replace those. But that's just a personal gripe.

Test drove & researched other Midsize and small SUV's for almost 3 months and didn't even really consider this because I was unaware of the redesigned body style & interior. I was introduced to these changes and the possiblility of purchasing one on a Friday - I bought it the next Tuesday. The vehicle drives great and has TONS of room for a small SUV. Add great purchase price, great resale value, and the reliablility that comes with the Honda name, and you've got yourself a great deal! ?

WHAT A IMPROVEMENT OVER MY 99' CR-V EX. THE BIGGER ENGINE IS WHAT IT NEEDED. BETTER SOUND SYSTEM, SMOOTHER RIDE & HANDLING.NEW OPTIONS LIKE THE SUNROOF AND SIDE AIR BAGS ARE GREAT. DO WISH THEY WOULD HAVE PUT THE POWER OUTLET ON THE PASSENGER SIDE LIKE IN MY 99'. THEY IMPROVED ALL THE THINGS THAT WERE WRONG WITH MY 99'.

Good power for a V4 engine.Quicker on the road due to light body weight. ABS module works perfect in case of short stopping distances & slippery roads. Awesome mileage for an SUV. 25 on the highway, 22 on normal roads

Weakness:

Would love a V6, 200+hp for the same size. Needs to more sound proof.

Drives wonderful. I feel more safe driving the Honda CRV over other SUV's. Has big cargo space & rear seats are very comfortable. No noise from the engine/transmission. 2002 CRV looks bigger & better than earlier models.

Weakness:

Gear shifter on automatic on dash is strange. With the room that they were trying to make, they should have put in a real console that has a lid and closes. I mean, it's not a mini van. No adult can get through to the back seat anyway even if the tray is flipped down. And if you're thinking the kids can, they shouldn't be unrestrained in a vehicle anyway. It would also be nice if they'd put 16 inch rims on it too. Now that the CRV has been out for several years, they should have added an optional V6 engine, and a POWER driver's seat. Maybe next year Honda. And I don't know if all SUV's are like this, but, they don't seem to know what a tilt steering wheel is. And why can't they put those extensions on the visors like the Toyota's have.

I have a honda suv because of its anticipated reliability. However they did add several nice long awaited features on the new 2002 CRV EX model, which are much appreciated.

Strength:

- Looks - I put foglights and rear taillight covers on it. Looks sharp. - Gas Mileage - 24MPG AVG. with Lead Foot - Space - VERY deceptively large inside - Cheap - to maintain

Weakness:

- in 50K miles absolutely NOTHING.

My Second Review. I'm at the 50K Mile/ 3 1/2 year of ownership point so I figured to post a helpful review for potential buyers. In this short time this SUV has not let me down once. I use it fairly hard and do about 15K Miles a year/50 Miles a day of stop and go type of driving. It gets 24MPG even with my lead foot. I have a Wife and three small kids and everybody fits with no issue. This thing is quick too. I do 80MPH on the highway without any engine strain at all. Couple of suggestions: 1) Put Mobil One Oil from start like I did 2) Put a K&N Air Filter (slightly better oomph and gas mileage). It's CHEAP to service as well my 1st major 45K Service was less than $300.00. My ultimate goals for this thing is to: 1) Put 250,000 miles + before I get rid of it. 2) and/or have my 7 year old son take his drivers' test in it at 17 years old. The way it's running now that will be no issue whatsoever...! I can be the official CR-V Spokesperson for this little Truck. It's incredible.

Weakness:

Looks are a bit suspect. I may have to get used to em. I am installing the rear air deflector. I think that this will improve the balance of the looks. Also, it isn't as butt-ugly on the 02 as the 97-01 spoiler.

WOW, What a steal! All the options included on the EX standard that weren't even available on the 2000: Sunroof, Bigger engine, 6 disc in dash cd changer, tinted privacy glass, better suspension, and better soundproofing. Not to mention the bigger passenger and cargo areas. What did all this cost us consumers? Well, even if you're an idiot and paid sticker, you only paid $400 more than the sticker on my 2000. Now that's a deal. OK, now I hear a lot of people talking about how their dealership won't budge on price... I got the same routine from my dealership. "we sell em faster than we get em in... we don't have to discount em" Well, then shop around. I got $1200 off my MSRP and they also upped my trade-in value $1200 over Kelly Blue Book's listed trade-in value. OH, and they also gave me all the options I wanted at their cost... God, why does anyone pay sticker... Bargain a little. I saved $2400 on my purchace price and about $1000 savings on options.

Weakness:

Road noise at speeds above 60-65.

Seems like very comfortable little SUV type car. Powertrain is terrific - super quite and pulls quite well. I really like exterior and interior design, looks cool, particularly in Chianti red. Feels very solid, and capable of pretty sharp turns, although after driving 2001 Accord EX for a year, I'm still having a bit of trouble getting used to a bit less dynamic vehicle like CR-V. Cargo capacity is excellent, and it feels very, very roomy inside. Reliability so far was 100%. Tires do generate some noise at speeds above 60, although it depends a lot on the quality of the highway. Sometimes, at speeds above 65, I can feel a certain, although weak vibration on the steering wheel, not bad, but it's there. May be it has something to do with the quality of road itself, because this problem is occasional. In general, ride is very smooth and CR-V is very easy to control. I wish Honda would offer CR-V with V6, 3L, 200+ HP motor and 16" rims, plus possibly manual switch to 4WD if required by driver, that would be absolutely the best (and probably the fastest) small SUV on the market.

Strength:

Powerful 2.4L VTEC engine, economical on fuel, very spacious cargo and passenger room, good controls layout, high seating position, very responsive and good handling.

Weakness:

Noticeable torque steer, suspension too soft for off road, door locks are not automatic, no low gear transfer case. The 4WD is automatic and cannot be engaged manually.

This is a mini SUV but for its size, it is surprisingly roomy and has lots of cargo space with the seats up, and even more room with the back seats folded completely forward. The back seats can also slide forward or backwards to suit the passenger leg room. The EX model has side airbags on both front seats, with sensors that detect children and shut down the side air bags if necessary. The folding cup tray is really neat, when folded down, it forms a walkway from the from to back seats. Driver seat height is also adjustable, and the really cool feature is the automatic gear shift position on the steering column, which frees up the floor space so that you could slide into and out of the driver seat easily from the front passenger seat. It also has dual stage sensor for the front air bags, so that the bags deploy with less force for a minor crash. Best of all is the 5-star safety rating given by NHTSA as this means the driver and passengers are kept very safe. I love the 2.4L VTEC engine. It is very peppy and has powerful acceleration, and does not strain when climbing hilly roads even when fully loaded with passengers and cargo. The best thing is long life and service interval - Honda uses a maintenance-free timing chain instead of belt, and because of built-in reliability and long life, no major tune ups or part changes are needed until 160,000 kms. I love this SUV! Good enough for a family of 5!

Strength:

Quick response, smooth accelleration, roomy for 4 adults, comfortable seating, convenient folding rear seats for cargo

Weakness:

Accessories overly priced, single speed intermitent wipers, rear door hinged on wrong side for curb loading, restricted rear visibility, unimpressive gas mileage, excessive road noise, dash mounted gear shift for auto transmission is awkward if you use 2nd and N during winter driving. Shifting was uncomfortable without taking eyes completely of the road. I use N after shifting down when approaching a snow covered or icy intersection and my reaction was hindered by the shifter location.

Overall, an enjoyable vehicle to drive. I was originally thinking of Mazda Tribute (I replaced a Mazda MPV after 12 years, rear wheel drive, V6) but inspite of my draw to other makes and models I wanted to try out Honda's legendary quality and service regardless of the drawbacks such as the rear tailgate opening. On the down side, it didn't handle very well on hiways when entering snow covered sections. The posted price was good but as all Canadians know, the tax issues, particularly the GST, kill commerce and makes it an overexpensive vehicle for it's features.
