Strength:

I like the outside design and color (Mojave Mist) and the rugged body style.

Weakness:

The A and B Trip Odometers do not operate independently of each other and each must be manually reset when beginning to track mileage in either mode as they track similtaneously. There is a slight hesitation in shifting from 1st to second gear upon acceleration from a stop. Maybe this will improve after the car has been driven more (600 miles at this time).

I would have preferred a smaller vehicle as in model years past but I appreciate the extra room. A little too noisy at high speeds with the windows cracked open. So far, I have only averaged 275 miles on a tank of gas but haven't figured the actual mpg yet (supposed to average 22-26). The ride is smooth and the car handles easily.

Strength:

Powerful, roomy, and very handy.

Weakness:

None at all.

My wife didn''t want a huge, gas sucking monster to run to work but we did want something that would eventually handle kids. We have an Accord already and after driving all the competition, knew we were going to buy the CRV. We have towed over a 1000 lbs with it and didn''t have any trouble. The hitch and the rear cargo cover were the only options we added. It''s very well laid out, functional, and visibility is great. We were very pleased with the deal and the dealership.

Strength:

Size, warranty (5yrs 100,000km, resale, ease of use, opening back window for dogs whilst driving, good view from kids booster seats, milage.

Weakness:

No V6 available

This is the second CRV we have owned. With two kids under 3 and two Golden Retievers, it has plenty of room for all of us. The last CRV (1997) we took to Fraser Island, the biggest sand island in the world. Five days of no roads, and plenty of beach, sand track work. Amount of times we got bogged: ZERO. Amount of times we helped others in "fair-dinkum 4WD''s": three. The weight and the auto transmission are just perfect in sand. Just recently on Cooloolah beach we helped tow a Subaru Outback out of bind, but then again he didn''t really know what he was doing. Small tip for CRV users on the beach. If you stop in really soft stuff and you try to move again and the front wheels start to bog, just reverse a little on the already compacted sand. This will give you a small run-up to get going again, and give the "real-time" 4wd system enough time to engage. Oh, and keep the steering wheel centred! Happy CRVing!

Strength:

All---good gas milage, very safe, rides well, comfortable...really good deal if you have a kid(s) and a dog! A pleasure to buy

Weakness:

The headrests in the back seat get in the way of the rear view, but you can just pull ''em out and put them in the storage well!

Excellent vehicle, definately worth the money. Looks sharp, rides well, is very safe (we use the center seat in the back for a car seat). In the week that I have had it, I have gotten numerous compliments!!! The salesman, Wa (pronounced ''Va'') was excellent, and, even though we did not put a deposit down, called us first when the one we were waiting for came in...and, everytime we visited the dealership, there were at least 3 other people sniffing around the CRV''s...so the demand is not hype. The back area is roomy, has enough room for a 100 pound Rottweiler (even the dog loves the CRV!), as well as storage underneath. Plus, if the dog stands up, she doesn''t block my view, which happens in a station wagon or car. It''s also a comfortable ride for the passengers in the back seat; I brought a couple for my test drive to check it out. The fact that you can move the center console to the side in the front seat is nice---easy access to the back seat---good if you have kids. Also, a plus about the the storge areas if you have a dog: the dog can''t get up front!

Strength:

Value for the money.

After owning a Ford Taurus wagon and a VW Golf which were both garbage I was looking for a quality car which would not give us any problems. I want to thank everyone who has posted here for confirming that Hondas are reliable. I did find a dealer who would take $1000 off the sticker price of $22,740 but when it came to signing the documents they insisted on $199 for window etching and $99 for wheel locks on an incoming car. I walked out. I then went on the Internet. The buying services would take off $500. I then E-mailed the 10 dealers in my area personally. Route 22 Honda in Hillside New Jersey came through with a $1000 discount with no extras. The transaction was done over the Internet and I never saw the dealership until I picked up the car. Very civilized. My salesperson was Mohamed Ibrahim (973) 705-9300. Tell him Jim the artist got $1000 off and you would like a similar deal. I get $50 for each sale. I need 435 to break even. The car is an EX with automatic transmission. From front to back. The car looks good. Large strong headlights, high turnsignals. The angry guppy lower intake is fun. Power is good; transmission is very smooth even shifting at 6500 rpm. There is some torque steer when you nail it. The hood latch is very cheap. Service intervals are very long. 100,000 on the plugs. The inside looks and feels classy. Controls have a wonderful tactile feel. Everything is logical. Lots of storage. Seats are comfortable, but could use more thigh support. Headroom is great with seat height adjustment. Radio CD is good. Back seat has lots of room but is flat. Speed is electronically governed to 109 but the speedometer reads to 150 mph – very dumb – especially in a state where a speeding ticket after insurance surcharges can come close to $1000. Storage room is very good and accessible with the side-opening door. Rain on the roof is loud. Armrests are rock hard. View outside is panoramic. Four wheel disk breaks are very good. Car and Driver indicates that the stopping distances could be better. It hasn’t snowed yet in New Jersey so I don’t know how well the 4-wheel drive will work. Mileage just commuting – 12 stops in 10 miles – is 22mpg. I have a real problem with the spare tire being on the outside. I go into New York a lot and I’m not sure how long it will last. I own an older model ''98 CRV, but I test drove the new 2002 CRV. I just want to say that I STILL don''t think the new 2002 CRV is quite where HONDA should be yet. Honda needs make the CRV with an option V6 engine. Honda also needs to put in a REAL console that you can store things inside and conseal. I will never understand that cheap flip down tray. It is ridiculous because who is going to be able to squeeze between the seats when it''s folded down anyway? Certainly not an adult, and a child shouldn''t be wandering around anyway in a moving vehicle. That''s why they make four doors. It''s not a minivan. I also do not know why they STILL have not (with all the complaints there''ve been) put on some nice regular size truck tires. Honda CRV is the ONLY one that has thes tiny sissy tires. And the horsepower is only 12 more horses from the 2001. What difference is 12 horses? You still have to jam your foot to the floor to pass someone when you''re both doing. I certainly hope that the Honda engine lives up to its reputation on longevity, because it''s gonna need it. I do like the fact that they''ve finally put in a sun roof. Why did it take so long. And finally put the window controls on the door where they BELONG! I don''t understand the goofing placing of the gear shift. Why not put it on the floor and add a console like nicer SUVs? Another goofy or cheap design that Honda needs to stop creating. Put it in the engine and the tires and the console for crying out-loud. GET WITH IT HONDA!!!! If you''re thinking why don''t I go for the Honda Passport, it''s V6, well.....in case you don''t realize the Passport''s engine is not made by Honda first of all, it is made by Izusu, (so why does Honda put it''s name on it? Yet another Honda mystery) AND the passprot is not AWD either. So for now I''ll stick with the turd that I have and wait for Honda to finally do something CRV size or a tad bigger in a V6 (not the new Honda Pilot either, that sounds like it''s going to need a V8 for it''s size, not the typical Honda choice of a too small of an engine as it will have...) Sorry for all the negativity, but, it is, what it is, and they should make some sensible changes and choices for the consumer that wants to stick with Honda''s realiability and longevity.

Strength:

Honda reliability, great gas mileage, nice design, roomy, comfortable ride.

Weakness:

Had to remove center rear headrest for better visibility. Lack of left footrest pedal. Poor speakers.

I couldn''t be happier with this vehicle. Comfortable ride, great interior with a lot of storage bins. Currently getting 25.5 mpg, mostly highway. The engine runs smooth. Best mini SUV on the maket. People keep complaining about lack of off-road ability but the CR-V wasn''t made for that neither is Honda pretending to make this an off-road vehicle. It''s an all-weather vehicle and it more than gets the job done.

Strength:

•Styling •Visibility •Economy of Gas •Handling •Looks •Low maintenance •Roomy •Safe •Love that detachable table & sink

Weakness:

•Adequate Power •Weak Front windsheilds (cracked within the first month) and Lombardi Honda never took responsibility for poor installation That''s OK cause they never saw me again

I can''t say enough about this GREAT vehicule! I then bought this Black SUV fully loaded inside and out including oversized wind deflectors and mirror attached to back window to see how close I am to parked cars and still today 5 years later it gets noticed. I''m a very busy business man barely having any time for my family let alone my machine, so I don''t need trouble - and this CR-V has fulfilled that very wish, even though I''ve neglected basic maintenance. This is like having Body Builder''s Strenght without excersising. Honda - Thanks so far for 5 great years any many more to come.

Strength:

Best engine on the market, Bulletproof Honda reliability, Landrovery exterior.

Weakness:

Unimpressive interior, wimpy Car wheels/tires- give us some SUV/Truck tires please !

The clear winner in the value dept. Very roomy, really quick as a 5-speed, and great gas mileage. Engine is whisper queit and transmission/ clutch are as smooth as silk. Interior is plain by todays standards but if you want a fancy shmancy interior you should be looking at a Acura MDX or Toyota Highlander (open your wallet). Beats the Rav4 in every dept: Faster, roomier, less expensive and just as good in the MPG''s. Sant Fe is more money and slower but has a nicer interior and definately loses points on the gas mileage which supposedely worsens just after break in. The only real contender is the Subaru Forester although it is clearly a car and the CRV is more on the SUV side which I like because it seems more rugged and off-road worthy. The real kicker is Honda''s reliability record. Hyundia''s 10 year 100,000 mi. warranty is impressive but the sad truth is you''ll need to use it along with a lot of other Hyundai owners vying for thosed cherished service apointments. Even worse off would be a KIA Sportage which will probably be broken when you get it the qaulity control is poor. The previous CRV design was nice but just too ugly actually own, with performance and Beauty enhancements however the CRV is at the head of the class for 02, take along look at this one, you''ll like what you see!

Strength:

Improved look, nice ride, cool interior Value for the $$ compared to others in its class...Good gas mileage, Honda quality reliability

Weakness:

No room to budge on price, although I got a few options "thrown in" after haggling w/ Sales team...Maybe bigger tires in the future...& include roof rack(Had to buy it on aftermarket...easy to install, though)..Would prefer to buy an american car, but....

Really a great vehicle...Much bigger than the 98 Rav-4 we had before...Sharp interior(Black w/ Brushed silver package)...Tan is just so-so...Smooth ride...Dash laid out well, good exceleration...More rugged look than 1st gen CR-V''s...Would not of bought 1st version, too boxy and plain...Have yet to test it in Cleveland snow as of yet..Unbelievably roomy for a vehicle this size...especially rear seat/leg room...Overall a great value for the $$$compared to Rav, Liberty, Santa Fe, Escape, etc. Would have looked harder at Saturn''s VUE, but limited availability at this time, no GM discount, either& still not sold on it''s looks yet...except maybe the black which hides panel gaps.
