Strength:
Handles great. Good acceleration and power (220HP). Looks cool.
Weakness:
Poor gas milage (12 MPG city) I bounght my SUV in august of 1998. I bought it from a Nissan dealer ship who bought it from a guy that made 30,000 miles in a year. After which, I moved to Wyoming and also made that same amount. So far the only mechanic problem I had was the pickup coil module breaking down on me in dec 1999. This was not a big problem. The car would not start when hot. So whenever I needed it to start it I had to make sure it was adequately cold. This costed me $250 to repair. So far no other problems. I am totally happy with my jeep which has 106,500 kiles on it. I would reccoment this car to anyone that enjoys powerful acceleration, great off-roading, and just a reliable vehicle. Similar Products Used: This is my first SUV. I had a 1990 Honda Accord before this one. It was a good car but nothing compared to the Jeep. Especially power wise. |

Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.2L V8 w/heavy duty towing package
Strength:
Smooth, comfortable ride; lots of nifty high tech readouts; excellent for driving in foul weather (snow, gullywashers, etc.)as long as you don't have to stop suddenly. Enjoy the nice dark tinted windows.
Weakness:
How about the fact that it has a constant flashing message that your washer fluid is low, but it doesn't tell you it's low on oil...Priorities? Overall, I like the Grand Cherokee, but only for a stylin' car. The only reason I keep it is beacuse it's the last Christmas present my dad bought for my mom before he passed away...She wouldn't drive hardly at all so I was chauffer from the time the car was purchased. Then she passed away so I inherited it...sentimental value. Similar Products Used: 1973 Jeep Grand Wagoneer....Now there's a four-wheel drive vehicle!...good for what it's meant for. |

The looks and the 4.7(V8) engine.
Weakness:
This vehicle is the biggest hunk of junk I have ever seen in my life. It is amazing how many components can fail on a vehicle, hence chrysler quality. Be forwarned, if you think that you will be the lucky one that will get one and have no reliability issue, your wrong. The new design in 99 dramatically made a bad thing worse. Everything from the rear struts to the axle to the cv joints, to the mouldings pealing off. You name it, and chrylser dealers are very unhelpful, even with warranty, they are getting sick of fixing them.. Went through arbitration and chysler came out on top. I had a pile of paper work consisting of 30 visits to various incompetent dealerships. If I can detour anyone from going throught the greaf of purchasing one of these vehicles, great. If no, you can go through the pain of having to deal with something that will be spending more time in the garage waiting to be fixed, or waiting to be taken to the garage to be fixed, then driving it.. Jeep Grand Cherokee = CRAP!! Similar Products Used: Anything would be comparable, could anything would be better. |

i love the feeling of safety and the looks i get when people see what i have done with a yuppie suv. "lift kit, bigger tires, push guard winch etc.it is verry satisfing off road. the 6 cylinder puts out enough power.
Weakness:
after market parts way to expensive. and the steering box allows the tires to turn too far "big safty issue" could cause roll over. and the transmission sucks. the 6 cylinder could use some more power only has 195hp the new nissan frontier 6cil has 220hp.and it does not come in std trans opt. over all i really like my jeep.i just hope that nothing goes wrong with it i would have to take out a lone to get it fixed. be careful it gives you a false cense of security some times you dont realise how bad road conditions are when you are driveing one.with a good set of tires you can go anywhere. and with some engine up grades you can get the same power as the v8 with out the extra v8 weight. and the 6cyl is a lot easier to work on than the v8.i am looking for a new suv unfortunatly with jeeps massive down hill slide another jeep is verry low on my list. if you buy one new it sounds like you should eather lease it until the dealer gets all the bugs out of it or buy one of the mid 90's with them out already. it;s really too bad i love my jeep it makes winter and unfortunat situations so much easier to deal with. daimler chrysler get your head out your butt and listen to us and the 4x4 clubs and magazines. AND FIX THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!! Similar Products Used: 1987 and 1996 dodge dakota 87 chevy truck. |

-Infinity Gold cassette deck is crummy - Sound is no good either- Aftermarket CD player cured problem Excellent vehicle so far. Over 30,000KM with no problems other than the usual A/C tube plugging up (Cleaned out on return visit to dealer for free) and Dimmer Module for dash lights burnt up ($220 but the dealer ate half so we paid $110).. So far, VERY HAPPY customers. Should have stayed with Chrysler anyway. Don't know what made us try GM for the first time but it was a HORRIBLE mistake! Hauls a 27' TrailManor travel trailor up the passes in Colorado with ease. K&N cold air intake really helps gas and power. I bought this SUV for the looks and the Jeep reputation. It has turned out that the Jep Rep is getting worse every day. The problems started the first day. The engine light came on. I took it to the shop and I was told it was the spark plugs. They were loose? In the first year I had the break pads and rotors replaced, the tires were bad (the had buldges in the treads), the sunroof takes about 30 secs to close, the speakers come on and off. The service manager at Adams in Annapolis told me this was all normal. The breaks and rotors were replaced under warranty. The other problems were never fixed. Lots of little inconviences, but all in all, it has been a good car. What else can you expect from a company that doesnt seem to care about the consumer. Good looking SUV, nice electronic features, wonderful bad weather vehicle
Weakness:
Nothing works!! This car has had so many leaks it has ruined my garage floor. Now it needs a new transmission after only 42,000 miles. What next? The best day in my car life will be when I sign off the title. Not only is the car bad -- so is Chrysler/Jeep customer service. Don't you think they would want a satisfied customer? No, they just want the money from your purchase and repairs -- and they know how to get it. I could only recommend this car to an enemy. I think the zone manager came from Eastern Airlines and should go to work for Montgomery Wards. Similar Products Used: Hondas, Mercedes, Acura |

Very Comfortable, Reliable, Great Looking (Groovy Purple), Great Sound System, Handles poor roads and potholes well, doesnt rattle, 5.2L V8 is smooth and fast, It has the coldest AC!
Weakness:
The Dealer! Vehicle is not real smart, has to think before shifting, unless you really hit it (then it screams!). Needs heavier sheet metal. Jeep had more (a lot more) hail damage from a recent storm than the Corolla next to it in the driveway. Dealer replaced Differential at 35,000 miles. Check engine light comes on and off at random. Only on going service issue is that the vehicle will die momentarily if you turn a left corner too fast with less than a quarter tank of gas (tell me the dealers ain't scratching their head about that one. It wanders a little bit on the road, needs a smarter Transmission. Product is sound, but I have reservations about buying another because of the dealer service, and face it, its too proprietary to not go the dealer. They do not want to honor the 5 Star extended warranty. Similar Products Used: Explorer just felt plastic, 4runner didn't have enough power, Durango looks like a mini van on steroids. |
