Strength:

Off-road capability, looks, degree of fun.....This vehicle is both a tool and a toy...There is nothing on the market that can compare in terms of a vehicle that is pure enjoyment. It can climb anything in its path, it is very nimble, it is easy to work on, and it has a staggering amount of aftermarket accessories available.

Weakness:

gas mileage.....but who cares?

The most enjoyable vehicle a person can purchase. I've used this machine for everything from camping to road-tripping to cruising to hard-core wheeling and it has never let me down. I have had zero problems - the inline 6 cylinder is one of the most reliable engines made. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone with no reservations whatsoever.

Strength:

Unmatched off road capability for stock configuration. Easily modified for larger tires, suspension lift, etc. Has huge torque throughout the entire drive range. TONS of 3rd party aftermarket products.

Weakness:

Soft top operation has a learning curve. Not great for gas mileage.

AWESOME. Fun to drive both on road and off road. It is a convertible. It is an American classic in terms of vehicle design.

Similar to Defender 90, but much less expensive, much cheaper to upgrade.

Strength:

Tried and true design - some Jeep 6 cylinder engines are lasting over 250,000 miles without a rebuild. I'm already at 103,000 miles.

Weakness:

May be too utilitarian for some.

Although the Wrangler is a bit utilitarian I can't imagine a more rugged small SUV. With straight live axles front and rear, body on frame construction, a rear axle designed for 1/2 ton trucks (Dana 44), and very few electronic gadgets to cause problems the Wrangler is reliable, low maintainance for a 4 wheel drive, and holds its value very well. It is also more than capable in poor weather or even off-road. If you can do without the luxury, than this is your vehicle.

I don't really think that there is anything in the Wranglers class anymore since Land Rover discontinued the D90 in the US.

Strength:

The Original and still the best general purpose vehicle out on the market. True 4x4 performance can take a component driver anywhere they what to go. For the price there is not anything out there that can or will perform like it.

Weakness:

The only real weakness that I can find on the Wrangler is the issue of security. But that can be remedied by purchasing a Tuffy locking console and storage boxes.

As far as gas mileage is concerned if you drive it at normal speeds and with a little bit of common sense the mileage is not that bad.

As far as I am concerned the only real compatition that the Wrangler(TJ) has is the Defender 90 or the UNIMOG. The price piont that the JEEP is located makes it the best vihicle for the money. Stock for stock the Jeep can out perform the aformentioned vehicles hand down. You can go out there and purchase a JEEP and take to the trail the next day and drive circle around most of the modified truck on the trail. pound for pound and price for price nothing can compare to the JEEP.

Plus there is something to be said about being the oringinal........

The people that should by a JEEP are the only the one that can appreciate the principle thinking that form should always follow function. Because with the JEEP it's form is its function.

Please do not buy a JEEP if you cannot understand that the jeep is made for people that LIVE their lives not the ones that are spectators in life.

Strength:

Goes anywhere, strong engine with lots of torque. Comfortable ride, travelled over 20k miles in the last six months alone! Top comes off and summertime is great!

Weakness:

Kind of loud with the softtop at highway speeds, but hey, it's a convertible! and a JEEP!

I have had no problems with my Jeep, and love it! However I realize it isn't for everyone. I was looking for a vehicle that was going to be reliable, easy to work on (I like doing my own maintenance) and fun to drive. The Jeep TJ fit all of these qualities and more.

People looking for a quiet, "hear a pin drop" in the interior at highway speed should not buy this vehicle. First, it IS a ragtop, therefore much louder on the road than a cadillac. Second, it does have a short wheelbase, and because of this, a stiffer ride than a cadillac. TRY IT BEFORE YOU BUY!

For what the Jeep TJ was designed to do, it does very very well. Designed as a go anywhere vehicle, useful both on road and off, and relatively easy for the weekend mechanic to work on, it does all with aplomb. However, it is NOT built for extreme comfort or extreme speed. If you keep this in mind when buying one, and still decide that this is what you want, then the five stars will explain themselves.

If you buy it expecting a whisper quiet plush ride, you will be disappointed.

Strength:

The TJ is the bench mark of offroad capability and being a 4 wheel drive convertible should say it all. If you need more how about a straight six motor that will take relentless abuse and keeps going.

Weakness:

Factory tire options are weak- don't know anybody that keeps them.

If you want a vehicle that gives you the freedom to go anywhere this is it. I have owned several jeeps and have thoroughly enjoyed everyone. The jeep allows you the freedom to go places others will never see. Would you take a Honda arcoss the back roads of the arizona dessert? The only weakness of the jeep is it isn't a great commuter car, it has a healthy appetite for gas. If you can live with that nothing else compares.

Everything. If there is one thing I dislike about my Jeep, it's that it's too low, but that will be fixed soon!!

Weakness:

I guess gas mileage kinda sucks, but if you didn't know that already something is wrong.

I use my TJ as a daily driver, which probably isn't for everyone. I do use it for off-roading also, which is what it's meant for!!! Don't expect this to be the smoothest most comfy ride ever, it's not. But I sure do love it!!! I guess that's part of the Jeep thing...I understand.

Similar Products Used:

I have owned a couple of S-10 4x4's. My TJ beats them no problem in every category.
