Strength:
Everything
Weakness:
To much power in slick conditions Everyone I talk to who has one of these loves it. The problem with the reviews is if your loyal to Ford your going to rip Chevys and if your loyal to Chevys your going to rip Fords. So I say buy whichever truck best meets your needs. The chevy met mine and I love it. Its a great truck. Similar Products Used: Dodge, Ford. the chevy had more power than both |

Strength:
This truck is everything the brochure says it is. Strong, fast, quiet, smooth, powerful, comfortable, intelligent. I got everything I asked for and more. Gas mileage isn't great, but my experience has been just about exactly what they advertise (15/18). It is the best of the Big 3 and Toyota. Note: if you're looking for a big V8, don't get your hopes up on gas mileage.
Weakness:
Honestly, the only way I found to better my truck (over stock) was to change out the stock Tenneco shocks for Bilsteins (which USED to come standard with the Z71 package). The Tenneco's were too floaty...Bilsteins are just right. I traded in a '94 GMC Sonoma 4 banger beater pickup. It was time to move up. I have had zero let-downs from my Silverado (after 10 months and 13,600+ miles). I feel horribly about the folks that have had bad experiences. Mine has been flawless. Everyone makes good trucks, everyone makes bad trucks. All I can say is...take a good long test drive and be objective about it. You'll have plenty of time to gloat over it AFTER you've decided it's a good one. Similar Products Used: Test drove the other two full-sized trucks (Dodge and Ford) and a Tundra. Tundra turned me off. Too small, not very rugged. Dodge rode HORRIBLY and I've heard too many nightmares about their rear ends. Ford...nice truck. I would say the main reasons for choosing the Chevy over the Ford were: gas mileage, better price (based off comparably equipped models where I was shopping), and appearance. F-150 looks like a Taurus with a bed if you ask me. |

Nothing, THIS IS THE WORST TRUCK ON THE MARKET,THE TRUCK HAS SOME DESIGN
Weakness:
AFTER YOU HAVE DRIVEN THE TRUCK 3000 MILES YOU DEVELOP A KLANK IN THE REAR END (LIKE A U JOINT GOING OUT) THIS WENT ON FOR 6 MONTHS BEFORE A GOOD SERVICE REP TOLD ME ABOUT A NEW GREASE THEY WEAR DEVELOPING. TOOK THE TRUCK IN THEY INSTALLED THE NEW GREASE AND THIS WORKED FOR ABOUT 3000 MILES. I PUT A LOT OF MILES ON A VEHICLE SO I AM REWARDED WITH ABOUT A 6MTH WARRANTY. THE LAST THING WAS THE ABS SYSTEM THAT REPAIR WAS 750.00. THIS IS NOT A DEPENDABLE QUALITY TRUCK . CHEVROLETS ADVERTISING IS HOGWASH. ALL THAT COMPANY CARES FOR IS SATISFYING STOCK HOLDERS NOT THE CONSUMER. Similar Products Used: HAVE NEVER OWNED A CHEV. PURCHASED THIS ONE WITH THE INTENT OF PAYING IT OFF AS A KEEPER. WELL, TO MY DISMAY I WONT BE ABLE TO AFFORD THE UP KEEP ON THIS TRUCK. |

Loved the looks and interior room, then the fun began.
Weakness:
This is the worst vehicle i have ever owned a true lemon or bad design. In shop many times trying to solve clunk in drivetrain, ujoints, shafts etc no help, GM is now fixing by changing transfer case fluid. transmission shifts hard and will not shift at load on hills, revs and revs then slams in gear. Also window regulators break, ABS computer failed Noises in interior many squeks and rattles. This is just a bad product and GM is doing nothing to solve problems. NO I WOULD TELL ANYONE TO AVOID THIS TRUCK UNLESS YOU WANT TO DRIVE A CAVALIER RENT A CAR ALL THE TIME Similar Products Used: Nothing compares with this piece of junk |

4X4 Extend Cab 5.3L V8
Strength:
Good heater in the middle of the summer.
Weakness:
It's a chevy truck. Always had Ford trucks. I never really hated Chevy I just preferred Ford. This damn Silverado was a poor excuse for a vehicle. I would not recommend this truck. I had mine for about 8 months and the constant leaks and squeaks and rattling under the hood just made me feel this was poorly made vehicle. The A/C went out after 5 months, gas mileage is far worse than I expected with the 5.3L. Not much torque for pulling a small boat, it almost redlines before the tranny shifts, its not even close to the 2001 Dodge Ram 4X4 5.7L I purchased after dumping the Silverado. GM really blew it with this one. My 93 Dodge Intrepid runs great with few problems while my sisters 99 Monte Carlo is in the shop more than its at home in the driveway. My sons Neon has never broken down and I know he drives that thing like s**t. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm a Dodge owner from here on out. I recommend any Dodge product and Ford Trucks. Will test drive the Durango for possible gift for my wife. Similar Products Used: Toyota trucks aren't any better. |

Strength:
Seat comfort, trailering stability & pulling power.
Weakness:
Vibrations are unbarable. The truck was purchased new in Novemeber of 1999. Since then, I've been to the dealership 3 times & Firestone 4 times. Finally the dealership let me know that the vibrations are a known problem with entended cab Silverado's & GM is working on it. The vibrations are a result of "flexing of frame". There is NO fix in the immediate future. I would definately NOT recommend the 2000' Chevrolet Silverado. Similar Products Used: I also drove the 3/4 ton Ford. Hind-sight being 20/20, I wish I had purchased the Ford. |

rattles, spueaks, cold start-up ticking everytime. Now theres a clunking noise in the rear-end or driveshaft. Its somewhere back there when i go over a speedbump. I paid about 27,500 for this thing called a chevrolet. This is no chevrolet, sure it has power, but will this truck last 100,000 miles?
