Strength:

Makes all the other rigs run for the hills, especially the Dodges, owned one of those to, I would have felt bad given the thing to someone much less selling it to them. Silverado has all the power and torque you need, and still gets sweet gas mileage. Appeal is at 10 rating.

Weakness:

The only weakness is the fact they need more ground clearance. But if you know how to drive then you don't have to worry about it either.

Excellent truck. Had only one problem with it, and that was my cigarette lighter didn't work. Oh well don't smoke anyways. Other then that, I have 38,000 miles, and the truck hasn't let me down once. It goes through everything, and pulls everything. No other trucks stand in its way.

It doesn't compare to any other truck on the market.

Strength:

Decent power. However, not like I was expecting by reading several reviews. They made this truck sound as fast as a Dodge R/T, but I do not think it is. It pulls well when the A/C is off when tugging my 8K lbs boat up an incline.

Weakness:

Sits very low for a 4x4. Cannot pick my truck out in a parking lot when surrounded by 4x2's! I was going to get a lift but would rather put the money into my next truck. Oil leaks, cheap brittle switches, rattles, subjective power when towing load.

I've given GM several chances on making a good truck, this was their last. Interior has 2 rattles, already. The door plastic resonates into the cab which is horrible. The 3rd door is loose, dealer states "they're all that way". The service dept tried to fix with insulation tape but the resonance is still there.

AC switch broke - in AZ, this was not fun. I had to drive 4 days before they obtained the switch and were able to install it.

I think it started leaking oil at the valve cover - oil hitting the manifold, I smell oil when driving w/windows down or vent on. Again, I'll be going back to the dealer.

Overall I am disappointed. I'll be trading this for something else when I can finacially cover the new truck depreciation.

Strength:

Everything. gas mileage, towing, power, comfort. An awesome truck in every category

Weakness:

the ONLY thing i can find that is close to a problem is that my girlfriend is a little short so it's hard for her to get in. will be easily fixed with addition of nerf bars.

This truck is everything and then some that I could have asked for. Tows my 12 ft. ski boat with no problem for over 600 miles going 70+. The ride is way smoother than I ever expected it to be. The gas mileage is very good for a truck and again, a lot better than I was hoping for. The comfort of the ride is better than any other truck I've been in, including my old S10. Only had one minor bang up so far and luckily it's a nice tall truck so only the front bumper got damaged instead of the grill and hood. Wonderful wonderful truck.

Strength:

Styling, one of the reasons I stuck with GM on another truck.
Not a hard decision based on what else is available....FORD/Dodge.

Weakness:

Engine need higher octane fuel or begins to ping.
Cheap plastic.

I love my new 2500HD. I only have the standard 6.0 but it does the job.
This is my second 2001 GM product. The first was a Silverado 1500 Z-71 etc... Chevrolet actually purchased the vehicle back under Lemon Law after repeated transfer case and brake problems. I'm not suprised that I've read quite a few reviews noting the same problems. Trust me they don't get any better and GM knows this! However, the 2500HD series seems to be doing just fine. I went with GMC this time just for a visual change. The bowtie was beginning to upset me.

Lots of room for people and cargo. Rides good, lots of power, comfortable.

Weakness:

None after 70,000 miles

My wife is the primary driver of this truck, and she loves it. She thinks it's cool to be the only mom around without a mini-van.

NO TORQUE NO TORQUE NO TORQUE NO TORQUE 350 CHEVY HAS MORE TORQUE THAN THIS THING!!!!!!!!!!!AARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!! $34K AAARRGGGHHHH

Where the heck is the low end power on this 6.0? This thing should not be in a tow vehicle. The motor has to wind out to atlease 2200 RPM before I start to feel the torque. I purchased a Travel Trailer the same day I bought the truck, I'm very disappointed in the performance. We've had 2 meetings with the dealer, each one was the same conclusion - trade this 6.0 in for something else with a $4K loss! The truck is fairly sound otherwise. We did develop a small leak in the power steering line but was fixed within 2 days by the dealer. Take my advice, the 6.0 is OK for street vehicles. But, if you're gonna tow, go somewhere else, this thing has ZERO low down torque!

Nice, smooth ride

Weakness:

Has some wind noise in the cab
Occasionally, the ABS engages when brakeing on a rough surface.

Love the truck. It has nice power, lots of cab room and my family and I go everywhere in it. I've had the truck for 18 months and have had zero problems with it. The center console is huge, everything is in reach of the driver and lots of room in the back for my 11 and 7 year olds.

POWER, LOOKS, POWER, RIDE, oh yeah POWER!

Weakness:

Some shakes and rattles, but nothing too bad

A buddy of mine went out and bought this same truck about 8 months ago. After driving around town with him, I was extremely impressed, not only with the looks (6" lift, 33" tires)but with the performance(270HP + exhaust, chip, ect.)
I had to have one. I drove in several other silverados in the past couple of months and fell in love. Get this truck.

I drove my dads 1998 f-150 5.3L V8 4x4 around for a while, and this thing has a lot more guts,a better ride, and gets better gas mileage... but i would never say that to his face. lol
