I am a Dodge man! I love the power and torque of my 5.9 and it has 167,000 miles on it. Starts great on cold mornings. Interior comforts are wonderful, armrest, storage behind seats, center console on roof. Love the styling, best looking truck on the market. Quiet highway ride. Solid truck.
Weakness:
Front pillars sometime block view. Stereo had blown speakers. Remember it has 167,000 miles on it. I would highly recomend any Dodge product. I love the combination of looks and performance. It has a 2 1/2 inch lift with 285/75/R16's on it and it looks mean. Cat back exhaust sounds great. I also put a vinyl be cover and mud flaps on it. I love tinkering with it and added all kinds of accesories and it only looks better. My grandpa and both my uncles own Dodge trucks and they have owned prior makes before this, they are sticking with the Dodge now. Dependable, Great Looks, all around great truck. I hope that the miles will not account for any problems down the road and only time will tell, but of the time that I have owned it, I have been very impressed. Similar Products Used: '87 Dodge D100 w/318 loved it, but had to part, this truck was just to sharp and I got to good of a deal to pass it up. My dad has a '92 Ford F250 351, my truck will out pull it every time. |

Looks-people don't cut in front of you. There's no other truck like it though a lot are copying it.Great amount of aftermarket parts.Power.Braking.Rides like a limo.Room in cab.
Weakness:
The dreaded paint chips.Sound system(to be fair mine was used so maybe it was abused) For the size of truck, mine is great on mileage(i did add cat back flowmasters, which helped)i get 15mpg in town & up to 18mpg on a long haul,my little old toy only got 20mpg.I love all the creature comforts on the inside, along with the very comfortable seats(leather). This truck has power on demand, even in top gear. The anti-lock brakes in the rear have definately helped in the rain. You'll feel safe sitting up off the road.I can carry four adults plus one or two children with ease.Have had no problems with anything-i do believe in keeping well up on maintenance.Couldn't ask for more of a truck-best Christmas present from my wife ever. Awesome interior layout. 8 hour trips, and I can still walk! Great cup holds that fit Canadian beer bottles! Get-the-hell-out-of-my-way style.
Weakness:
Soft paint combined with an even softer transmission. Buyer beware!! Dodge Rams with the AOD trans. are problems! Be prepaired for dealers that pull the old Bill Clinton - deny, deny, deny, deny. I can't understand Chrysler's plan to piss-off future customers with this approach. The AOD transmission is a flawed device. If BMW ever builds a truck, IT IS OVER! It looked sharp for a truck. Had a lot of room in the cab and had good power. A nice riding truck.
Weakness:
No matter what grade of gas it still pinged. Transmission went out at 50000 miles. I enjoyed owning this truck and it never left me stranded. The dealer from where i got it has a very good service dept so that is why i traded it in on a 2001 Dakota Rt. Just hope the trans holds up. Similar Products Used: 1993 Ford 150 pickup. Had transmission problems also |

SLT Laramie QuadCab
Strength:
Plenty of interior room. Very rugged truck (so far). Lots of aftermarket products available. Plenty of towing power. Can see everything on the road because the truck sits so high.
Weakness:
Wife complaining about how high the truck sits. Some paint defects under the driver door (warranty). Had a thumping noise originating from the transmission (warranty repaired). Windshield wiper motor crapped out after about 8 months (warranty repaired). Weak gas mileage (around 12 mpg). If you are looking for a truck with plenty of balls (245 hp)great looks, and muscular mass (345 ft/lbs), then this your baby. With optional features such as: heated power mirrors, automatic dimming rear view mirror, sliding rear window, 16" rims, and an on-board computer system that tells you what the temperature is outside, what direction you are heading, what kind of gas mileage you are getting, how long the engine has been running, and how many miles you have left before you run out of gas, you'll fall in love with this vehicle just as I did. Similar Products Used: 1993 Stepside Silverado V6 4X2; there is no comparison here. The dodge is much stronger and more powerful. |

D-150 LE
Strength:
This is one of the toughest truck models ever made. This truck still runs great after 185,000 miles of hauling dirt and water tanks. The 318 will easily haul anything you should with a half ton pickup, and it's simple interior is perfect for me. I like modern comforts but the new chevy is rediculous!
Weakness:
I can't honestly say I have found anything I didn't like, but I guess the weather seals could seal a little better, but after that many miles who cares. Overall the ram is now and has been since the mid 60's, the better truck. It just took an excellent bodystyle to help people convert. If power and reliability are what you want than your choice is obvious. The new chevy may be quick, but just try to tow with the little racecar and you will be making a trip to the dodge dealer. It is also ugly. Fords have power but they also have a poor record of making poor quality vehicles. If the rust doesn't get the mechanics will! I have heard a few minor problems like paint peeling and pinging, and I understand you don't expect this in a new vehicle, but these are tough trucks, so just tough it out, and I think you will agree, when your truck is the longest lasting on your block! I'll never own anything else, as long as they keep up the great work! Similar Products Used: As far as bodies go and rust, rams are far superior. The smallblock Mopars have been much more reliable than are smallbolck chevys and fords! They can just take the abuse. |

God has blessed me with an awesome truck! It has plenty of power to pull my bass boat. It has 318cu.auto.trans. cab lights, fog lights, 6 way adj.seats, a/c, the roof console with temp, comp, map lights, tilt cruise, engine oil cooler, trans oil cooler, heavy duty alt. plow pack, tow pack, power windows and mirrors, rear slider, drift wood color black siver black, cloth interior, Infinity sound system, CD player, AM FM stereo. Has everything but c.d changer.
Weakness:
Only one thing, the windshield pillar is really thick and sometimes blocks my view to left side. I would highly recommend it. No problems with the paint. Yes when a rock hits my truck it dings it thats what rocks do. If that happens what I do is paint the chip. Has more than enough power and it looks great. I have it dealer serv of oil changes, tune-ups, trans oil and filter and the transfer case and front and rear diff oil. I believe in maintence do right and the truck will last forever. Mine has 66564. I do have the extended warranty and would recommend it because there may be those little problems that could creep up. I also DO NOT BEAT ON MY TRUCK no power breaking neutral drops, no spinning tires ever!! No off-roading if it breaks and if it is not under warranty I pay for it and that would be my fault. My truck gets me back and forth to work and fishin' holes every chance I get. Oh ya, it also has mud flaps the two piece type, a cat back system 3 inch from a flow master duals out the back. Remember maintenance, maintenance, maintenance, rotate tires the whole nine. You do your part and the truck will do its. The cab has a lot of room, I'm 6'3 250lbs and more room than I could ever use. Rides as smooth as a truck should. I highly recommend it go buy one! Similar Products Used: Haven't driven Fords but did have a Chevy C-10 '69 w/327 and it does not compare to my Ram. Works for me so I dont need to go anywhere else. |
