Strength:
Great power off the line, pulls well, handles very well for a 4x4, interior comfort blows away other full size trucks- Dodge has the best exhaust note ive ever heard i ran 2 1/2 in straights off the converter and have countless number of trucklovers mistake them for flowmasters 4.10 gears great for aftermarket tire setup
Weakness:
gas mileage 10 - 14 mpg transmission lugs the truck around in town, transmission downshifts on the slightest touch of the pedal I would recommend this product for the person who is seriously into building an unstoppable 4x4 - from the factory its set up very well for aftermarket products Similar Products Used: ford ranger |

Ram 4x4 Sport Quad Cab SWB
Strength:
Great Styling, roomy, interior layout perfect
Weakness:
weak shocks, 5.2 liter V8 doesn't have the torque to climb hills in a quad cab short bed, works the transmission hard constantly shifting, radio and speakers gave out at 7,000 miles dealership said it was not covered under warranty, slight valve chatter in a low gear acceleration at highway speeds, sucked at pulling my boat seemed to have to run a high rpms to generate enough torque, overall a good truck but underpowered. Except for an underpowered engine I was highly satisfied, enought o purchase a new Dodge product but with a bigger engine. I haven't owned this Dodge long enough to do a fair comparison but so far so good. I recommend purchasing an extended warranty as most mechanical problems started at 35,000 miles. Overall more dependable than previous vehicles but seemed a little buggy. Similar Products Used: 2001 Dodge Ram 4x4 Off Road, Ford F-150 4x4 lemon |

Dodge Ram P/U
Strength:
Looks, smooth drive, good handling
Weakness:
Fuel pump replaced twice, transmission went out at 59,800 miles. The truck has never had anything towed with it. Paid $1,500 to have the transmission rebuilt. Will not buy another Dodge product. Acceptable price. Would be very happy if Dodge would have confessed the transmission problems on other similar trucks. Dodge did not stand behind their product. If you buy a Dodge Ram, get the extended warranty, or be prepared for high maintenance bills. We bought the extended warranty, but our transmission went out just a couple weeks after the extended warranty expired. We live in a flat area in Indiana, no climbing hills or other strain for a transmission. Do not recommend buying a Dodge Ram. Next purchase for me will be another Ford. Similar Products Used: Ford F-150 - no problems. Good, dependable trucks |

Dealer Service Department..Test drove truck for a weekend before I signed papers. Gave list to dealer of things that needed to be looked at. Signed papers with promise they would make it right. Engine noise in cabin, huge air noise making it unable to carry on a conversation during the drive. Good Value Similar Products Used: None |

Ram 1500 Club Cab SB
Strength:
I bought a Ram 1500 Club Cab Short Bed. The color is Med. Bronze Met. w/2 Tone Paint. The Truck had 3,585 miles on it. I really have enjoyed driving this vehicle. It has the 5.2 Engine w/Auto Trans. I have read all of the comments listed here and I have to say that so far I have not experienced any of the problems that I have read about as far as mechanical, noise, or paint issues. I have put an additional 4,000 miles on it since I bought it. The deep throaty sound of the exhaust upon acceleration gives you the feeling of brute hosepower under the hood.
Weakness:
My only regret at this time is that I did not get the Quad Cab with the 4 doors. My daughter and her friends have a hard time getting in and out of the back seat. They have tripped on the front seat sliding rail several times and have almost fallen on thier faces. Paid $18,706 + taxes, title & tags. I should have paid less since it already had some miles on it. I would caution everyone who has access to the internet to go on line and look up all the information they can on the type Ram truck that you are interested in buying. I have since learned that you can find out the actual prices of all the trucks and the options which can help you tremendously in getting the price of the truck down where you want it to be. These prices are actual Dealers Invoice prices on the basic truck and dealers invoice prices on all the options. The dealers do not like it now that you can see the big profits that they are making on these new vehicals. Every dealer is entitled to a profit on thier trucks, but when you see the thousands in profits just on one truck by itself it is amazing. Would I recommend this truck? Yes, if you don't have people getting in and out of the back seat all of the time. If you do then get the Quad Cab. Similar Products Used: I have owned a 83 Ram D250 3/4 ton 318cu.in.4bbl. work truck for 14 years which I sold when I bought this truck. I still own a 87 Ram Le 150 4x4 318cu.in. Auto. & a 76 Ram 4x4 Convertible Truck w/318 cu.in. 3 Speed. Hope my new Ram last as long as each of these trucks. |

Quad Cab Off-Road
Strength:
Was sold on the looks (flame red with Sport and Off-Road package). The off-road package (sits higher, 4.10 gears, skidplates, larger tires and wheels) actually has worthwhile features unlike Chevy and Ford. Good power, decent ride.
Weakness:
Gas mileage a little on the low side. Steering pulls due to road crown more than other makes of trucks. Quad cab doors don't open enough to allow room to get into truck (when front and rear door are open). Got a good deal on truck (stickered over $31K, paid $27K). Really like the looks and styling. Good power from 5.9. A little weary about all of the little problems in a short period of time, very irritating. Similar Products Used: fullsize Chevy Blazer, Toyota Tacoma |

The heated leather seats, and both seats being electric.
Weakness:
The paint!!! This is our second 2001 in the last six months, the first one was bought back due to bad paint, this last one has the same problem! It seems to have something under the primer that is popping out. It also chips very easily due to rocks. The paint is one of the biggest draw backs to both of these pickups. 31,000.00 Similar Products Used: 1997 Dodge Ram 3/4 ton, a few paint problems also |
