Ram 1500 Quad Cab SLT 4x4
Strength:
Strong looks! 20-inch wheels. POWER!
Weakness:
Brakes, Overall Quality, Dealership Service Department, Tranny. This truck was purchased for several reasons. 1. 4-door for my expanding family. 2. Ford wasn't "dealing" on their crew cabs at the time. 3. Previous Dodge owner. Not a satisfied customer! 6800 miles on it so far and I am on my third set of front brake rotors (pulsating), second set of front brake pads (squealing), and third radio. Just recently, the weatherstrip around the passenger door was replaced due to water coming in during rain. I have yet to get better than 11.9 avg MPG (even when I let my wife drive it). Inconsistent shifting from the tranny (sometimes smooth, sometimes hard) - dealer can't duplicate problem...imagine that! What is with the design of the doors?! They wrap up to the roof where there is a channel that collects snow and water so when you open the door, it all comes down on you and into the truck. If someone were to ask me if i would buy it again, I would definitely say NO! I will be going back to Ford very soon! Similar Products Used: 89 Chev 1500, 98 Ram 1500, 01 F-150. Of all the trucks, I wish I would have kept my Ford! |

Great Performance Great Dealer
Weakness:
First Year Motor, But Dodge Very Responsive What a super machine, a very very bad boy. Dodge Has the right idea. Raw Friggin Power with all the creature comforts. I can't say enough about the good folks at Moss Motors where I purchased the vehicle is Very helpful with super service. When I did encounter problems Moss Motors was an advocate for me and insured that everything was resolved to my satisfaction. The Hemi is here stay, If I were Ford, I'd be thinking real hard about some muscle. Why pay more money for anything other than this beast. VAAAAAAROOOOOOOM. So if you want something more than just a pickup, and want to learn to love to drive again this is the truck for you. Similar Products Used: First Pickup in a while. Combination great vehicle, hreat dealer |

318 V8, steering, plenty of leg room, soft ride.
Weakness:
Evaporator Unit I purchased a 4x4 Quad Cab, with standard bed. I have been very satisfied overall with the truck. I have had only one major problem with the truck. The Air Conditioner will not stay charged. I have been told that the evaporator unti maybe defective. I have checked with other truck dealers and the defective evaporator unit seems to be a common problem for the Dodge Truck Line. When my family and I strated looking for a truck we drove one of every make and model that we could. When drove the Dodge Ram everyone of us new that this was the truck that we wanted. The ride was very good, handling was excellent, field of veiw was good, response from the V8-318 was more than enough for our driving and hauling purposes. Other than the evaporator problem I would buy another Dodge Truck tomorrow. |

Unreliable, Service poor, the run around. Dash rattles. Purchased From Moss Motors. Moss Motors Operates several dealerships in the Chattanooga Tenn area. This vehicle was purchased at South Pittsburg Tn. Oil Pump Failure at less than 5000 files. Out of service. Motor ran on multiple occasions by service personnel with zero oil pressure, engine noise documented when operated. Truck dragged thru trees when it broke down. Damaged and Dealership is passing buck. Concealed scratches under polish at first denied then admitted when confronted by witnesses. Still waiting on customer care to call with authorization to get truck repaired. Have filed complaint with local Police department concerning Moss Motors failure to report accident and their attempt to hide damage. Have written 4 letters of complaint and returned the vehicle 3 times. While this vehicle looks sexy, and the engine specs very tempting, the engine is unreliable with major failures being reported to the federal government and all over the web. This motor was rushed into production in 2003 and the results of that mistake are being paid for by honest people across America. Some of the problems can be viewed at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/complain/complaintsearch.cfm and drilling down to the 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 hemi engine. Select summary. Had to have alot of warranty work. And after taking care of it all these years and keeping it looking great the paint is blistering and peeling off and all the dodge dealers says , "its out of warranty" I bought my truck new in 10/95. Over all I really have enjoyed owning the truck. I purchased the extended warranty, which was a good idea. At 74,778 miles the transmission was rebuilt. The 318 is by far the best engine to have for fuel milage and has plenty of pulling power for small tows. |

Weakness:
Stock muffler and headers awfully restrictive, replace is a must, you will unleash tons of power with little invest. Great truck!, good power from the 5.9, remember the 245hp is coming at 4000 rpm, the new hemi's 345hp is at 5200rpm, after headers, cold air intake, power programmer, catback duals, thing is now a monster!,no fear taking on the "hemi" Similar Products Used: GMC Cyclone, Chevy Silverado, Ford F-150 XLT |

Dodge Ram 2500 Hemi
Strength:
Quad Cab design is great.
Weakness:
Very poor reliability, especially electronics and mechanical. Cheap build quality, you can feel the materials are cheaper. Poor fuel economy. It was advertised to be better mileage than the previous 5.9 liter, I averaged about 11 with a mix of town and highway. Never higher than 14 on highway and I am a conservative driver. I get 15 to 16 with a Ford V10. They are cheaper than Ford and Chevy in price, and there is a reason, they are not as good and it shows. I was willing to say the first Ram blowing up was a fluke, but now I am convinced they are low quality vehicles. In December of 2002 I purchased a 2003 Ram 2500 5.7L Hemi. In early January with only 511 miles on it the engine froze up. Dealer admitted the engine was a total loss. Chrysler said they would put a new engine it but I demanded a whole new truck. The dealer stepped up and gave me an identical whole new truck. Over the first 3100 miles on the second truck it died 4 times, most recently twice in one day while in locations where a dead truck is really stressful. Needless to say, my relationship with Dodge is over. I was not impressed that the dealer had to step up instead of Chrysler on the first dead Ram.
