Fuel milage is bad 10 to 11 on the highway not pulling anything. That is also running with out cruse control or I'am sure it would be worse. Big blind spot when looking out the windshield to the left. Looks good, good power, first and last dodge I will ever own... Similar Products Used: Should've stayed with the chevy's better ride and fuel milage.... Will know bettter next time.. |

Looks good and tows good.
Weakness:
So far I've had the rear bumper, all 4 center cap on the wheels, and the grill replaced.Due to pitting, peeling, bubbling of the chrome.Should have bought the sport model"no chrome".Also terrible gas mileage 10 or 11 mpg.Rough ride, and rough idle that dealer claims all 5.9 motors do it.{Hint to Chrysler} Stop building the engines in Mexico. They would probably run better built in the good ol' USA.{Another hint}Quit having the chrome plating done in Taiwan or wherever it is done. Bought the truck to tow a car on a trailer. So far so good.It does that with no reservations.Even through the mountains at 70 mph. Oops !! I mean 55mph that's what I meant to say.And the truck looks great . But thats where the love affair ends. Similar Products Used: Ford F150 4x4 Should have opted for the bigger v8 and stayed with Ford.Better ride ,better mpg ,more comfortable seats, better stereo, better quality.ok ok Better Truck . |

Strength:
Quiet ride, no outside road noise, also truck is still solid,
Weakness:
Replaced so far, 142,000 miles. New Rearend, transfer case, transmission, airconditioning pump, powersteering pump(2), radiator(2) numerous brakes eats brakes every 10,000 miles(front), brakes are too small for size of truck(very Dangerous). Crank Sensor, engine is weak no power never run it in overdrive, runs rough, handles terrible, Very poor quality products from chysler and service, every one of the service trucks has has simular problems. I would never buy a chysler product, trucks look cool but they have a long way to go for quality control. All in all over 10,000. dollars invested in parts and repairs, not including tires and oil. 1 of 15 purchased for service trucks. Follow problems have occured on all trucks. Poor service and quality from Chrysler, shame on them for making such a poor truck. Similar Products Used: Chevy, 150,000 miles no problems, nissan 200,000. miles no problems. |

Ram 1500 ST
Strength:
5.7 Hemi,3.92 gears and well built. Went 15.3 in the 1/4 mile and 9.7 in the 1/8th with my wife driving it at Gateway International on 17"-70 series tires.
Weakness:
5 speed trans is a little sluggish for a truck with this much power. We wanted a truck that was as powerful and fast as our Dakota R/T,but with a higher towing rating. This truck lives up to its expectations and then some! Has a sports car feel to it with the power to match. It is very hard to keep this truck below 80 MPH on the interstate. Similar Products Used: 2002 Dakota R/T 5.9 |

front clearance not quite what it was on my 01 ram. Solid feel with no shortage of power. Night and day compared to my 01 ram1500/360. Brakes and steering very responsive. Interior is pratical and has a luxury feel. Off road package comes with good tires and nice look. Smooth on the highway with better mileage compared to my 01. Strength:
first off, compared to the offerings from ford and GM, it's a good value, as the most towing, torque and hp ratings for a 1/2 pickup, plus its powerful and fast, yet maintains the ability to do "truck" stuff, not just look pretty around town. Comfortable ride, even on large rims and short side wall tires.
Weakness:
transmission could shift firmer, feels like it was designed for soccer moms. Weight. 5300+ lbs wet is heavy (and some wonder why the 285HP 5.3L EXT is quicker, though I beg to differ) for a half ton pick-up, then again there is no plastic bed on this truck... all steel, nice touch. adds to the solid feel Even though the ride is comfy, the shocks could be firmer, again, designed for soccer moms, IMHO 03 1500 QC HEMI,w/SLT package, Leather 5-speed auto, 3.92 limited slip, tow package, sliding rear glass, stainless steps, line-x, , wood, 20" Rim and tire combination, 5-speed Similar Products Used: 97' Ford f-150, 99' F-250, 00' Chevy 1500, Suburban, 99' Dodge Ram 4x4 |

Strength:
Great looks, nice interior, good electronics. Handles pretty well, with very nice sterring. Motors sounds good and 'mouthy'.
Weakness:
I was very disappointed at the 5.7 HEMI engine, it seemed to perform well at test drive. My wife's CHEV Trailblazer EXT with the new CHEV 5.3 v8 smoked my DODGE 5.7 Hemi. I was shocked to say the least. You have to really get down on the motor to run.. It has adequate power, just not what people are being led to believe. Not much better than the old 318. I was not impressed by the braking, poor response at higher speeds. The ABS engages when it should not sometimes, getting your attention the hard way. Disappointed! I was thrilled at the RAM 1500 touted 5.7 HEMI and 20 inch rims. The dodge looked great, seemed to run good. I bought one, after recently having purchased a Chev Trailblazer EXT for my wife. After driving for a while I am satisfied, but not thrilled. Similar Products Used: Chev Trailblazer EXT 5.3 V8 Dodge Ram 1500 V8 318 |

Dodge Ram 1500
Strength:
New 4.7 liter engine performs very well. Improved suspension. Very comfortable interior. Interior storage well thought out.
Weakness:
During the entire 8 years of the '94 Ram the cab was very air tight, I couldn't even close the door without cracking a window sometimes. This new truck isn't that tight, seems the doors aren't quite sealed all that well and tend to rattle a little more than normal when going over railroad tracks or other real rough surfaces. Bought it in June of '02 and it has been a perfect truck so far. The ride is quite a bit different than my '94 Ram, I thought it was too smooth at first. With the 4.7l V8 it has much more low end torque than the old 318 in my previous truck. It is really enjoyable for some of the longer drives. It has 10,000 miles on it so far. I stuck with the standard 17" rims because of the cost of replacing those 20" tires. But for the price I got the custom grill, nerf bars, black leather interior and fog lamp package. All I added was a soft top for the bed. The interior features really smoke any Chevy I've ever seen, I was really considering a GMC Sierra this time but the truck just did not compare favorably at all with the Dodge. DODGE RAM1500 4X4 EXT CAB
Purchased a 2001 Dodge Ram after 30 years of being a loyal Ford owner. After 36000 miles I just had to have the transmission rebuilt to the tune of $2500.00 I would have liked to have had the torque converter replaced with a new one however there is a BACKORDER FOR THIS PART OF OVER 1500!!!!!!!! Tell me Dodge doesn't have a problem with this transmission. So now I can look forward to future repairs to replace the torque converter - if not also again rebuilding the transmission. Don't just "grab life by the horns"...buy a Dodge, bend over, grab your ankles and KISS YOUR WALLET GOODBYE!!! Similar Products Used: FORD S10, FORD 150, FORD EXPLORER |
