Strength:

I purchase the smooth ride suspension. Very nice ride. Lots of cab room, Seated 6 comfortably for lunch trips with coworkers. Was totally satisfied except for the tranmission defect and GM's attitude about it.

Weakness:

GM Knows of transmission defect in GMC Sierra that GM will not correct. Terrible on snow and ice because of light rear end and rear wheel drive.

Buyer beware of transmission problems in the GMC Sierra. My transmission went out with 48,000 miles on the vehicle on vacation in Arizona. Of course the warranty had expired, so it cost me $2100. I asked the GM dealer on the border of AZ & CA why it would go out with only 48,000 miles when I dont pull trailers. He said he had 150 transmissions on the back lot, that GM knows their transmissions have a problem, but choose not to fix it. This was my 4th new pickup from GM, but my last. I also had a new 99 GMC Sierra that had the trans worked on at 10,000 miles.

Strength:

excellent truck overall.10,000 miles,no knocks, oil consumption or other problems alot of previous year ownres complain of.

Weakness:

ELECTRONIC THROTTLE!If I buy a 285 horsepower,3.73 posi,I want it perform like it should.Trucks are mad for pulling, not limiting it to only a 140 pounds of torque below 2000rpm!

excellent looking truck with fog lamps in spoiler.Bucket seats, console and Bose stero rock.5.3 engine with 3.73 posi runs great above 2000 rpm.NO TORQUE from a dead stop. This will answer so many peoples reason why they have no torque.I had my truck in shop numerous times only to find out from GM engineer why these motors do not have torque from a dead stop.READY!Electronic throttle instead of throttle cable, which is tied in directly toPower train control module.Explanition is that even though you press the throttle all the to the floor, you DO NOT get a full throttle openig untill after 2000 rpm.Computer retards timing and throttle to 140 foot pounds of torque untill 2000 rpm.GM EXPLAATION FOR DOING THIS IS TO KEEP ENGINE DAMAGE DOWN SINCE THIS IS WHEN MOST ENGINE DAMAGE OCCURS AT FULL THROTTLE TAKE OFFS.I personally observed this on onboard dyno with mechanic. So don't think that just because you have 285 horsepower and 3.73 gears it going to take like should.

Good Looks, Great ride& handling, good towing. Great Stereo Sound. Great power!

Weakness:

Terrible A/C Does not get cold. Recharge did nothing. Mileage not too good but it's a 4X4 so I expected that. Themo never worked right! Trans klunks on occassion but no problems.

Overall, a pretty good truck. I enjoy driving it for the most part.

Strength:

Strong engine - when fully loaded or towing, still strong

Weakness:

Everything but the engine in general. Oh wait - they do offer a nice selection of colors for their trucks.

Engine is great - the rest of the truck just can not keep up with it. Currently have 56,000 miles on it. Rear end is about ready to blow out. Suspension has been sloppy since day one. Transmission started leaking at 50,000. Drivers side door handle broke before the truck hit 30,000. Key doesn't worked in passenger side door lock. Cables for tailgate have broken twice. Compressor for air conditioner is "sqeaking". GMC is unwilling to back their product and make it difficult to buy replacement parts. Interior - fold down arm rest to low, center console rattles, cup holder for passenger aweful - about 1.5 inches deep - doesnt even hold a can when turning the corner, back bench hard to release to fold down, road noise is aweful inside cab - always looking to see if a window is open, have even checked all the seals.

Very comfortable & quiet. Smooth ride on everything except concrete highways where the suspension (rear) will bounce you to death. Dealer says springs were designed that way -- no way to fix problem. Dlr says added weight in box may help. So far added weight makes no difference.

power, handling and ability to get anywere anytime. Feels very solid compared to other brand trucks.

Weakness:

nothing!

love this truck now. When I bought it, it had a defective transfer case that made it clunk when it shifted. Now it's fine. This truck is smooth and powerful. I wouldn't drive anything but A GMC truck. There is a reason you don't see many GMC trucks for sale, fact is everyone that owns one loves it.
