Tacoma
Strength:
looks good, goes well in snow or off-road, as long as you manually shift the automatic transmission
Weakness:
no power, transmission noise and jolts, poor gas milage, bench seats are a nightmare, cd player defect, driver door rattles, overdrive is useless- you can not drive in overdrive except down hill, jumps in and out of gears Do yourself a favor and do not purchase a 4cyl. automatic ex. cab Tacoma. I have owned 6 Toyota's, I was a die hard fan until I tried to save some money on the 4cly. model. Similar Products Used: most recently a '92 4cyl. manuel ex. cab Tacoma |

Tacoma 2wd regular cab
Strength:
It is an all around good truck and it is a blast to drive. It handles really well and the interior is very good looking and roomy. The truck is actually a pretty fast truck considering that I beat a 4X4 Ford ranger 6 cylinder at a race. The new refined look of the front end makes it look more rugged than the previous years and it also as new orange lights in the dash and stereo. I love my truck and plan to modify it soon. So if you are looking for a low cost truck that is a blast to drive and looks really good too than the Tacoma is the way to go!!!
Weakness:
I have found that in my truck (which is automatic) the first gear hits pretty well and gets you going right off the line but right as you feel it go to second gear it slows down dramatically. That is the only weakness I found I recomend this truck to first time buyers because it is pretty fast fun and good looking. Not to mention inexpensive. One more thing, if you have the money I reccomend that you move up to an extended cab model with the TRD package which comes equipped with a 6 cylinder 190 hp engine that is fast Similar Products Used: None |

sr5 extended cab
Strength:
Comfortable on road trips with 27-32 mpg.
Weakness:
Transmission vibration very bad in second gear and minor vibration in transmission at 70 mph. Poor in city mileage. Dealer said that the sr5 had inherent tranny problems for the 1999 year and would replace it if it became defective. It seems to be more of a problem than they will admit to. There is a good power train warranty, but I would like it fixed now before it goes bad. Has anyone else noticed this problem? Similar Products Used: none. |

SR5 4X4
Strength:
Solid ride-no rattles or squeeks
Weakness:
Sunroof shade costs $400 to replace! Good grief! I like the tacoma because it feels solid, mile after mile. You can take a toyota that is 5, 6, 7, years old and it still feels better then a brand new truck in another brand. Similar Products Used: Ranger, Jeep TJ...the toyota is much more solid feeling |

Strength:
Awsome looks! I have 2.7ltr 4cyl, 5 speed maunal, ext. cab 4x4 I bought it when 2000's just came out on the market. The 4cyl has excellent gas mileage standards. It has "enough" room for everyday stuff in the ext. cab. 5 speed manual is the way to go! I have 32000 miles on the truck in one year and keeping maintenance a priority. Toyota's are built to last.
Weakness:
The radio is weak (including speakers), after a days worth of driving the seats aren't your friend. The sliding rear window is hard to open and close while u are driving. I would definately recommend this truck for anyone. It is very versital and a fun vehicle to drive. The 4x4 will take u up things u couldn't even imagine trucks could go up. Bacically u get what u pay for, and it will last u a very long time until u need another pickup truck. The trucks look very good with the front windows tinted the same tint as the back windows. Putting in a stero would be worth it too. I'm seriously considering purchasing a 2001 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab with the 4cyl engine in it becuase I do need more room ;) Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Power(sure would like to try the supercharger though), 4WD goes through anything I've put it through so far, Lots of standard options, Rear seats are large & roomy with plenty of leg room with front seats pushed back.
Weakness:
Can't get a 5 speed! Clock is obscured. I would recommend it. It has good power and handling. I needed the rear seating and it is suprisingly large. I think it has more room inside the back than the Tundra I took out. This is my 3rd Toyota truck, I had a '91 and a '93 and this is the best model by far. I haven't had a chance to give it a good run off road yet but from what I've gone through so far I'm impressed. 4x4 SR5 Auto 3.4L
Strength:
Good Power, Very Reliable, Great performance in 4WD.
Weakness:
Plain interior, very truckish, seats not very comfortable. Small Xtra cab, Don't expect people to be happy about sitting in the back of the X-cab. More of a storage space than extra seating. First off I love this truck, I had an early problem with my airbag light coming on but nothing after that. I have 45,000 miles and other than basic routine maintenace that I do myself, there have been no problems. I love the 100,000 mile warrantee. What other truck will give you that! Even if I sell it will transfer to the new owner. Similar Products Used: None |

I love my truck. I paid 16000 total after tax and title, Which I think is a good deal.I would recommend this truck to anybody. Similar Products Used: I had an 86 toyota 4x4 and it was a very good truck, but it did not have near the power of my 99. |

Strength:
powerful for a v6 good looking!! my last one had 94k with not one problem
Weakness:
kind of small on the in side-sound needs a upgrade bad-rides a little bumpy this is my second toyota and I must say they are just hard to beat if your looking to keep your truck for a long time(5-10).My last one had 94K and I did nothing to it other than tires and brakes.I had a 1993 that was in good shape with 94K on it and after all said and done I got a $11,200.00 trade on a 25,448.00 tacoma 2000.I picked up right off the truck with .6 miles on it and fully loaded to the gills.I would sugest this truck to any one wanting 20-23 mpg with a v6 in a small truck. Similar Products Used: dakota-its small on the inside and doesn't have a opt.v8 but thats the only thing.toyota quality is unmatched so dont be fooled by the bell&wisles |
