2-2000 Infinity Perfect 10.1
Strength:
These subs hit harder and lower than any sub I have ever heard and they won't distort even when they are getting slammed with power. These subs hit louder than most 12" subs, and except for eclipse and alumapro hit louder than ever 10" on the market.
Weakness:
The tinsel leads in these subs will break very easily at the binding posts, if you have a powerful amp you have to be careful or you will break the leads. I was running the two infinity perfect 10.1's off of an mtx 2300x amp which was suppling the subs with more than enough power. When I first got them I was amazed at the quality and performance it was like nothing I've heard before. People were always amazed when I told them it was only two 10's. But after 3 months of owning them one of the subs stoped playing and I was shocked. I took it out of it's q logic box and couldn't tell that anything was wrong with it. Then I saw that one of the tinsel leads hooked to the binding post was hanging down, it was broken off it was just angled about an inch from where it should of been. This caused the sub not to play. So I sent it back and crutchfield sent me a brand new sub. About 3 months after that the other sub (the other one I originally owned) did the exact same thing. So I sent that one back. Then last week both 10's broke at the same time, I couldn't take it anymore so I sent both back and asked for credit to buy a different product. Please if anyone plans on buying these subs just be careful not to give them to much power, after all there rms rating is only 350 watts. Take your pick. The Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1 is hands down, one of the best subs on the market based on a price to performance ratio. I mean don't get me wrong yes you can buy a better sub for 1000$ but why, I can think of at least 4 more ways to spend 1000$ more efficiently. Its loud and accurate. You need about 1000 clean watts to distort the thing. The cone is a work of art. Sometimes I get up at night and open my trunk just to look at it. I've been through many subs and boxes trying to find the right setup and this one is by far the best. If you need an excuse to drop 2 to 300 bucks on a speaker this would be your best bet.
Weakness:
Not a weakness persay. But you better have a grille on that thing before you get it out of the box because one false move and you got a dent. Its dam* near a greek tragedy. It dosent affect the sound quality, but for cosmetics.... Crying shame. The Perfect caught my eye the first time I got Crutchfield. Peak watts. Aluminum Cone. Spl. gold plated binding posts. The box it came in weighed 20lbs and it was only the speaker and the foam peanuts. Now I dont have the weight of the magnet itself but im sure its dam* near 10 lbs (subtracting basket and cone and voice coil weight)What ever it is the people at infinty got the name right at least. Do youself and your neighbors a favor buy this masterpiece of a speaker and the world will be a better place for all. Similar Products Used: Kicker Competetion, JL W3, Optimus, Pyle, Cerwin Vega. It dosent compare its in its own class it can perform in the upper ranks with subs from Alumapro or Eclipse. |

SPL, Peak Power, RMS, Freq. Response/range.....
Weakness:
Can't find any I paid $300 for a single and a sealed box with some polyfill from Crutchfield. Let me just say that anybody who says these subs aren't any good should not be allowed to express their opinion, seeing as it is groundless and clearly unexpierenced. This sub is without question the best and hardest hitting sub around...but excluding the Orions, which are in a completely different price range. I'm powering this sub with a 1400 Watt x4 RMS amp using chanels 3-4 in bridged mode. So, the sub is actually getting around 650 watts RMS, and about 1700 RMS. Infinity says not to use this amount of power, but that's because they offer a 3 year warranty and dont want a bunch of idiots with small amps clipping the signal down to a bunch of noise. I'd reccomend this sub for anyone who has a little bit of extra money to spend, but who wants a huge amount of thump from a single sub. Similar Products Used: Dual Audiobahn 12's in a bandpass |

SQ is out-of-this-world
Weakness:
none To the morons saying that $1000 subs kick the Perfect 12.1's ass, wtf do I care? $1000 is about what I spent on my WHOLE SYSTEM. For under $300, this is the best sub that you can buy today. If you disbelieve go listen to it. I have mine in a sealed box and the bass is tight and accurate all the way down to 18hz. If you want to "thump" than buy 2 15's and stick 'em in a ported or bandpass box and flow thousands of watts into it. If you want something that actually sounds good, not just good, but REALLY REALLY good than get a Perfect 12.1, sealed box. You won't regret it. Similar Products Used: RF, similiar "SPL" subs...they sound anywhere from halfway-decent to crap. None compare to the Perfect though. |

Strength:
Do you like bass?! Well these things deliver with full force... the lowest fq responce I have seen since the Eclipse's and for almost half the price!
Weakness:
The biggest weakness I found in these speakers is the loss of hearing you suffer... seriously I broke all the windows in my car, and other cars and lost a few random car parts to these things!.... and one more weakness would be the amount of $ it takes to get them running that good, they should get around 500watts RMS or a little more. Like I said these are the speakers to get if your a bass fanatic, but it will take some work to get them up and running. Infinity is off on there specs about the RMS wattage and the recomended air for the subs... I did all the research to find what will work best, (if you dont know all these compicated speaker terms just follow my recomendation and ignore the confusing stuff) the best QTS for a speaker in a sealed box is .707 if you run that into an infinty 12.1 you need 2.2 cu feet of air per speaker, this will give you almost 4X the performance of 1 cu foot like infinity said to use, but if you dont have to much space you can use 1.5 feet of air for a QTS of .80 this is also very good, Similar Products Used: The older version of the SB-107 subs from lanzar, better spls but not nearly as low on the bass! |

accurate sound and response. i'm not talking about twelves either. the tens alone sounded as loud as a pair of 15in. MTX's i once had
Weakness:
these subs require alot of power which = alot of money to set your system (but it is money well spent). i would recommend these to anyone that is not to tight with thier wallet. i have a pair of soundstream exacts i bought just before the perfects came out. i love my soundstreams but i wish i would have waited a little longer for the prefects to come. however for now i am satisfied, because like most people i have other expenses. i fell in love with the perfects when i did an install for a friend in a 99GT mustang. i installed two perfect 10s in a enclosure i built to fit in his car but with minimal cubic inches allowed. they hooked up to a kenwood amp with an output of (300x1 @ 4ohms rms not stable at 2 ohms bridged). i told him the amp was not enough to operate safely with two subs paralelled but he insisted because he was being a little tight with his wallet. i hooked everything up and got it running. it sounded so good and was so loud it put MTX in the generic category. i was so impressed that i decided when my subs die i'm getting some perfects. i don't mean to knock MTX because it is a great line of products for people with a tight budget. i used to run MTX myself, a pair of 10s,and two different pairs of 15s. my best pair was my thundercast 15s 1000 watt peak power handling. the sad thing is a pair of perfect 10s are just as loud. as for my freinds system with his amp running unstable he fried it, good thing for warranties. i have recommened a bigger amp as before but he just got another and now plays his system at lower levels. sad because he can't do what his subs were meant to do, but he's happy. my system consists of two soundstream exact 12s, 4 6.2 infinity kappa coaxials, one percision power 1800 (400x1 & 4ohms and doubles its output at 2ohms), one kenwood 4 channel x40 watts rms, one soundstream 2or3 way crossover, and one kenwood head unit. as for those that have thier differences with perfect subs well...... i'm sorry .....but i'm gonna say i think the installer didn't know what he or she was doing. any time you decide to build a system, i've always taken it as a rule of thumb to use rms ratings between products to make sure they are equally matched in power. example i want to buy a perfect 10 sub, rated power "RMS" 350watts. therfore i should purchase an amplifier with a similiar rating, that is saying you can achieve the output of the amp mono or bridged(using two channels for one speaker for higher power) 300-400watts "RMS" output. you should also think of wiether or not you will be running two subs, or even three. in which you will need to know if the amp will be stable to run two subs. say you want to run two subs rms power handling 100watts each. the amplifier you need will have to be rated 2x100 rms @ 4ohms or 200x1 @ 2ohms. ohms being the stability of the amplifier. an amplifier with 2 channels can hook up two speakers, one speaker per channel. an amplifier with one channel will need to have both speakers hooked up to one channel, therfore cutting the ohms or stability of the amp in half. some amps are stable to 2ohms stereo, this does not mean they are stable 2ohms bridged. when you cut the ohms or the stability of an amplifier you are pulling more power from it. think of a speaker as piece of pipe, you can only flow so much water(power) through it. when you have two pieces of pipe(speakers), you flow twice as much water(power). an amplifiers internals are designed to handle only so much flow(power). so when you hook up to many pieces of pipe(speakers), you force the amp to flow more power than it is capable of handling and you make it run unstable which results in meltdown of internals. most amps are not capable of running less than 4ohms bridged or 2ohms stereo. but if you are willing to shell out some greenbacks there are many amps that will run stable 1ohm 1/2ohm and even 1/4ohm stable. speakers have different ohm ratings, you need to know what your speaker(s) are rated. most are rated 4ohms, but there many manufactures who build 2,6,and8ohm. also know if your speaker(s) are dual voice coil, dual voice is like having 2 speakers. if you have 2 4ohm subs, you caculate your ohms for the amplifier you will need by taking the ohm rating of one sub and dividing it by however many speakers you plan to hook up to the amplifier (equation 4ohms/2speakers=2ohms). however if you have two dual voice coils subs, each voice coil is rated 4ohms you caculate 4ohms /4voice coils=1ohm. if you have 2 6ohm subs you divide 6ohms/2speakers=3ohms. with higher ohm rated speakers you will be able to run more on one channel because it keeps a higher stability for the amp. the very best thing to do is to take the subs you purchase and use a digital multi meter and check the exact resistance(ohms) of the voice coils, and use that number (example 3.46) to determine the exact amount of flow your amp will see. use exact calculatons especially if you plan to run 3 or more subs per channel. unless you are running a soundstream trantula 2000watts RMS @ 4ohms. that amplifier automatically determines the ohms every time it starts up and reconfigures internally to run stable no matter how many speakers you hook up. last i checked it was $2000.00+. who ever has one i'm jealous. i hope this helps any of you who are just learning about the wonderful world of caraudio. i'm 26 and i've been into it since i was 15. most of it self taught with alot of reading, but also alot of hard lessons. PLAY IT LOUD! Similar Products Used: soundstream exact |

Strength:
good sound quality, hits really hard
Weakness:
hits super hard on bass test cd's...but for some reason it doesnt hit quite as hard as my old subs on normal music. Probably just something i screwed up on. So loud! I have it hooked up to a small amp (soundstream lil' wonder) and it still shakes my SUV so hard i think its gonna fall apart. My friend has 2 10" subs with a more powerfull amp in his little integra, and my one 10" perfect and my weaker amp still hits harder than his. Similar Products Used: i used to own 2 10" infinity reference subs. I hooked those boys up in parallel and turned the gain on my amp up to 75%. This one 10" perfect hits much harder than the other 2 combined, and i only run my amp at 50% |
