Strength:

none that I can see. a $350 retail subwoofer should not break in 15 minutes, even at max power (which it was not at).

Weakness:

The speaker is no good. Who cares if it sounds AWESOME for 15 minutes and then breaks.

I installed my first one of these a few weeks ago. I ran a jl audio 500/1 into it. Didn''t clip it, yet after 30 minutes, the spider and cone separated! Infinity apologized and sent me a new one which I recieved today. I was VERY CAREFUL with this one and still the spider and cone separated again, this time after 15 minutes. I''m getting my money back and going with an eclipse! The SQ is good on this sub but they are poorly constructed. I also noticed that people that bought this woofer didn''t have this problem unless they bought it after october 2001. Maybe something changed in the factory?

No distortion whatsoever....To the last review who said they putting 800 watts into 1 and thought they were supposed to handle 1000, not true, the rms on these subs is 350, that number is a little low however, they can handle a little more, I am putting 400 into them from a punch 800 amp. Try not pumping so many watts into them and then see how they sound.

Very loud, accurate subs. I have 2 in a 1.66 sealed box. Best set of 2 12s in the town i live in.

Strength:

Great overall sound, not to loud, plays very accurate bass

Weakness:

Will not play very loud, does not thump your brain (if thats what you are looking for)

Well, after reading lots of reviews on this site and others, i thought that this sub was going to be really great. It does have a nice accurate sound. However, it is not as loud as it says it is. There is no way it can handle 1000 watts as it is advertised. I have a Mtx Pro 300X2 Amp that puts out max 800 watts briged. It is in a custom 1.0 cubic sealed box. I cant turn it all the way up without the sub distorting. However it has gotten louder over the months of use. This is definetly the sub if you are just looking for a nice overall sound. This is NOT the sub for you if you are wanting a really loud pounding sub. I have the Mtx Tri Box that has 3 12-ohm 10'' subs, and that really thumps. I dont even have to put more than 200 watts into that to make it move your insides. But then again, i have a 97 Acura TL and i dont want everything to vibrate and come loose. I am satisfied with it, but next sub i buy, i think i will try the JL audio 12w6 or 12w7 sub. As for the people that paid high $$, definetly not worth that price (i.e. $360, $180). I have had no problems with it so far. I heard that if the box was 1.5 cubic feet, that it would hit harder. has anyone tried that? koreanpersuasio@hotmail.com

Strength:

Excellent subwoofer for a professional "sound quality" system.

Weakness:

Will not tolerate any abuse, requires a seperate midbass speaker to mix in with the mids and tweets.

I would only reccomend this sub to people who are planing to compete in sound quality compititions and are not planning to use this sub on a daily basis. The Infinity perfect twelve is a clean smooth subwoofer but has drawbacks. First off, this sub is not intended to be played at high volume, the glue holding voice coil assembly to the spider is far too brittle and will break apart easily if abused also the voice coil is highly sensitive to amplifier clipping and will overheat quickly under stress(alot faster than most other brands of subs) I also found that the midbass was lacking from the infinitys, when playing rock and alternative It always seemed like something was missing(I tried 2 different sealed enclosures, 1.25 and 1.6cft and 2 different amps, concept cc2002 and concept ccd1200, none of this helped). I was impressed at the infinitys low frequency responce, I thought it was very smooth and rich sounding in the lower octaves(20 to 60) but unresposive and quiet in the higher octaves(60 to 100)so a strong set of midbass speakers are a must with these subs.

plays deep bass and shakes the hell out of your car

Weakness:

nothing really

These are the best subs i''ve ever listened to even with weak power. I had an Alpine V12 mrv-f303 running it at 120Watt and it still kicked ass. I have 1 12" dvc running in a supra and it makes my lights go crazy every time hard bass hits, and i even have a fosgate 1 farad cap running.

Strength:

Great volume, awesome clarity, etc.

Weakness:

Blow easily.

Well, I''ve been through maybe 5 of these subs. We purchased 2 from Crutchfield so we paid the extra but gained both the tech support and the free boxes (w/ warranty). Now, these subs are fairly loud. I''ve had my fair share of experience...among the list are... 1. 1 Orion HCCA 15d. 2. 1 Orion HCCA 12d. 3. 2 Jl Audio 12w0s. 4. 2 Rockford Fosgate Punches. 5. 2 Audiobahn AW1200s. All of the preceeding have since either blown up or been sold. Among the amplfiers, I have used.. 1. Audiobahn A2800E 2. Profile 240(?) SX. 3. Planet Audio Vector D. 4. Profile 1200sx. I realize that the views on these subs and amps are controversial, but that''s just to show you that i''ve had experience in several fields with 5 different vehicles.. 1. 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2. 96 Dodge Avenger 3. 00 Celica GTS 4. 00 Mustang GT 5. 96 Mercury Sable LS So, now that we have that out of the way, I can give you a comparison. THe Infinitys measure up. They''re not quite as loud as the 15d. (Keep in mind, all of this equipment was run at spec in the correct enclosures and power specifications). The Infinitys are, however, louder than the 12d. They beat the JLs hands down, and the Audiobahns are slightly louder than the JLS, but not as clear. SO I hope, after all of that, it gives you an idea of what you''ll be hearing. Verdict: Great subs, lack some on reliability, worth the money.

Strength:

Tight, clean, uncolored bass. Hits extremely low and its sensitivity is something you cant pass up. (96 db @ 1 watt)makes low powered amps sound like champs. Best sound quality for the price GUARENTEED!!!!!!!!!

Weakness:

only weakness is the glue connecting the voice-coil to the spider. Oh yeah they are very high on the list of thieves as mine was stolen.

I have just recently acquired my thid prefect. The first was stolen and the second encountered that notorious "weak glue." The cool thing was that Infinity replaced my perfect in 6 days of a simple fax and they didnt even want the one that blew. After all the good reviews I have read I am finally able to say that these subs are extremely impressive! I hit 131 db with the first one- the thing is, it was only getting 200 weak watts out of a Legacy amp. I am now running it with a JBL BP1200.1 and it sounds absolutely remarkable. I also experienced that knocking sound when i opened my trunk with the first one. I believe it was caused by either lack of power or the box wasnt 100% sealed.

Yup...the same thing happend to me, the glue that held the cone and the spider together separated, only a little piece was holding them together. I got a JBL Powervalve 1200.1bp amp goin to just one right now, cash got low. It was hittin hard as fuuu...but then it blew, had the warranty tho so i sent it back and got the new one a week later. Only problem with warranties is you gotta pay anywhere from $20-30 to get it there out your pocket. Is it just me or when you pop your trunk and crank this thing up staring at it, does it make some type of "knocking" sound to ya? Or do i just need to adjust my knobs? Sounds junky when I pop the trunk and show it off cause all you hear is this loud "knocking" ish goin on, only when heard with the trunk up tho, not in the car, somebody help me out with that.

The sound quality is the best thing going for this sub, it hits so smooth. It does get pretty loud, I highly doubt that this can beat some competion stuff.

Weakness:

personaly i dont like the looks, i think it looks, well kinda wussy, they blow way the hell to easily, 1400 watt max maybe pyramid watts!

i have a perfect 12" in a 1.25 sealed enclosure. its running off a rockford 360a2 amp tested at 578 watts. i also have 4 guage wiring and a 1 farad cap. The first 12" blew in 9 days with the amp set at about 350 watts. To get it to sound good i had to turn the cd palyer up to 30 out of 50 with the bass boost on, and the bass settings at +2, but again it was shot in 9 days, the cone was seperated from the spider, the glue holding the cones is very weak, careful with them. They do sound very clean at all frequencies, and my new one has been working great, even though i havent really pushed it fear of blowing it. They do sound really deep and low, but the reliability of these leaves something to be desired, infinity should have put more time into make a tough durable product instead of making it pretty. and i dont need anyone telling me to break this in, becuase i sub this expensive with its specs, 350 watts should be breaking this sub in. its a fair deal only if you get a warranty with it.
