hits hard deep and clear

Weakness:

have to break it in for a month

when i first started out looking at a subwoofer i decided i was goin to get a good 1 to have the best damn sub i school so i bought a 12 perfect and a 500 watt rf amp and had the local audio store install it. i listend to it for about 2 weeks without turning the gains or volume up too loud and one day i was like this is pissin me off i have to wait a month for this to break in to hell with that i though and i turned the gains all the way up and the volume put in some good beats and it hit harder than ne thing ive ever heard so me and some friends drove around with my car rattling so bad i thought it would fall apart but by the end of the night with 2 or 3 hours of listening and fellin like my ears were goin to bleed i started to smell a burning type smell so i was sh*t is blow and sure enough i get out open the trunk and the cone is stuck all the way out and wont go back in so i took it out and i had burned the voice coil half way off. but i still was luckey enough to have my 3 year warrenty to send it in. i know it sounds like a stupid thing to do but it hit so hard i could care less so hopefuly my new sub will hit just as hard after i break it in for at least a month and a half

Strength:

Nice clean accurate bass that hits hard!

Weakness:

Subs seem to blow easily...after reading the reviews i can see im not alone. I still stand beside them they were great as long as they lasted. I do fell that Infinity has poor customer service. When u call them u dont even get to speak with a person about your problem, and I was never contacted after writing a letter to them. And worst of all, having to wait about 2 months just to get new subs because of a factory defect is just plain redicilous!!!

I installed two of these subs in a 1.0cf sealed box. It sounded great for the first few weeks as i broke them in. The third week i heard a poping noise from them and later they quit working all together. Contacted infinity writing them a letter explaining what happend. Turns out the glue that connects the cone to the spider and voice coil busted. They said they would send me new ones, but it turns out they are on backorder. ETA 11/25/01...about one month from now!

LOUDDDDDDD!!!!!!!! SQ is Perfect, huge magnet, aluminum cone, kickass output with minimum wattage, small enclosure, As smooth as you can get.

Weakness:

None that I know of yet, if I find one I will be back thrashing it thats all

Well I had read every single review on every single sub before I made my decision, well practically. I was either going to put a pair of mediocre subs in my car(89 cutlass ciera), or a single high end sub. I have a rockford 360a2( actaully rated at 580 watts on birth certificate. Then i decided i wanted to save space. Jl seemed like they had good reviews, and were in my price range, mtx 8000''s are too expensive for their performance. I thought about the 12L7 but being square and having to find a box, plus people seemed to have problems with them subs way more thatn the perfects. So it was down to the infinity and the JL''s. I went and listened to them at a dealership. The jl''s were good, but they werent as loud as the perfect, their Sq wasnt as good, and they didnt seem to have the same kick on the full range of frequencies. So i had my stuff professionally installed, Rockford 360a2, Perfect 12.1 in a sealed 1.25 q logic enclosure, 1 farad rockford cap, and 4 guage rockford wiring. This thing hits low as hell, deeper than any sub made, and kiks real hard. The sound is exremely rich and it sounds like i have 3 subs in my car. I only paid 165 with shipping off ebay, and would do it over and over again. This is a perfect subwoofer, for me at least. I only have my amp at half way, but i dont think i an turn it louder, not because the sub couldnt handle it, but I couldnt. Get it you will not be dissappionted

everything I can think of.

I bought two of these so called "Perfects" and I was extremely disappointed. I had them both wired at 2 ohms to a JBL BP1200.1 and one of the subs completely quit working after 10 minutes. To make it even worse 15 minutes after the first sub blew I began to smell something burning. I started to unscrew the sub from the box and before I had the last screw out the smell of the smoke got much stronger. As soon as the sub was removed from the enclosure smoke rushed out of the box.I looked at the bottom of the "Perfect" and noticed that almost the entire voice coil was roached along with the spider. I just wish I had the same luck with these subs as most of you guys did. Hopefully Infinity will supply me with a new set, and this time, last longer than 25 minutes.

Clear sound, good price for the quality, hits incredibly hard.

Weakness:

None that I''ve spotted yet.

What canI say that hasn''t already been said? This is a fantastic sub. Sure it costs more than one you''d buy at say Best Buy or Circuit City, but you don''t get the quality from those cheaper subs. People have mentioned putting this in a sealed box; all I can say about that is don''t! I built two boxes to spec from the details that came with the sub. The first was a Bandpass box with the proper volume in both chambers and ported correctly. The second was a sealed box also with the proper volume for the sub. The bandpass box was amazing it hit incredibly hard and sounded incredibly clear. Not that sloppy crap you hear from cars rattling their way down the road. But because the bandpass box was so large and heavy and I tend to have to remove it at least once per week when I goto the track I decided I''d build a sealed box with the leftover MDF since it would be much smaller and lighter. Well I built it made sure it was sealed properly and put the sub in. Well it was loud sure, but sounded like crap compared to the bandpass box (which is expected). I couldn''t believe the difference. Basicly what I''m trying to say is if youhave the trunk space build or buy a bandpass box of the correct volume for the sub and you''ll be even more blown away by how amazing this sub is.

sound, price, construction

Weakness:

Power handling. The center caps are not square to the flange holes. I know this is trivial, but I mount my woofers with T-nuts and Allen screws. After mounting, two looked crooked. the flange holes are square, but the cap is slightly turned.

I purchased four 12.1''s after many weeks of debate. The reviews intrigued me to give them a try. I have them in seperate sealed enclosures at 1 cu-ft. lined with poly fill. I am powering the subs with two old four channel Rockford Power 1000''s. I have the crossed at 70Hz at 24db per octave with an 18Hz 18db per octave subsonic. I won''t bore you with system details, but I started with the amp gains flat. My initial impressions were good. At low signal levels, bass reproduction is very natural. sampling different types of music revealed the limitations. Some music natural, some VERY unatural. but always very tight and clean. The decay rate is impressive. I decided to see what a little more power would due. Up came the gains until distortion, and then backed down a little. I am running 500 watts TRUE rms to each. I threw in some music that really kicked. B+ass was tight and impressive. Kept cranking, no distortion, and still very clean...for about 30 seconds. Delaminated the voice coil on two. So maybe you should listen to the 350w rms rating after all. If it had been only one I could chalk it up to a defect. Two says that I overpowered them. If the power rating was higher, I probally would have stuck them out and tried tuning for more natural bass. As it is, I need a higher power rating woofer

Perfect! The name says it all, I have had these subs in my ''97 Suburban for over a year and they fill up all that space with quick responsive bass with any kind of music. I have never had one of these sieze up, I have fried an amp and a crossover pushing these subs but they have never broken a sweat even playing at very high SPL levels for exteded periods of time.

u have got to be crazy right????

well like everyone else i was very curious about this subwoofer. it took me a while to finally make up my to decide which sub i wanted. i thought about jl, kicker, audiomobile, diamond audio, but finally made my mind up on the infinity. and i''m glad i did. this woofer is really something else. I have all infinity products in my car accept for the amps (the new 50.3 comps, and the new 6x9 3 ways in the back). my chocie of amplifiers is hifonics. i have a four channel europa running my highs and mids, and the hifonics thor runnig my subs. i was really impressed the way subs sounds in the 1.25 qlogic box. it just feels so right when this thing hits. it plays all the right levels and adds a kick for those real lo lows. i would suggest this sub for people who like real true bass.I cant wait till my other sub comes in the mail and i will reevaluate.

Cone style, phat rubber surround, clean sound, lots of bass

Weakness:

none

The subs are extremely heavy with their double stacked magnets. The basket looks alright but can be improved. The aluminum cone looks really good. I have a Punch bd500.1 running 2 of these 10" subs. They are getting atleast 300Watts each. They hit extremely hard and I''m still breaking them in. This is the first time I had woofers that made my CD player skip. The sound is very clean and sounds good with just about any music.
