Strength:

Indestructable

Weakness:

What?

Bought 3 of the 8815.6 subs new for $229 each. The three together cost me less than one of my strokers did. Sound amazing no matter what amount of power you feed them, from minimal to a killowatt. Don't know what you guys are talking about with these speakers not being made well. We've jumped up and down on the cones of these and they still played like champs. Even plugging them into the wall, they'll play for 26 hours before damaging the coils. THREE INCHES of peak to peak excursion. That's more than strokers, more than ground zeros, and more than anything else on the market. I've pushed all kinds of subs to their limits and beyond, and have never had any troubles with any of them. Maybe you should stay away from Sanyo Fosgate products (Seeing as Rockford was bought out by Sanyo, manufacturer of Wal-Mart personal cassette players, and Sanyo components are now being integrated into all rockford fosgate products). Yet to compete with the Eclipse subs but guarantee they'll easly attain the mid-to upper 140 db range. Best I could get with 2 12" strokers + 2.5 killowatts was 143. You can't beat these subs for the price.

CV Strokers, Earthquake Magmas, Kappa Perfects. None of them compare to the Elcipse 88xx.6 series!

Strength:

Unbelieveable amount of bass, incredible sound quality, I would choose these subs over any other on the market.

Weakness:

What weaknesses?

I'v heard 2 Premier 12's not as loud or low. 4 Premier 10's almost as loud not nearly as low. 3 JL 12w6's with a 1000 watt amp almost as loud and just as low. And all I've got is 2 10" DVC's run by an ESX 175X2 amp.

Model Reviewed: Eclipse 8810 DVC

Strength:

Very Clean, Very Loud, Very Effecient. Outstanding Power Hnadeling.

Weakness:

NONE.

I just got my Eclipse 8810 DVC and I'm happy as a clam. This speaker certainly lives up to it's reputation. It pounds CLEAN and LOUD. They look great from the cone to the basket. This is one serious sub. As for the gentleman who complained about the Eclipse sub in the previous review, I have no clue as to what he is talking about. Eclipse 8800 subs are constructed like no one's business, these things are tough as a rock. I'd like to know where he bought his Eclipse sub from, prehaps it wasn't from an authorized dealer or prehaps he was sold counterfeit Eclipse. ECLIPSE does not break, it takes alot to even begin to beat the hell out of these speakers.
I loved these babies before I got them and I still love them now that I have them.

Model Reviewed: 8812.6

Strength:

WOW lots of bass from small enclosures. But the smaller the box is are the more power you need.

Weakness:

well I had one of the very first of the 8812.6 and they had a glue problem. they have since fixed this problem. and I got a new sub (under warranty of course). that made a major diffrance.

I have made and used both .5cu ft .75 cu ft boxes.
And they both slammed, but then I went crazy, and did what eclipse did not reccomend(however they did not discourage it). I ported it WOW WOW WOW what a change. It will hurt you!!!! I have one "1" 8812.6 in a 2.0cu ft box with 3 3" ports each 13&3/4" long. and i hit 138.9db continous and a peak of 140db they said it could not be done. I did it ask me how. chadmeirose@hotbot.com
If you got the room and you want tons of bass. I would deffenatly suggest that you port them.
Oh by the way my amp is a rockford fosgate 225.2.(kick ass amp)
The first sub I had people tapped an pressed on it
DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOUR SUB. GAURD IT WITH YOUR LIFE. Do not let anybody touch it period. Beacaus you will never be able to get those dents out.

Everything...

Weakness:

there are none!

These 8815's are great- I have been to the local shop a few times to check up on them, while waiting to save up enough cash to install a new system...They sound great!!! They are also the best looking speakers you will find...the spun aluminum, and the alunminum frame, damn, they look great- they sound great, and if you're interested in competition, then you know looks are almost as important as sound, and damn- these things are bveautiful...get em for just plain listening, or even for up to competition- you won't be let down...

Strength:

Nothing but a name or so it seems with
these sad reviews.

Weakness:

When I bought these speakers after reading
these unbelivible reviews I first noticed that the
box the speakers came in was cheap it looked like
recycled newspapers with a logo and picture.. but I
thought maybe thats how they try to keep the price down
So I passed that thought and just wanted to get these
babies installed! I had a company profesionaly install
it using 2 inch thick MDF. I came back for my car 3 hours
later jumping with joy to pump some watts through these
babies. I jumped into my car and drove down the Las Vegus
strip attempting to impress the people only to find that
when cranked to a reasonable level the magnet fell right
off the back of the speaker! omg I was embarest as my
bass droped off and nothing but fuzz was comeing through.
I thought that it was just a manufacture defect and I
brought my car back to the installers to show them what
happemd caz it could have been them.. maybe they dropped it.
They said they did not miss treat the speaker so I should
return it.. its a good thing i had them profesionaly installed
for the warrentee is void if you do it yourself. I figured
thats kinda sad but anyways whatever.. I got a new one
right away but could not get it installed because of closing
so I just use the one for the day. It was 2 hours later
when my other speaker acted up.. OMG! It got stuck I said
STUCK! in its forward possition on a bass note. I am running
infinity amps that are 1 year old and worked awsome on my
RF punch 10's that i had before and then sold for these
junky speakers.. anyways i pushed the cone back and got
an hour more use out of them only to find that now the
speaker was not moving.. WTF? i said I pulled over in a
parking lot to ckeck connections only to find that the
voice coil broke and pieces of it where stuck between the
cone and the basket.. this speaker was really pissing me off
and I decided that maybe these speakers might have been
damaged from the shiping considering the box they came in
I would not be surprized. I was going to try them again
from a new shipment until I spoke to car audio magazines
via e-mail and they told me I was better off with the RF
any day of the week. On that note I will be looking into
RF again

I do not know what the hype is but these are the worst
speakers I have ever had. If I was you I would check the
reviews on the RF punch 10's .. just amazing I will be
going back 4sure :) and for the ppl that say all the good
stuff on this page either they don't own them or they are
smoking some nasty stuff.

Strength:

High durability, excellent sound

Weakness:

so far none

At first i was a bit skeptical on the quality and greatness of the subs. I had heard a lot of hype proclaiming the 8812 as the best subs ever made. I have (er had) Perfect 12's in my car, and i thought that nothing could ever top those babies, but once i took a hear at the Eclipses i was won over. The bass is full and powerful, and never without detail. i must admit i was quite impressed with the performance, as i thought the hype was nothing more than that. Its a bit expensive but if you can muster up the dough, then go for it :o)
