None To all of you people bragging about 140 or 150 DB, good job. Just hope that someone that knows a thing or 2 about stereos doesn't show up and take the trophy. As far as DB Drag goes, a little shop in Beardstown helped a kid set up a car with 2 12's and 2 10's that literally "blew" Eclipse and all the rest of these big name subs out of the competition. The guys with the high-dollar systems were laughing at his "Sound Warehouse" sticker, so he joined the competition and blew up the DB meter after the rest of these guys had gone. He did 171.2 DB, by far the winner. And to a certain, very high volume, these subs sounded great. Just goes to show that a little know-how can out-do a lot of money. Similar Products Used: None |

They are the best. I had a par of audiobans and i was puching a 600 watt power acoustic. now i have two 12 in. eclipse in my ride pwered by a 300 watt cross fire 302 and it hits way harder. i have to shut it of some times!
Weakness:
nothing. the box doesnt take up so much space and they are hard hitting. i paid 500 for the amp and the speakers plus i had instalation and wiring free. it was worth it Similar Products Used: infinity perfect 0.1, 100 wat MTX 8000 |

Strength:
These subs can pack a big punch in a little package. I recently won a DB drag with just my two 10" eclipse aluminum cone subs and a 210 watt Audio Control amp. Keep in mind that they can easily handle 500+ apiece. The box is fairly compact if you only have a small space and they sound great even when not maxed out. I now have along with my two 10' subs a 15' aluminum cone all pushed by a 2200 Watt Power Acoustik "Fire & Ice" amp in a black 94 Impala SS. These speakers are an incredible product and well worth the money.
Weakness:
The only down side for all the po' and broke lows out there is the price. You've got to have a pretty steep budget to shell out this kind of cash. On the 10's I've spent $700 for the subs and box together. I did get a deal on the 15' though at only $210 instead of $495 because it was a display model at Ovation. Not a dent scratch or tear on it. Best $200 bucks I've ever spent. If you shop around you can find some good deals on these, and it's best to jump on them while you've got the chance. If nothing else put them on layaway until you can get the money. This product is definitely worth every penny! So quit reading and go buy some! Similar Products Used: Nothing I've seen can touch these. Unless you stack like eight 12' JL's in your car and that just takes up too much space. |

Heavy as hell to move, people bothering me to just let them hear it! WOW!!! These things kick like... umm... err... Nothing else you can buy! I started by hooking it up to my "600W" Pyramid Amp, sucked hardcore. Then I got a 500W RMS Soundstream 5.2 Class A Refrence amp, that did the trick. My car shakes so bad I think my seats are going to rattle loose. These things hit so low and hard and extremly clear. Any of the retards who say these are crap don't know what they are talking about. If you want them to work well you need to buy a GOOD amp, (Soundstream, Accausic, Eclipse, MTX) and make sure you have the right sized box. These are the only subs to buy!! Eclipse 8810 DVC
Strength:
VERY LOUD, VERY CLEAN
Weakness:
I'd have to be smoking something pretty nasty and not sharing. =) I paid $329. I also am sick and tired of people saying this sub sucks. I've ran mine for 2 years now. When I first got it it sounded like crap because I didn't know I needed a line driver for my amp at the time. I then got a line driver and the sounded good, but not good enough because there was too much ripple. At the time aside from the ripple, for the notes that played ECLIPSE was GOOD! I switched over to ported on the Eclipse and got ALOT more SPL out of it, the ripple went down because the port made it more relaxed at the 40hz-50hz. I bought my Eclipse and had it installed by an authorized dealer who also made my custom sealed box. The crappy bass wasn't because of the sub, but because of install. This is a very difficult sub to work with. The wrong enclosure can make it sound like crap, but the right enclosure can make this the best sub on the market. Strength:
Sound Quality(accurate, tight, goes low, clean, and not boomy), High quality construction=high power handling=not having to worry that your sub will get smoked(like a Kappa Perfect), R&D that actually shows(just look at the basket and the 3" voice coil.)
Weakness:
damn thing is so heavy! This of course wasn't part of my decision though when i bought it. When one visits Eclipse's web site, or even browses through their large product line catolog, one might think that all the work they claim they put into their product is just a bunch of bs. I purchased this sub on Friday, popped it in the spot where my Infinity Kappa "Perfect" once was, and had a rockin ride for Friday night. This sub will handle whatever power load you send it, this sub is the tank of subs. I was reading in the manual that during testing, this sub was able to play constantly for 96 hours at a power of >500 watts, and it was fine. I had an Infinity Kappa Perfect and blew it out by playing it the same way I was playing the new 8800. I paid only 270+tax, and i couldn't be more happy. This is by far the most musical sounding sub there is on the market today for the price. I am using the free qlogic box that crutchfield sent me with the kappa perfect(they failed to ask for it back so...). I know the box is a little smaller than the 1 ft^3 recommendation, but I have not cleaned up my trunk yet. The sales people at audio communications recommended that I use 1" mdf for the amount of power that I am sending it(bridged kappa 202a, yes I have a cap in my system too). This sub is for people that want a musical sounding system, not a "boomy ghetto, circuit city db drag race blow your speakers and buy new ones for next week" system. The Aluminum cone dissipates and radiates the heat very well, I could feel the convection off of it after playing it after an hour of driving. This means you don't really have to worry about playing your system loud after working all day while your car is baking in the sun, I still do anyway though for the love of my amps. I do not believe I have turned my gain to where it could be, but it still gets very loud and plays very low at the level I have it. I have only one sub cause I didn't want my whole trunk takin up, but I am really happy with the amount of sound I get out of one. This is the second product I have bought that is eclipse and all i can say is that they are totally able to stand behind the hype they put into their advertising, the thing is though everything they say about their product is true. Well, anyone going for sound quality and not the ghetto db bass race contest at Circuit City or whatever Urban booty system contests there are in comptom, should go with the 88 series, it's accurate, tight, loud and clean. I give it 5 and 5. I mentioned Kappa Perfect, since I used one for 4-6 hours, you can read my review on that to see what I had to say about their "perfect" loudspeaker. This Eclipse will last you until you become bored with it. As I always say, you best make sure you deal with an authroized dealer, cause you never know what may go wrong, and unauthorized sales make the price go up anyway. Similar Products Used: Infinity Kappa "Perfect", Boston Accoustics probably is just as accurate but I cannot really say since I haven't tried one out |

Strength:
Tight, Loud, Bass that kicks you in the back of the head.
Weakness:
None. I've got two of these in a sealed custom box built by Audio Creations in Marcy, NY. They deal Eclipse mostly. I couldn't afford the 88 series but who cares, these subs put out more bass than I can stand anyway! It's not just boomy flabby bass. Kick drums sound like kick drums, bass guitar sounds like bass guitar. These subs and extreme depth to any *GOOD* recording. Make no mistake, these things absolutley slam! I listen to Metal, Classical, Rock, Techno and even Blues and Jazz. These subs sound good with anything. If you go to an Eclipse dealer and he's got Eclipse subs in his car to show off, have a listen! Similar Products Used: I've heard Orions and Power Acoustik's, Pioneers etc.. the Orions were good the rest suck. |
