Strength:

enclosure size and versitility. deep low end. average price. extreme reliability.

Weakness:

cosmetically they are plain. but after all are you looking at it or listening to it?

i have either personally used or had direct contact with every model made and have yet to hear one i did not like. more importantly i have yet to ever have one fail. you just cant find a better sub with the same enclosure requirements. for those who claim they dont hit hard, well they need to study their box building skills or invest in a quality amplifier.

i have used kicker, fosgate, jl, oz, eclipse, soundstream, and focal and nothing is of this caliber

Strength:

ummm strengths? the only strength is that it has ALOT of weaknesses.

Weakness:

Um they dont hit hard, they are soft, theyre for "musical" wimps... they are lousy at power handling, they cant hit low on rap music, they are incredibly ridiculous, they look cheap, at least design a sub that looks good...

i paid 200 for my pair, they are not worth it... the SQ is overrated, unless your into drumbeats and shiz like that, its not all that great... id rather have paid 50 dollars more and got some nice MTXs, JLs, or RFs, something with nice hits...

Everyone said they were the bomb subs, everyone was wrong... majority is wrong.

maybe a cheap audiobahn, but those hit 10x harder

Strength:

Good clean punch. Good mids

Weakness:

Not big bass. seems hard to eq for bass. Maybe the IDQ8 might have a better bass sound. I wish I could fit 2 of the 10" subs..... need more... boom...

I have 2 of the IDQDVC 8" 150W Dual Voice Coil in my 2001 convertable Corvette. Had Soundstream 404s bridged but now run a kenwood KAC-X301T bridged with stock stereo and bose front end.

Strength:

Damn. They sound GOOD.

Weakness:

Too inexpensive. I had doubts about it at first because of the price.

About $130 a pop for the IDQ 12" DVCs. Hell ya I would recommend it.

Sounds better than any sub I've heard in friend's cars and car audio shops.

Strength:

1. Very accurate, people are saying in this article the are not get the right amp and deck and they will be very accurate.
2. Incredibly clean the cleanest purest sounding subs I have ever had in my car.
3. THE SPL ISNT VERY GOOD WHAT ARE YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT. IVE SPENT MORE ON DYNAMAT THAN ON MY ENTIRE SYSTEM.

Weakness:

a little plain but easily fixed by either reverse moounting or some custom fiberglass.

As you can see I have had quite a few of the supposed best of the best subwoofers, and have paid up to $250 for one sub and none of them sounded really good. I figured what the hell might as well try ID they only require about 1 cu ft for a 12, and they are only 75 bucks a piece. So I got them hooked them up and now I WILL NOT BUY ANY OTHER KIND OF SUBWOOFER.

Just remember that a air conditioning unit can push 120 db but does it sound good doing it(HELL NO)!!!!!! IDQ's have the best of both worlds good sound and hard hitting. Why pay for a name when you can get quality for cheaper.

Strength:

I just purchased an IDQ-12D4 V.2, and it is one of the best sounding subs that I have ever had. I am running it at 600 watts RMS bridged off of a hifonics z600 amplifier. It handles the power with no problem. It almost will run me out of my car. It plays harmonics excellently.

Weakness:

I don't have room for two.(or three, or four)

Please buy one of these and feed it a lot of power. You will be very happy.

These subs are very nice and tight, great sound quality. If you want SPL, look other places. These are fr audiophiles. I'm powering them with a Phoenix Gold ZX400ti.

Strength:

These subs are awesome. They have great sq as well as good spl if you feed them enough power. Did I mention they hit down to an insane 14hz!

Weakness:

nothing, except for the boring looks

These subs are the best value ever. You can get them for around one hundred dollars for a 12. They can handle a lot of power to. i have a phoenix gold xs-2500 amp pushin one twelve in my galant and it bumps like hell. If you feed these subs, the spl will come. Compared to any other sub even close to this price and the idq beats them all. Jl cant hang with them, fosgate's suck. The only sub that is better than the idq that I have heard is the kappa perfects. They hit hard. They also cost about 250 dollars, so its not fair to compare. I recommend that if you are pressed for cash and want awesome bass go to soundhabit.com and pick up a pg xs-2500 amp and a idq twelve and you got a nice set up for bass. The amp is only 290 and puts out 500 watts rms. This sub is rated at 350 but can easily handle 500 watts. Go buy an idq sub now. Power them with a good high powered amp and you will get awesome sound.

Strength:

Coustic is the best amp dollar for dollar. I've pushed two kappa 120se speakers with fosgate power 360a2,sony xplod 250, and an off brand and the coustic 240 pushed just as hard for alot less money.
The 240 was so good in fact, that i upgraded to the 600se. The 600 is the biggest amp coustic makes and its worth every dollar. I paid $200 for the 240 and close to $375 for the 600. Both are bridgeable amps.

Weakness:

I was sceptical about buying coustic just because of their name. The coustic corporation doesnt put enough time and money into earning the customers trust.

If you're looking to install an above average system and keep the cost to the minimum, coustic is the way to go. If you want products to start conversations with your buds and to brag about to people who havent heard or seen your system, go name brand for a couple hundred dollars more.

Similar Products Used:

Coustic 240se matches and surpasses the xtant 301a bridged. The 301a goes on a good day for at least $400 while the coustic 240 prices in around $225.

Model Reviewed: idq 10" d2 dvc (year 2k model)

Strength:

-realistic bass
-very tight
-small enclosure
-produces shockwaves in my car

Weakness:

-vibrates parts in my car

This is my first car sub and all i can say it sounds magnificent. I have my gains and bass boos at 1/4 and my head unit at about 3/4 output power and this is enough to produce shockwaves in my car. I don't know if this is normal but besides feeling this thumping on my chest I can also feel air waves tingling my head each time the bass hits. It feels like a shockwave or at least that's how it could feel like. People say that the idqs don't put out alot of spl and they may be right when it comes to measured spl, but when it comes to normal human listening level and still producing music not noise the idq d2 seems powerfull enough for me.
In terms of sound quality the idq takes the cake. When I first plugged it in it sounded $hitty, but that was because it was loosely held in the box and amp and hu weren't properly set for it. After screwing it in properly and adjusting the gain, bass boost, x-overs, and other myrad options on my hu the sub began to pound beautifully. The bass is punchy, tight and well defined.
