Strength:
they hit pretty hard, but not hard enough
Weakness:
i had 2 thunder 8000 4ohm 12" subs powerd by an MTX thuder 500D and they both blew in less than a month. the wires from the terminals to the voice coil were vibrated loos several times, and i fixed them myself, i am not happy with the performance of these subs. i will not purchase mtx again. considering the experices i myself have had and of freinds around me. i gave this review 2 stars, because i do believe it could get worse. Similar Products Used: i had a old pioneer 12 4 ohm sub, i paid 90 bucks for, and was feeding it 150 watts, i think it put out about 10% less bass than one of the 8000 12's but never blew and still works fine in my buddys car, hes feeding it 3 or 400 watts and hasnt blew yet. and has been running it longer than my 800 12s |

Strength:
For the time they lasted, they sounded good, except for certain frequency ranges. I want to say the very low end and very high end bass was distorted.
Weakness:
Well, for some reason the tinsel wire keeps going out on the 8000s. The people at circuit city (where I purchased them) said that it might just be a bad shipment. I come back after replacing my 8000 12s numerous times, and decided to go with a different brand speaker. Ok, first off I saw the commercial for the 8000s, read up on the specifications for the 8000s, and basically lived and breathed 8000s for about a month before purchasing 2 12s in a sealed box. The sound on these speakers is ok until you hit ultra low bass, or high end bass (somewhere around 80hz and above). Don't get me started on the tinsel wire. For a sub that is supposed to handle 1000watts, it performed badly. Another thing is that I had to really give it some power to move them. That rubber seal around the speakers took a lot to move them. I put around 300watts rms to each, and they decided to work right. In my opinion, I would rather get some 12" infinities. They will out do the 8000s anyday. That's what I'm using now and believe me the SPL is much higher, the sound is clearer, and for about 20 bucks more I have pure competition subs. I don't have any complaints about the MTX amps though, although they cost more than they're worth :) Similar Products Used: JL, Infinity |

Strength:
Looks, nice output, cast aluminum basket, 8-layer 2-1/2" voice coil, and plays well in a 1.5 square foot sealed box.
Weakness:
It can be a little muddy on certain frequencies typically the 80Hz to 100Hz range. It did not have the SPL that my SPL15 did, but I am comparing it to a DVC vs. a SVC. Similar Products Used: Soundstream SPL15 & Rockford Fosgate Punch XLC. |

none i hooked MTX 12" 8000 with Kenwood eXcelon 401M and this thing rocked. one day i was testing on a full volume and it lasted for 40 min and after that my amp blew out. there goes my 400 dollars of investment on amp. you need some good amp to hook these suckers up. Strength:
They do hit pretty hard but be carful on what size box you put them in, if they are in a box with no depth they will hit like sh*t.
Weakness:
i pretty much like the product.. i wish it could hold a little more wattage, honestly i have found that just because the 8000's put out more bass then the 4000's doesn't mean they hold more wattage, in fact i have found that in some cases the 4000's can hold more wattage then the 8000's.. if you want bass that will pound but won't hit to hard these are the spearkers to get. Strength:
very big magnet which means greater power handeling, fairly good excurcion very mean looks.
Weakness:
the only weaknes i noticed was that scince it kiked so hard the two little wwires that go to the coil hit on the wofer so it may give you a sound that sounds like if your coils are burning out but they are not.the other weakness is that i am starting to go deaf so i bought me some ear plugs. i would recomend them to anyone who doesn't mind being deaf, and for peple who like mean ultra low bass. i have only two 12s with a 500d, they sound very loud but my 500d requires too much power so i am obligated to add another battery or a capacitor.these two twelves can hit up to 147db.its true its true. These speakers are only to be used by pro's like me! Similar Products Used: strokers are the only subs that are in their category only the pro's use these kind or speakers |

Strength:
First of all, Ill start out by saying this is one of the loudest subs I have ever heard in my life. It hits lows very well and shakes the crap out of everything around with extreme prejudice. Handles power well, I cant even get mine to destort. Great product...I reccomend it to anyone that wants a good, quality sub. Has great distance bass too!
Weakness:
About the only negative, and I am straining to say negative, is the fact that ot doesnt exactly pick up higher bass..not a problem realy.Itmakes up for that. I reccomend this sub because of it's extreme power handling and sound. It's a little pricy, but it is well worth it!! Similar Products Used: Infinity Kappa Perfect, Polk Dx, MoMo |

Strength:
heavy, pretty magnet, nice color, cute but weird looking surround
Weakness:
everything. lets just say its a sub. hyped, yes, but just a regular sub. no fancy gimmicks like 2" excursion or aluminum cone. just a plain and expensive sub with a lot of hype sounds like any other sub. the hollywood bottom of the line speakers sound the same as these. power acoustic subs sound the same if put in the right enclosure with lots of power. had a competition where a local shop put 8 12" 8000's in a huge box and powered it with all of their biggest and most powerful amps and the thing won the competition by .3 db. This guy with an alpine amp not even bolted down on his rear seat running 2 15' HCCA and not even tuned properly almost shut the 8000's down. tuned properly, the HCCA would've cleaned house. had this other guy with 2 15" Eclipse 8800 that hit the same spl as the 8 12" mtx8000 and he won an earlier competition. goes to show yah, why pay the price of the hype when the hype belongs elsewhere. Go and dish out the cash for the Eclipse or the Orion and maybe even the perfects. these are true spl subs. and if you don't believe me, bart simpson says "bite me". Nah, just go and listen to the other subs. they'll suprise you. Similar Products Used: Orion HCCA, Infinity Perfects, Eclipse 8800 aluminum cones, and yes mtx blue thunders. The last ones suck big time. not even close to the ones mentioned before. and the Mtx8000. go spend your money elsewhere. |

1999 benz E320
Strength:
Hits extremely hard and loud. Very tight and clean bass... no distortion even at HIGH volume.
Weakness:
My benz E320 rattles like a *****! Have 2 12" MTX 8000 and these subs hits hard. I'm only giving 300 watts rms to each. And about the sensitivity on these subs, just ignore that stat... sensitivity is a pointless thing to look at. I would strongly recommend this subs to anyone.
