Strength:

dishonest to their very core which serves them as a strength

Weakness:

do not treat their customer's or claimant's with integrity, good faith or compassion

I have had horrible experiences with Farmer's and believe they should be convicted of insurance fraud. If anyone has had a devasting experience with this company, I would ask that they contact me. I am sure I am not the only one out here that feels this way. Kathy Womack. email me at buzzbombkathy@yahoo.com

Strength:

They are a big company

Weakness:

Agent Service was poor. Common since is lacking among some managers. They will defend crooks before they believe their own customers.

Farmer's Insurance Co. does not represent their own policy holder's interests. I informed Farmer's that an individual may be filing a false claim against me for an accident, trying to collect for prior damage to his car. A year later, I find out Farmer's paid out a ridiculous amount on this false claim and charged me with a accident over $400 on my record. Now my insurance rates have gone up. I'm betting this has happened to others out there. If so, contact me and maybe we can file a class action suit to get our records cleared. 913-492-6738

Strength:

Nothing that I can think of right now. Even their claims representative was rude and hard to deal with.

Farmers Insurance, I have been insured by Farmers for over 20 years. In that twenty years, I have made three claims against my home owners insurance. Recently, I attempted to make a claim against my homeowners insurance on a rental property that I own. farmers refused to pay for any damages, and called all of the damages "Lifestyle issues." Needless to say, I was dissapointed. Earlier in the year, my wife and I were involved in a collision where a drunk driver ran a stop sign in front of us and was at fault. My wife's back was injured, and Farmers has refused to pay for treatments by a licensed Chiropractor. Farmers is not going to be my insurance company much longer. I am changing companies by the end of the month

Model Reviewed: 1997 Buell Motorcycle

Strength:

None--Customer service is not-existent. Customer loyalty is transparent.

Weakness:

The company has gone downhill in the past eight years. Customer service is left to the individual agents. Agents are left to their own abilities and resources. Agents are constantly moving or changing companies.

I had four vehicles insured with Farmers Insurance for more than ten years without an accident or claim. When initially purchased my 1997 Buell, they were glad to insure it. Shortly thereafter, they contacted me to cancel the insurance on the Buell. They stated that it was a Super Sport Bike and not insurable. I have been riding motorcycles for more than thirty years without incident and Farmers has insured them for the past ten years. I changed insurance on the Buell and all of the other vehicles. Within three months a driver insured by Farmers failed to yield from a private drive causing me to "lay down" my motorcycle to avoid "T-Boning" him. Farmers refused my injury claim even before the police report was published. The report proved the other driver culpable for the accident and subsequent injuries. The physical damages to the Buell amounts to under $2300.00. My injuries and hospitalization so far exceeds $100,000 (Deep Vein Thrombosis and Multiple Pulmonary Emboli and up to a year of Heparin and Warfarin [Blood Thinners]}.

Strength:

Cheap rates and halfway decent customer service if you maintain an immaculate driving record

Weakness:

They take every opportunity to play games with you

Twenty years of accident-free driving, followed by two accidents in less than a year. First they cancelled the liability-only policy on our older vehicle and tried to force Mid Century Insurance on us. I found less expensive policy elsewhere so I declined. Then they cancelled the comprehensive policy on our '99 Astro and forced a grossly-overpriced Mid Century policy on us. We cancelled and went with The Hartford, which turned out to be a bigger mistake.

Strength:

NONE as fas as I'm concerned. Probably offer low rates as they are very proficient at not paying or underpaying their claims.

Horrible claims service, used every tactic you can imagine to delay and/or deny my claim. Waited until 364 days after the accident to offer a settlement, which was thousands less than my medical bills. I wouldn't have Farmers as my insurance if it was free. I can't say enough bad things about them.

Similar Products Used:

Geico, good experiences with them. Allstate, charges too much for the level of service they provide.

Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of insurance companies. The insurance industry is set up to: A)Collect more money than is needed to pay damages while skimming excessively from the top and B)To provide otherwise unskilled people an opportunity to make money by misleading others. This has never been more evident than with my wife's dealings with Farmer's Insurance. They have managed to raise her rates to an incredible $1000/6 mo. from $550/6 mo. due to a recent incident which resulted in $1500 to her vehicle. This increase is to last for 3 years. After the $500 deductible, Farmers paid the remaining $1000. The incident is as summarized: Wife is driving 50 mph on 65 mph highway. Brick falls from vehicle in front of wife. Brick strikes front bumper cover causing damage. Brick continues its path beneath the car. Brick damages engine cover. End result $1500 damage. Normal person's thoughts: "Unavoidable incident. Not the driver's fault. Comprehensive. No increase in rate. Farmer's Insurance: "Damage was low on the car. Driver must have driven over the top of brick to cause such damage. Driver could have avoided such an incident. Driver is responsible. Let's advise the driver "it is comprehensive" than change our mind after the driver has filed the claim. In effect we can mislead the driver into filing a claim which we will classify as collision, then we can justifiably raise her rates. How much? Cost of previous 8 years of auto insurance: $6600 Deductible paid for the 1 incidenT: $500 Difference in cost over the next three years due to the increase: $2700 TOTAL $9800 Reimbursement from Farmer's for the one incident: $1000 Please do not give Farmer's Insurance your money!

I had Geico car insurance for 15 years. They were great. Looking back I don't know why I switched to Farmers. I was a "preferred" driver with Geico for years... no car accidents, scraps, dents, nothing... for 13 years- since I was 17. So I sign up with Farmers and they DROP me after I scrapped the side of my car (damage 1,500). And they were jerks about it. Geico took me back and I was able to reinstate my preffered status. What is Farmers thinking?

Strength:

Local agent was helpful and got things done when I called.

Weakness:

Claims adjusters let voice mail take their calls. I have yet to talk to the man assigned to my case. Horrible service.

Someone with Farmers insurance pulled out in front of me last week at rush hour and I hit her. No injuries, so the police let her out of the violation and told us to exchange info and go home. Huge mistake. I called the other driver's agent as soon as I got home. When I called Farmers to get a claim number, every rep for the next three days asked the same questions: Was our customer cited? Was there a report? I had the police come to my house to take a statement. Farmers was supposed to have an adjuster contact me 48 hrs after the claim was filed. On the fourth day, I raised the roof until I got an adjuster to record my statement. They promised to get back to me this week. After reading everyone's experiences here, I'm dreading the next part of this process. I'm now almost one week without a car and it hasn't even seen the inside of a shop.
