Strength:

Farmer's Insurance called right away with offers of settlement
for personal injury if I so desired.

Weakness:

They kept calling and eventually I decided to sue for personal injury
that involved my left temporal lobe. Unfortunately this is where
much of the processing occurs during writing programs, the
type of work that would have been my profession.

I'm slightly dissatisfied with the final product provided by
Farmers' Insurance. It took nearly 5 years to obtain the personal
injury settlement. By that time I had peddled nearly 1,100 miles
searching for an appartment to rent after being placed into the
state mental hospital shortly after the crash under consideration.
The $1,800.00 I recieved for the damage to my left temporal lobe
was from the possible allotment of $25,000.00 for liability insurance
a bit short of what I had hoped for.

Comparing the money spent on education alone and the left temporal
lobes significance during the computer programming process, I find
it diffuct to see how the estimation of $1,800.00 could have been
arriven at especially after the definition and description of the
injury by a professional psychologist.

Strength:

Quick, easy claim resolution. Competitive rates. Our agent is courteous and responsive.

Weakness:

THe monthly billing service is a complete piece of dung!

We have Farmers for our autos and also for our homeowners and term life policies. We did have two claims to settle several years ago and in each case, the claim was handled efficiently. The premium of $177 for two 2000 vehicles at a married rate is lower than average for this area. The problem is, Farmers switched the company that does their monthly bill paying 6 months ago and now our premium is anywhere from $190 -- $300. Our agent has said things like "the discount for such and such didn't get figured in and it will be adjusted next month" -- well, so far, we have paid a hell of a lot more money over the last 6 months with no explanation. So, we're shopping for a new insurance company.

Strength:

None.

Weakness:

Simply the WORST total lack of communication between the regional offices and local offices in existance! Also received no notification of when my homeowners policy had expired without renewal. This on top of the car insurance issues was NOT giving me good feelings!

Price was fairly competitive, service and communication non existant. I would never start another policy with them again for any reason whatsoever.

Liberty Mutual, Nationwide, misc others. I will never, EVER do business with Farmer's again, period. The worst insurance company I have ever had to deal with. I had a claim 4 years ago, received a check minus my deductible pending fault resolution(I was cut off from oncoming traffic..). Argued the claim amount as the car in question was well above market norm, couldn't get any sort of answers with respect to the claims adjustments. A year later, still hadn't heard ANYTHING on the resolution of the accident, court appearance notice, nothing. The local agent couldn't even find my claim. I went through OVER half a dozen different offices, including a regional office, all of which knew nothing about my claim or the status. I've repeated this approximately once every 12-19 months now for the past 4 years without ANY success whatsoever, or reimbursement of my deductible.

Strength:

Nothing...

Weakness:

Apparently the local agent and the main offices do not communicate. And aren't insurance agents supposed to know what they're doing???

As soon as all my car policies and house policy expire, I will find another company. The lack of communication and efficiency is scary. I paid a 6 month new car policy by handing my agent a check for the exact amount. I got 3 bills from Farmers threatening to cancel the policy for non-payment. Then I got a refund check for the amount I had paid. I took it to my agent and he said they had applied it to my other car (the premium was not due for 3 more months). The day after my agent received the Farmers refund check to apply it to the correct policy, he himself sent me a cancellation notice on the new car policy - this is the one paid with the check I handed him in the first place. This is just one of many such incidents. I currently have 5 insurance cards in my older vehicle, all with different effective dates, all with the same ending date. One of them actually has the effective date and the expiration date as the same day! It scares me to think I may actually have to submit a claim. As soon as I can reinsure my house, I will change - I can't wait.

Strength:

Sales agents do a good job.

Weakness:

Claims agents NEVER stick up for you, do not communicate with you, and don't inform you of progress or decisions. We have been in involved in several accidents, none of which were our fault, and Farmers simply laid down and accepted liability for the accident. They didn't fight for us at all. They just paid. Result: We were charged with the fault, our rates went up, our record was damaged. It takes 3 years for each accident to wash from the DMV records. In a case where the other party was also with a Farmers customer who was clearly in the wrong (they made a lane change into our car), Farmers gave us no help at all and took the side of the other party. In another case where we had an unbiased witness, Farmers first told us we were at fault and ignored our witness, then told us that they didn't say that at all. we have been fighting this thing for months and Farmers just doesnt help us at all.

We were hit by an uninsured mororist in a parking lot, and they just said it wasn't worth it to try to find the other party - never tried.

They are very expensive and you are wasting your money if you have an accident. Don't expect any help from Farmers.

This company's insurance is among the most expensive. You are wasting your money if you have a claim. Must pay decuctible even if you have a witness that saw everything.

I would NOT recommend this company.

Strength:

Good liability coverage, good customer service

Weakness:

overpriced, disloyal,and they don't
have good uninsured motorist coverage.

I wouldn't recommend it to young or new drivers because the price you pay for the coverage, they're not to good at helping you out. For example: when an uninsured motorist hits your car, their uninsured motorist coverage is terrible. It does not include property damage. For adults this would be an alright insurance because they give them more slack on prices.

Strength:

Good customer service.

Weakness:

Overpriced.

I never had to file a claim with Farmers, so I'm not sure whether or not they cover that process well. But any changes I needed to make to my policy were taken care of quickly and courteously. The only problem I had with them, was their price. If you're a male driver under the age of 25, I don't suggest you go with Farmers.

Strength:

Excellant customer service both on the claims side with the Company and with the agents in day-to-day policy handling.

Weakness:

A little expensive for younger male drivers.

I would definitely recommend Farmers as in 17 years of being insured with Farmers I have only had one unpleasant experience. The unpleasant experience was with a new agent I acquired when I relocated. I simply switched to a good agent rather than letting one bad apple ruin the crop. Today, I am extremely thankful I made that decision.

I have had only two claims and both were dealt with the fast, friendly and fair service Farmers promises.

Farmers does not promise the cheapest prices, only competitive prices.I strongly recommend Farmers to those who value service over a few dollars.
