Strength:
Faking premium service image with a low grade servie; able to sell a coach seat for a 1st class price; capitalize the good reputation achieved in the past and maximize the short term profitability and eventually ruin the once had good reputation; able to use frustration to force the customer to accept lower grade service in order to save cost and eventually boost profit; very business driven with no feeling towards the customer and their frustration
Weakness:
Failing to make it even sounds making sense when try to screw a customer, in other words, bluntly telling the customer that they have to accept bad services; no sympathy at all to the ordeal and frustration of the customer I have been with Farmers Insurance for 10 years, my recent experience makes me to believe Farmers is deterioting into a company only cares to their bottom line, and doesn't mind, or shall I say may purpose try to cut the cost by frustrating its customer. My case is still open (claim#1006811228 in case anyone question the truthfulness of my story). To make a long story short, my wife had a fender bender, but luckily the damage was limited to the front bumper area. When I went Farmer for estimate, the estimate was very low because it was based upon cheap after market parts and they didn't even check the things behind the bumper. I took the car to a body shop and asked them to take the bumper down and look inside, sure enough there are some other damages, they took the photos and emailed to the Farmers. Farmers wants to see it again, but since it requires to take down the bumper, they insist on me to leave the car over the body shop for 48 hours. I asked them to just make an appointment for me, it would take about an hour because I don't want to pay rental car if I don't have to. They flatly refused that saying it is a Policy not to make an appointment, I could only leave the car there so the guy can come down whenever he wants. What happen to the premium service they promise when they try to present the customer as a premium insurance company. Frankly I believe this is a "Frustrate you" approach to force you to give in and accept lower estimate. Guess what, I am not giving in, I still want them to make the appointment, and I still want to demand factory parts, not cheap after market parts. I refuse to pay 1st class ticket, and take a coach seats, this is what Farmer forcing me to accept now. Strength:
They send out birthday and Christmas cards each year.
Weakness:
They are only interested in getting your money, not in customer satisfaction when there is a claim. I have been a member of Farmers Insurance for over 27 years and have an excellent driving record. While my car was parked at my place of employment, it was hit by a hit-and-run driver and was totalled. Farmers "low balled" me and offered far less than my car was worth. The claims adjuster refused to negotiate so I wrote a letter to the president of Farmers. I told him about my driving record, my length of time as a Farmers member and pleaded my case, but he sided with his agent. I was working part-time to put myself through graduate school I and couldn't afford to pay for an attorney to fight on my behalf. Needless to say, Farmers screwed me big time no matter what proof I had that my car was worth far more than they offered. I erroneously thought since I had been with them for so long, I would have been treated better than that! Not so! They are not interested in customer service. All they care about is lining their own pockets at the expense of drivers who are forced to carry insurance. I would recommend that people look elsewhere if you're interested in honesty, integrity and good customer service. Similar Products Used: None |

Taking customers money
Weakness:
Unethical Uncaring Unyielding Unbelievable They defintely do not live up to their motto of getting customers back to where they belong fast. Three months later and our house still isn't repaired. Don't go with Farmers! With as many insurance companies as there are available to consumers, do some research and find a company with good customer ratings on claims. I don't know how anyone can read the negative reviews and ask what the real story is behind them. The following is one of the real stories behind the negative reviews. I have auto and home insurance with Farmers. The only auto claim I have ever filed was glass related and therefore not very expensive. Recently I had to file my first homeowners claim. A tree fell on our home during a windstorm and hit two sections of our home. We were contacted by an adjustor the next day but he didn't come to assess the damage until two days later. He sent out a company to remove the tree and in the process they damaged our deck. They also tarped our roof in sections, which left some punctured areas of our roof open to the rain. Because of this we had water damage. We refused to have the first company come back so our adjustor sent another company out to deal with the water damage. This company removed part of the wall and insulation in our bedroom closet as well as part of the ceiling, which revealed a hole caused by a tree branch puncturing our roof. The water was running through this hole into our walls and ceiling. This second company did not check the tarp and more water damage occurred. They came back about a week later and took more of our ceiling out and the drywall around the door. When we told our adjustor that we did not want to use either one of these companies to complete the repairs to our home he informed us that we could hire any contractor we wanted. We received several private bids which were comparable to the ones received by the companies associated with Farmers. When we forwarded these bids to our adjustor he stated that he could get the first company he had sent to do the work for about $6,000 less than the contractor that we wanted to hire. The biggest problem with this was that the company he was talking about had never even seen the water damage and he was basing his numbers on a bid that was done before the water damage was assessed. Our adjustor refused to change the numbers so we contacted his supervisor. The supervisor got the numbers to come up by about $2,000, which was still $4,000 short of what we need to repair our home. I emailed the CEO of Farmers and got a response very quickly. They promised to review everything and get back to me. Unfortunately they couldn't understand why we didn't want to use either of the first companies, who had proven to be incompetent. We consulted our attorney and also filed a complaint with the insurance commissioner. Our attorney suggested small claims court; the insurance commissioner stated that there was nothing they could do as Farmers was not breaking any laws. They also suggested contacting an attorney. So far we have received checks totalling around $11,000. The actual costs will be around $18,000. Since Farmers withholds a percentage of money based on the depreciation value of your home, we are not even guaranteed that we will receive the other $3,000 that the computer program and adjustor decided our repairs will cost. After the work is completed the adjustor has to come to the home and "assess" the repairs to make sure they were done properly. This whole thing started on March 20, 2005. We finally began work on our home on May 20, 2005. Farmers didn't care at all that we had a new baby sleeping in our room (born Jan. 29, 2005) or that we had holes in the ceiling where we could see outside. They didn't care that we had open insulation. They also didn't care that we had to keep our other three children (15, 12, and 9)out of the family room due to damage. They don't care that when the work finally began we had to move our bedroom furniture to the garage and our family room furniture to the dining room and living room. They don't care that we have to sleep on our son's bunk bed or that our baby is sleeping on the floor. They don't care that all I have between my family and the construction is a piece of plastic. They don't care that we were breathing in toxic fumes today due to the stain being applied (we finally had to leave). They don't care that we have our own business to run and that this has completely disrupted our lives in a way I didn't even know was possible. They don't care that my allergies and asthma have been affected due to the fine dust that is in the air of our home and has settled on everything in our home. They don't care about anything but collecting their money. Oh, did I mention that our adjustor said we could stay in a hotel for a reasonable amount of time (whatever that means) during the time of repairs? One little detail is that we would have to pay for the hotel up front and submit receipts that they would then review for reimubursement. Do you really think they intend to reimburse us? I don't. We aren't asking for anything else but that our home be restored to the condition it was in before the tree fell. Isn't that what we have insurance for? |

Happy Farmers Customer
Strength:
Fast, Honest, and Fair I have had Farmers Insurance for 5 years and could not be happier. I was not a Farmers Customer until I was involved in an accident that involved a Farmers Insured. Their claims process was quick and very fair. In addition, I was contacted not only by the claims rep but also by the agent and the district manager. I immediately switched my insurance to Farmers. |

none I to would like to know the real story behind the negative reviews for Farmers. I have had Farmers for several years, and have had 2-claims which were taken care of professionaly. My agent called after my claim was initiated to make sure I was satisfied. I have had nothing but praise to my friends for Farmers, they are very professional, and I recommend them to all my friends. Don't let a few idiots like the cop who reviewed, ranting and raving about something they obviously don't have their facts correct(boy I'd hate to have him for a neighborhood cop)! |

No integrity Farmers insurance ruined my life financially...if you are buying insurance, read this and then search for "avoid farmers insurance" I paid farmers car insurance for 7 years and when I had an accident, My farmer's rep told me that "if you were not at fault, farmers will honor the claim....if you were at fault they will not honor it!" and that's exactly what happenned. for years since, Farmers has stalled communication, my auto lease company sold the car for scrap and put a derog on my credit report - this has lowered my FICO score, making my credit terrible - raised my mortgage rate and gets in the way of most every financial transaction I make. They are unscrupulous - took my money for 7 years.....paid me nothing when I needed them. I have been in legal battle for 2 years....all the while, my credit is tanked....everything costs more to finance. Watch out! Farmers is bad news! |

Very good at deception, Brilliant at putting off, and delaying, and making it very hard on you. Good at trying to put you in a bind to settle quickly. Clever at using untrue numbers and misrepresenting the truth
Weakness:
being honorable in dealing with you. Being pleasant to talk to, being fair in their settlements. Not trying to help you resolve the differences in a claim. Not willing to negotiate to a fair agreement for both parties simple, a farmers ins. client rear ended me and drove me into the guy in front of me, which totalled my truck. Farmers won't repair my truck or give me enough to replace it with something comparable. My truck was excellant. they have directed me to some to buy. First they don't want to give me enough to buy one with, second what I have looked at won't even sell at an auction except for parts.I have lost wages, and injury, and I have to go to court to testify against the guy that rear ended me. Now they want to take the rental truck away. They are doing all they can to make it hard on me.Well I am going to buy a new truck and they are going to pay for it when I am done.DO NOT USE FARMERS INS. My State farm Ins is GREAT. I know I will have to sue Farmers, But I will leave this claim open as long as needed. Please do not use farmers ins. Check around, there are much better companys. Customer Service Apathetic Attitude Unyielding I was rear ended while sitting at a major intersection. I had renter's insurance with Alamo and they provided great service to me. I have auto insurance with Geico, who simply has outstanding customer service and satisfaction. My beef is with the other driver's insurance company. Farmer's Insurance. I just found out today what they are willing to settle with me for bodily injury. Little compensation for bodily injury. Geico paid my entire medical bill with the understanding from Farmers adjuster that they will compensate me. I found out today Farmer's reduce the bills in the settlement because they thought the accident was too small for the bills incurred from the doctors and physical therapy. I was told that I had am responsible for the remaining fees because Farmer's felt that Geico should have questioned the bills from the medical doctors. They are not willing to bulge at all. The person handling my claim is not the original claim adjuster. The first person was wonderful and I kept her informed of the medical expenses and visits. She was most helpful. But the new adjuster is just doing his job. He said that's how it goes. They will not pay the difference and as far as pain and suffering, the accident was small. I have a lower back injury and since August I cannot ride in a vehicle an extended amount of time nor can I sit in a chair for serveral hours without feeling tightness in my back. Yet their justification was reducing the bill/settlement (what they are willing to pay after Geico has footed the bill) because it was a small fender bender.I tell you this has been an experience of a life time. I am seeking legal counsel. Thank goodness for GEICO!! Similar Products Used: None |
