They are pernicious liars who will cheat at the first opportunity!! My Mercedes was hit by a Progressive customer. Progressive's estimate was 1/3 lower than the lowest body shop estimate. Progressive was insisting on using junked parts with a swiss cheese warranty. They guaranty only limited pieces of some of the parts and when questioned acknowledge that and then the lies begin. Progressive's supervisor told me the salvage yard and body shop gives a one year warranty on the rest. Body shop owner laughed - not my choice of part!! The salvage yard has a big as is no warranty sign!! Don't trust Progressive - THEY ARE BAD NEWS!!! Similar Products Used: N/A |

Its all great until you have a claim.
Weakness:
Customer service. Communication Progressive has the worst customer service I have ever encountered. They closed a claim just because I took more than four days to respond back. They ended up not covering a penny because damages were below deductible. In the meantime though they decided to cancel my policy at renewal because they said I was using the vehicle for business. I work retail and carry no product and they did'nt even have the decency to ask what I did. I wanted to cancel early and they told me it would be a $50 penalty. So in the end they are going to raise my rate for the last two months of the term and then terminate the policy. Thanks alot Progressive! My experience basically mirrors Hanspeter. First I have not been in an accident in over 10 years, this was the first time I ever made a claim with them. Over memorial day weekend, I had hit a deer. Per the body shop where I took it, it was repairiable damage, in that what was needed to be fixed was my radiator lights, and some body work, but everything else was fine. The adjuster however totaled my car, his estimate for the repair was much more than the mechanics estimate of the repair. Furthermore, they were offering TRADE IN VALUE, not the cash value of the car. Despite being shown examples of what other cars of the same make, model, year, and similier miliage was going for( which I admit I found a smaller sample than I liked), going for much more, I recieved a BS explanation, and they refused to budge an inch. My vehicle was hit by a Progressive Insurance customer at my College's parking lot while parked causing driver side bumper, fender and minor alignment damage. Luckily the girl who hit my car was nice enough to leave a note on my car with her information (or was witnessed hitting my car and had no choice but to leave her info). In any case, I call up Progressive immediately to resolve the situation. I get in touch with one of their adjusters extremely quickly and am referred to one of their network body shops. I was given a rental car free of charge by Enterprise and everything seemed to be going smoothly; however, after the appraisal value set from one of their representatives, the value seemed quite low.
Similar Products Used: I had my 1992 Honda Civic hatchback hit 4 years ago by a State Farm insured customer. They provided better results with a slower time; however, I was extremely happy after the settlement. |

Failure to do the right and moral thing. Horrible experience getting car fixed properly and getting the rental car setup. Review is on experience with Progressive. In December of 2005, a progressive customer hit the right rear of my Volvo. Progressive said that to get it fixed in the least amount of time with a guarantee of workmanship, I could take it to their preferred body shop. I took the car there. The body shop performed body repair. Just to clarify a couple of points before continuing, I had the wheels aligned one month before the accident and had the wheels aligned at least five previous times with no incidents. It always went into perfect alignment. Within 2000 miles of driving after the accident the car shredded a set of 60,000 mile tires that had only been run for 20,000 miles. I took the car to an alignment shop. I had to replace the tires and I always get an alignment after tire replacements. The right rear wheel would not go into alignment and would actually not even come close to alignment. I took the car back to the body shop and contacted progressive. Progressive proceeded to tell me that in no way could this have been caused by the accident and that they would not pay for it. It sure seems strange that my car went into perfect alignment during every alignment over the life of the car, but now all of a sudden, a bent control arm could not have been caused by the accident. There have never been any other accidents or any other traumatic shock to the car. This happened during the accident, but they would not cover it. I have filed a complaint with the Texas Department of Insurance and will post this review on public web sites that I own. It will take an attorney to get this corrected. I can't believe that Progressive would risk all of this negative publicity for a ~$1200.00 repair that was caused by this accident. This is why I will never be a Progressive customer and I will sway my friends away from this product. I have Allstate insurance and I have been extremely happy with their products. They send exhorbinant bills on a timely basis - if you have too much money go with them. They have nice commercials which make you think they are not money sucking scoundrels.
Weakness:
If you do not have unlimited funds - or you really don't feel like throwing your money out the window - go with someone else - I really can't imagine doing any worse than Progressive - Should be Regresssive Insurance instead. Progressive - what an ironic name for such a company. They should rename the company to "Regressive Insurance". Short Story: Started a company. Next year bought an expensive truck as a tax write off. Needed insurance - can called around - no experience with the company - and since it is commercial - not that easy to get. Found a guy that said he could write the policy, failed to tell me it would be $3500/yr - what! After a year of paying through the arse - about $300/month - talked to other insurance agents and found a commercial guy that told me I was being ripped off. Said he could supply same or better coverage for less. OK, send me a quote. How about $1100/yr???? Or less than one third of Progressive's rate. Where do I sign - was my reply. Now have Farm Bureau commercial insurance and couldn't be happier. They now have all of my business - commercial liability, multiple trucks. I pay them about $4000/yr for 3 trucks and business liability - only $500 more than my one truck before. Progressive gets $0 of my business and that is the way it will always be. Unethical trade practices,dont care about the injured parties,will not assist in anyway,stretches everything out to reach a smaller settlement, I was rearended by an insured of progressive 11 months ago that had been drinking.He did 7k worth of damage to my truck.They would only pay for used parts to replace on a new truck that were bent and the wrong color.They will not pay the total rental on a replacement vehichle for the total time mine was being repaired.The accident has caused me to have surgery on my back once and i have one pending due to accident.They have offered 16k to settle.I have been off work sinve the accident and they refuse to pay lost wages and medical bills.They are claiming it is a preexisting injury.When i have never had a problem with my back.The insurance commision needs to get involved with this company for unfair trade practices,unethical,and beligerent workers in their corporation.Oh I am Jesse from Texas.I am just hope that the gov. will shut down this company for their tactics and behavior |

The one person I found on a Sunday in their Customer Service department was thorough and pleasant and HONEST.

Can't transfer data correctly. My name, address, bithdate, my husband's birthdate and the monthly premium ALL incorrect. When dealing with Mary Zimmerman in Customer Relations found her concocting stories to explain what happened, when it happened, why they were not responsible and why I owed them! This Review ia about the Progreesive Drive Insurance I had on the car. Incompitence runs far and deep within this company. When I applied for the insurance I paid 2 months premiums. After just over a month when I did not receive a bill I went back to the insurance office(18 miles one way). There I found out I did not pay my next premium on time so there was a $5 late fee. Even though they discovered that they had initially entered BOTH my name and address incorrectly so I would NEVER have received a bill! I refused to pay it and they kept adding it on to my premiums. I gave in. Then when I'd try to pay my bill via their website and entered my birthdate and policy number I would get a msg stating that I entered incorrect information and to insert the correct information. Well, just as I know how to spell my name, know what my address is, I know my birthdate and I read the policy number right from their statement but I was still entering "incorrect information". Finally I called and found SURPRISE a competant and helpful, honest person to deal with. She told me that both my birthdate and my husband's were incorrect by 14 and 18 years respectfully. She corrected them and told me that with this correction my insurance payment would be $7 less monthly. I decided this company was not worth the headaches so I went to AAA. My Progressive insurance for PLPD on one vehicle driven only 50 miles per week was $79 per month. With AAA it is $39 per month and my name is correct as is all the other pertinent information. Similar Products Used: Never had a problem with car insurance companies prior to this. |

Insulting Personel A claims adjuster who was lackluster at best . . .I'm sure he's not the only one Every review I have read has been an accident claim. TRY USING PROGRESSIVE FOR A THEFT CLAIM! The will hang you out to dry . . .especially if (boy do I hate to take it there) you are a Black person from Detroit! I guess they automatically assume I am out to fleece the flock. Heres the summary . . .they made repairs, I paid the deductable but it turns out they did not mount my bumper correctly . . .I didn't notice until the next morning before work. My fault for driving off the lot with out inspecting the car very closely for minor errors. I can admit that. So, when I brought the car back in, they tried to say that I caused this damage. The guy insisted he would have not let me leave the lot with an imperfection like that, but my car failed the final inspection one time under his supervision before I got it back, so who's to say what HIS personal standards are????? I AM Totally Disgruntled . . .I cannot support this company. I know all insurance companies have their days, but Progressive made it personal. Below is the mass email I wrote to pretty much everyone I know with an email address: NEVER IN YOUR LIFE EVER EVER EVER opt for getting Progressive Insurance. I am so pissed with their service, I cannot sit through a PI television or radio commercial without cussing outloud and flipping the switch. The people I dealt with, all except one or two were total creeps to us, they give bogus information, they lie, and they do everything in their power to NOT help you instead of giving you the help that you pay for every month and hope you never have to utilize. The behavior of the guy at the service center was unacceptable, he questioned me and Andre's character, he tried to canoodle out of fixing something that they failed to fix the first time, and he called my bluff thinking I would not drive all the way from Auburn Hills to Plymouth during work hours to hear his bullsh*t in person and view the damage myself. Guess who was gunnin' it down 275 at 10:00 this morning????? I won't type a novel, all I have to say is screw Progressive and their slick advertisting. "This is NOT how life should be" . . .contrary to their sing-song'y advertisement. They made me feel like a crook and a liar. I can understand them scrutinizing a repair error that was found after I drove the car off of the lot. With all the insurance scams going on, that is totally explicable. But refer to my fiancé like he is a rental car thief and to pull out your cell phone right in front of me and make a phone call to the collision shop, to confirm if I am telling the truth, . . .I was taken aback. Dude SWORE he was about to "catch me in a lie", but to no avail. The collision shop confirmed my stance on this complaint. And that is ONLY but ONE thing out of this whole process that has pissed me off. The problem DID get fixed, but not until AFTER I was given the 3rd degree runaround . . .I swear I was one step away from haveing to take a piss test and a polygraph. ANYWAY, This is the beginning of a lifelong word-of-mouth anti-campaign AGAINST this company.
