Reps rarely available, reps play games, will not fix subsequent damage.

We were hit by a Progressive driver. First they told us the car had a bent frame and noted all the damage, but refused to give us the damage report. They claimed they had to type it up and would fax us a copy. Never happened.Then they wanted us to go to their shop, which was a dealer I used. That's where we took the car. What a mistake! Miraculously, the bent frame dissapeared, the crease in the hood disappeared and they replaced both bumpers with used ones that were the wrong color. The bill did not reflect all the repairs and there was more damage. We returned the car several times, even refused to take it the first time, but they claimed there was nothing wrong. When we found the problem they claimed we had had another accident and refused to fix the car. They also refused to pay the medical bills and we hired a lawyer. They had an auditer go over bills and didn't allow them, but it was based on units of PT and the auditor had counted the units wrong. They will not return phone calls. They blamed us for paying the med. bills and claim they could have negotiated a lower price(illegal in TX). I've heard similar stories from those they cover. We have State Farm Ins. and are spoiled. They are honest. DO NOT BUY PROGRESSIVE INS. and pray you don't get hit by one of their customers.

Good luck to anyone who is involved in an accident where the person at fault is a PROGRESSIVE insured driver. For the past two weeks I have been contacting Progressive and have been receiving a complete run around. Apparently if you have Progressive insurance, cause an accident but don't answer the phone when the agent calls you, you will never have to pay out the claim! At least that's what I am being told. The police report clearly states this persons fault, he was ticketed for excessive speed, but Progressive is unable to reach him so they say there is nothing they can do. I was told to just go ahead and have my own insurance pay for damages and that once they get in touch with their insured, they will reimburse my insurance company and me for any out of pocket expenses. Now tell me why I would want to take my own money, specifically the deductible, and pay for something that was not my fault! It's still being played out here so hopefully (after reading others on this site I doubt it) we will be able to resolve the situation without the need to contact a lawyer. In the mean time, I did send a complaint to the Insurance Commissioner. I still belieive in miracles.

Customer service sucks, adjusters are rude and too pushy

I am not a progressive customer, but was involved in an accident with one.OH My Gosh..This has been the longest 2 weeks of my life. Their driver was clearly at fault for running a red light and was sighted.I had 7 witnesses to prove that. The day of the accident the adjuster went and inspected my vehicle and deemed it totaled. I had injuries and went to the ER a few hours after the accident. The adjuster called me and came by my house when i got home from the ER. He wanted to settle the medical part of the claim right there and have me sign some papers and give me a check for $750. He would also pay my ER bill and my time expected off from work. (3days), and he would put me into a rental car the next day. Sounds good, but I knew that $750 would not be quite enough money for all the bills i would be paying so i told him no i didnt want to settle that night. He threatned me that if i didnt settle the medical portion right then and there that the next day I would be 10% at fault for the accident and would not recieve a rental car..I threw him out of my house. I asked friends and family if this was right and they all told me NO..I proceed to talk with an attorney and now have found that my car can be repaired and Progressive is refusing to repair it for the $6500, but are willing to total it for $10,000..That is minus the 10% that they say i am at fault. And on top of that, progressive is refusing to pay for my chriropractic bills..I suffered nerve damage in my neck and injured my back. Its on big MESS..My lawyer is handling it for me now, but i am really getting upset more each day. No Rental, No money paid on Medical, I am out about $700 right now paying doctors and chriropractor visits, but atleast i have major medical that is helping with some of it. We are going to end of suing progressive for the BS that they have put me through. I dont recomend anyone getting insurance through Progressive..They are too pushy and want to settle things too fast. I guess they saw a single female that looked money hungry and wanted to settle fast..WRONG..they messed with the wrong person.

Im 19 new driver signed up online for insurance seemed the easiest thing to do. I Was paying 180 a month wich is the lowest coverage... covered state min. Well then after I sign the papers that month after. I got a letter stating I need to prove past insurance records. It was my frist issue for insurance. Ever in my life. So I called them up and go figure. It was a discount if you already had insurance with them. Oh now I had to pay 240 a month. Discount. Oh yea after I sign the papers It's now a different rate right? Seems kinda sneeky that they wouldent make you prove it before hand. Greedy mother****ers.

Beware this company! BEWARE! Go to the website of your state board of insurance and look to see how many complaints have been filed against them!

Beware Progressive Auto Insurance! I was a customer of theirs and used their online site to replace a vehicle when I got a new car. ONLINE, THEY DON'T TELL YOU THAT THEIR BROWSER SETTINGS RESET YOUR INSURANCE TO THE MINIMUM WHEN YOU REPLACE A VEHICLE! So 2 weeks later, my car was hit-and-run and Progressive wouldn't pay, even though I had always had hit-and-run insurance before replacing my vehicle online. They BLAMED ME for not noticing that THEY changed my insurance WITHOUT warning me that they reset everyone's insurance when changing a vehicle! This experience has been horrible! I'm filing a claim against them with my state insurance board, and it turns out that here in Oregon Progressive complaints are MORE than their market share! ARRGH! If only I had known this before choosing an insurance company!

I've had Progressive now for a year and a half, and luckily (?) I haven't had to file a claim yet, but I had something else interesting happen. When I was calling around a year and a half ago getting rates for insurance, Progressive beat everyone else out in Delaware by about $200 a year. Well, I just got my bill for the next six months, and I notice that my premium went up $178 for the 6 month period! When I called them to ask why, the told me that Delaware had passed a rate increase, so they raised my rates. When I asked them did they have to raise my rates, they admitted that technically they did not have to. Then, when I contacted another insurer in Delaware, when I told them about this supposed rate increase in the State, they told me "what increase?"

Criminal tactics.

Progressive refused to fix my car(only car) until I had proven 3 months later that the state said the accident was not my fault. They sent out an estimator and then were able to authorize fixing the vehicle. After 5 weeks of repair, and a promise for a check right after the estimate, my collision shop called and informed me they had never received a check. It has now been 3 weeks of constant calling and I 've finally gotten them to agree to just give me the check in person(at my expense of driving to their office). HORRIBLE SERVICE/Attempted to leave me with 13000 worth of car with no repair until this was taken up in court.

Their character, morals and ethics!

Do not trust this company!!!! Their insured wrecked her truck into our home and they refuse to pay anything!!! They came to our house and told us it was an "Act of God" (saying she had a medical condition). We had our home owners insurance pay to repair our house but the vehicles she damaged only had liability so they were not covered. We are out around $11,000.00. The insured says it has nothing to do with her. She is a worthless, unemployed bum that lives in her parents basement. Progressive is cheap insurance but you get what you pay for and with this company usually much less than you pay for!!!!

Car was hit by an uninsured person. Progressive will not total the car even though the damage is so extensive. Instead they want to repair it using "non OEM parts" to keep their costs down. They are a great company until someone hits you and isnt insured..

A bunch of threatening thugs that only see the bottom line. Are not interested in restoring a car to pre accident condition.

I was rear ended by a person insured by Progressive. If anyone else is in an accident with one of their policy holders all I can say is get a lawyer and good luck! Their initial estimate was for $1800. They tried to steer me to a body shop that provide a warranty. I selected my own shop and when the shop sent the supplemental estimate for an additional $1700 I got a call from the Progressive adjuster that she "had concerns" about my car repairs. Three days later she approved only $1200 of the supplement and they are still insisting on putting a used 'reconditioned' bumper on my car. A few days after that she threatened to take away the rental car they were providing. It took a call to her manager to get the rental extended an additional 10 days. My car is still in the shop and will be ready soon, I was told a few more days, but once again she is threatening to take away the rental before my car is returned. Progressive has never fully approved all the work necessary to restore my car to pre-accident candition, has bullied me and is threatening to cause significant cost and hardship by revoking the rental. The only option I have is to initiate a suit againgst their policy holder to recoup all the costs associated with the repair and rental costs. So if you go with Progressive as an Insurance company, policy holder beware of just how these folks operate.
