Goodyear Eagle RS-A Tires

Goodyear Eagle RS-A Tires

DESCRIPTION

Goodyear designed the Eagle RS-A to excel in all conditions, and part of the success is the unique asymmetrical tread design. It delivers traction in the dry, wet and snow with consistent effectiveness. And premium sidewall styling means the RS-A looks as good as it performs.

Strength:

good traction in dry weather. not noisey at all

Weakness:

hard as a rock. Had them a year and thier already showing tread wear.

They are an all around good tire. Rapid treadwear is commen to all high-performance tires. I havn't heard them squeal once and i push them pretty hard. the only thing i noticed is that they take a while to heat up so they spin easily.

Strength:

Length of treadwear
Even treadwear

Weakness:

Noisy

Seems like these have gotten a bad rap, but these tires (in my case) have lasted a long time compared to others. I don't have many complaints other than the noise (which I'm not positive it's the tires). I've driven under normal conditions with mostly interstate driving above 60mph. I would say they are average tires.

Strength:

Sidewall styling, dry weather handling

Weakness:

Poor handling in the rain and snow.

These tires came on the car from the factory. Mine have about 50,000 miles on them, and the only problem (albeit a big one) is wet-weather traction. Even in light rain, they don't grip well when taking off from a stop or when turning corners. I've looked into having them replaced with the exact same tire, and the cheapest I've found is $565 on the rim and out the door for 205/55/R16.

Strength:

Contrary to other reviews, I like this tire. Good traction in dry, wet, and heavy Colorado snow.

Weakness:

The tire is noisy and expensive.

This is a good tire. I am on my second set of these tires with about 12,000 miles. I was able to get 48,000 miles on the first set. I drive up and down the mountains every week during ski season and have never had traction problems. The tires hold well in rain, they do not hyroplane, and do well on snow. No, the tires are not winter tires but on several occasions after heavy snows I have passed 4x4s sliding on the highway while I had no problems. Most of my driving is on the highway 75+ mph, no problem with rain. I do wish they were more quiet, but they are better than Michelin MXV4s.

Similar Products Used:

Michelin MXV4. The Michelin tires were much louder and had a tendancy to hydroplane on water.

Strength:

Weakness:

They fall apart while you're driving.

These tires came on my 98 Dodge Avenger, and I had a replacement set put on about a year ago. They are terrible tires... they handle
poorly in all conditions and (as others have said) they are ridiculously noisy! Unfortunately they are 1 of only a handful of tires that come in
the size I need.

The other day my right rear tire separated all the way around the inside wall, as it did for another reviewer, while I was driving on a
highway at about 65 MPH. Luckily I had a few seconds of warning (it started to wobble) and was able to slow down before it
completely blew or I'd probably be dead.

DON'T BUY THESE TIRES, and furthermore... REPLACE THEM IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THEM!!!! You are risking your life
by driving on them.

I only wish that I could give a rating of 0. It seems unfair to have to place these tires among the comparative greatness of the 1 rated tires.

Strength:

Absolutely none

Weakness:

Noisey, rough riding, uneven wear, has a tendacy to scalop on the sides. Far from what Goodyear advertises. Replaced with a mere 10,000 miles on these junk tires. Goodyear knows they are junk.

My problems with the Goodyear Eagle RSA'S started with my 1997 Cadillac Catera. When I turned this car in after a 3 year lease with 45,000 miles I had 3 sets of tires on my 1997 Catera. The GM Cadillac dealer who serviced the car claimed that Cadillac had a service bulletin stating that the Catera had front end alignment problems and that this had caused the wear on the RSA'S. I thought as long as Cadillac was replacing these tires all 4 at a time I might add less the aggrevation it was O.K.
Well, liking the Catera so much because I never had any problems with the car except the tires I went out and leased a Model 2000 Catera this past March. Yes, they still come with the Goodyear Eagle RSA'S. I thought that Cadillac solved what they thought was a alignment problem especially after 3 model years later. But guess what? Just this week with only 10,000 miles on my new Cadillac Catera the dealer just replaced the Goodyear RSA'S that came with the car. I asked the dealer to possibly put Michelins on the car and they said that since Cadillac is paying for the new tires they still replace them with the junk RSA tires.
I'am now totally convinced that it's not the front end with the Catera but the Goodyear RSA'S.
DO NO NOT BUY THESE TIRES. THEY ARE OVER RATED JUNK.

None lately. Ihave been forced to own these tires because they are standard with the Cadillac Catera's. I have leased a 1997 Catera and now a 2000 model.

Strength:

-they are circular like other tires
-would make a fun life-preserver

Weakness:

-pathetic performance (dry): squeals on minor corners
-pathetic performance (wet): hydroplaning experience
-poor rough surface reaction: noisy, tracking problems
-ridiculous price:performance ratio
-forced ownership through widespread OEM support

Question: Would you recommend this tire?
Short Answer: No.
Long Answer: No.
If these sacrilegous and offensive iterations of the rubber tree were not OEM rolling stock on my last 2 cars, I may have been spared their horrendous existence. However, I am not that lucky as both the Pontiac Sunfire GT (95) and the Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX (99) wore these tires. I thought I would be able to avoid them by changing manufacturers to no avail. I'm just glad BMW does not use them.

Have forever been turned off of "performance" all-season tires. I now go through the expense of changing from low-pro performance rubber in the summer to winter tires when snows fall on cedar.

almost got killed when the tire came off in the middle of the down slope corner, the tire came off from the rim...

well, like someone said here, it was all good before the first 10000 miles.
then disaster came. It must be some reason behind it that tirerack have these tires on sale for 3 years!!! only thing I interested in is that some cop died because of the failure of this brand of tire.Yes, all the new patrol car's are using this killer RS-A...
