Goodyear Eagle RS-A Tires

DESCRIPTION

Goodyear designed the Eagle RS-A to excel in all conditions, and part of the success is the unique asymmetrical tread design. It delivers traction in the dry, wet and snow with consistent effectiveness. And premium sidewall styling means the RS-A looks as good as it performs.

Strength:

Good handling and cornering when new

Weakness:

The worst tread wear I ever seen. Extremely dangerous on snowy and wet conditions except when almost new.

It came with the car, I have damaged my 8 months (26 000 km) car for about 5000 $CDA worth of repair and my insurance premium will sky rocked at 2500 $CDA a year instead of the 1600 $CDA I paid last year, and that was cause by excessive wear of the tires after only about 10 000 miles. Cornering on wet conditions is dangerous when there are worn out to about 2/3 of their usefull life. Unless you drive only on dry road or you plan to kill yourself don't buy these tires, these are dangerous since there are not as good as you might think while you drive. I think my winter tires corners better and last longer than these.

Strength:

The styling was OK and I used them for the first 50,000 miles of my cars life.

Weakness:

I didn't like anything about these tire. They were completely weather cracked at 20,000 miles, they squealed when cornering, they had little traction on wet or snowy roads, they spun easily on completely dry roads, they provided a very rough ride, there was a lot of road noise, and they cost more than most tires in its class. These tires came from the factory on my Grand Am GT.

These tires came from the factory on my Grand Am GT. You can get a much better tire for significantly less money.

I am now using Dunlop D60 A2 tires and I am completely happy with them. They are quiet, smooth, grip hard, and look good as well.

Strength:

-Looks
-Wear seems to be okay so far, but I only have 13,000 miles on them.

Weakness:

Lousy traction, both wet and dry, but especially wet (when compared with other tires I've owned on other cars).

This is a scary tire. My Eclipse pumps out a lot of torque when the turbo ignites, but I've never had a tire break loose so easily while the car is already in motion. In fact, I've never seen anything like it on any of my cars since radials became fashionable in the 60s--and I've owned other hot cars. The tire doesn't want to accelerate, it doesn't want to stop, and it is only so-so in directional changes. Because the tires are OEM, I'd like to get my money's worth out of them; but, for safety's sake, I may be cashing them in long before they wear out. Repeat: scary. It's hard to believe how poorly the tires respond with all that tread on the pavement!

Strength:

None, this is the most pethetic and under-engineered tire that I have ever owned.

Weakness:

My wife nearly lost her life as there was a manufacturers defect (which I might add was sent to our Insurance company which they claimed as defective and then Goodyear would not admit to the defect in workmanship). My wife was traveling on the interstate back to work around 5PM one afternoon in heavy traffic and luckly she was in the passing lane when at 65 MPH the right rear tire literally peeled away from the rim about half way up on the sidewall only on the inside. The vehicle did a 180 and slammed against the guardrail for 300+ feet. The car has $9000 damage to boot. Furthermore, we have since then had to replace a second tire and when detailing the vehicle this weekend we noticed that there was a crack/imperfection in the sidewall on as tire with only 6,000 miles.

$109 Each which is interesting when they have a MSPR of $61 each.

I would highly recommend that you seriously consider spending the money $400-500 to have the tires replaced before you or someone you love dearly is either injured or killed as a result of the workmanship failure of the Eagle RSA.

Strength:

Good dry traction, OK offroad performance, OK tread wear

Weakness:

Pathetic wet traction, Noisy, Too Expensive

These came stock on my chevy caprice 9c1. I've been using them for a little more than a year now and i must say that the BF Goodrich tires are a much better value. For one, these tires are outrageously expensive especially for P235 70R15. Next, the wet traction on these is pathetic at most. I have a tough time not spinning out and trafficlights where I have to turn from a stop.

On the bright side, the dry traction is decent, and actually pretty nice when hot. The one thing they are not is silent. The spotlight on my car produces a lot of noise, but the tires will usually drown it. Not too bad if you are not paying any extra for the tires, but the Eagle GT +4 tires are a better performer.

I would not recommend this tire for anyone if you have to pay for it. They may look cool with the EAGLE RS-A on the side walls, but performance is marginal at best.

Strength:

Nothing.

Weakness:

Too noisy, no wet grip whatsoever, horrible in light snow, should not be classified as high perf all season tires. The worst perf tire I have ever used. Wears also very fast and overpriced.

Came as OEM equipment. Tires wore down in only 17,000 miles. Goodyear and dealer would not honor any kind of warranty on this tire because it is OEM part. This sounds like a big scam to me. Would not recommend buying this tire.

Strength:

The dry traction and the wet traction on the freeways. I know others have complained. Maybe it has something to do with the tire size (195 55/15) or the suspension on the car. I read a review of the car and the reviewer said
they surprised him, too, because he had tested another car with the same tires and they didn't perform as well. The dry traction includes hard cornering, although not to awfully great extremes. The wet traction I refer to is on freeways at highway speeds. I was quite impressed. I haven't had anything better in this respect since a set of Bridgestone tires I had years ago on a smaller car.

Weakness:

Three things. Noise, noise and noise. For this reason alone I'm going to find another brand that performs as well. This model of Sentra is remarkably quiet in all other respects.

I don't know the price. They were OE, but the local Wal Mart sells them for approximately $140.

Goodyear Eagle GT's & Cooper Cobra's - - - They did well but not as well as these in traction and wear. The Goodyears were prone to slide on wet cornering more so than the Cooper's.

Strength:

Long tread life...only natural, the things are rock hard!

Weakness:

NO GRIP! They came on my Talon TSi, and the car spins 'em so easy it's sick! Crummy traction in the wet from what I've heard (only had them and the car a month). The cornering ability. Squeal as soon as you press em. To expensive.

These tires suck. If you've got em, replace them as soon as you can an excuse. Absolutly the worst "performance" (LOL) tires I've ever had.

Not bad in dry conditions and I got pretty good treadwear(46,600)

Wet traction was poor from the moment I got my car. They also seem to be suseptible to hydroplaning

Got them with the car and wouldn't recommend them for anyone that drives in wet conditions over long periods of time.

dry handling is good when tires are new

Weakness:

wet handling, tread life (done after 10,000 miles), started squeal after 1000 miles

These tires are fine for everyday driving. If you plan on aggressive driving then look somewhere else. If you have these tires, do yourself a favor and stay below 30 when the roads are wet. These tires are also overpriced for what you get.
